  1. Sass Jordan

Listen to her "Rats" album, and you'll see what I mean B)

Hands down, it has to be Janis Joplin.

Sass Jordan is great too. I really like her stuff.

Another Canadian female rock queen is Lee Aaron. Anybody remember her???

Gwen Stefani was great when she rocked with No Doubt (I think they're back together again).

Mellissa Etheridge had some pretty good stuff as well.

Sheryl Crowe, although I didn't really fine her first album all the rockin'

    Lita Ford is great.

Alanis Morrissette (not including her first 2 pop albums as Alanis)

    Tina Turner.

    Joan Jett

    Stevie Nicks

    Anybody remember Chrissie Steel??

How about the female rock group Vixen?

The female grunge rock band L7 were good too.

  2. ACDC is in my top 3 fav bands (Zep of course if #1). I have yet to see them live, but will do so this summer (Aug 6th OOOHHHH YEAH!!!).

My fav era is with Bon Scott. I just find their music hard a little more blues mixed in with their rock. Both Brian and Bon ROCK!!!. There is always a song to crank up and rock out to on any one of their albums. I find it amazing that ACDC are one of the few bands to remain successful after having a different lead singer.

My fav album is Let There Be Rock. A close second is Highway To Hell. Highway to hell was the very first music that I owned. It was also my first cassette tape. I remember hooking up a battery charger to a car stereo cassette player and 1 car stereo speaker, ON the kitchen table, just to listen to that album (cassette players were relatively new and expensive and all we had was a record player). A few moths later, I got a my first cassette player for xmas

My fav song is The Jack (both studio lyrics and the "interpretation" lyrics they do live. Rocker and Whole Lotta Rosie are awesome songs too. There isn't any Bon era song that I don't like.

  3. But please take back Celine Dion, Len and Margaret Trudeau.

I'll accept the return of Len and Margaret Trudeau...... but an absolute no on Celin Dion. I just cringe every time I hear her sing :D

  4. I had to go with In Through The Outdoor. Coming in a brown paper bag, interactive water colors, 6 different covers. The 6 different covers all have perspectives from each person in the room. Overall, simply amazing. The main reason is that I have always thought that the album cover matches the mood of the album fairly well.

  5. Excellent analysis on both bands there "McSeven". Both bands are great. Zep is #1 with, while ACDC is #5. If you want "balls-out" rock and roll.... stick with ACDC. If you want emotional, uplifting and a more diverse muscial experience... then Zep will do. Deciding which is better , depends on personal musical taste and the mood one is in.

  6. Hi there - she just lost her job when the company she worked for folded. It seemed a sensible time to sell them since she doesn't have them on display.

In answer to the earler question - the autograph was obtained on 4th March 1980 when Bonzo was interviewed in Tyne Tees TV studios in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, [by Billy Connolly], for the TV show "Alright Now". The interview can be seen on YouTube. Bonzo spent a lot of time with fans in the studio during taping and then when he was told there were fans outside who hadn't been able to get tickets,he went outside to speak to them all.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that your friend lost their job. :( If must be hard for them to part with such a fantastic piece of memorabilia. I hope they get a fair amount for this item. I'll have a look out for this on Ebay.

It was great to have Bonzo go outside to meet the fans. I can only imagine the look on their faces when he showed up in front of them.

  7. WOW! That's one fantastic piece of memorabilia. John's signature has held well considered the length of time that has past. Your friend definitely took great care of that, which meant it was special to them. Just out of curiosity Knebby, what made them sell it?

(It's OK to not answer if it is too personal of a question to answer, I was just curious that's all)

    :)

  8. I'd have to go with Jennings Farm Blues, although I'd places Bron-yr-aur a close second. I simply love that tune but in a totally different way than Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (which is happens to be one of my favs). :)

  9. Jimmy still has the mold used to create the aging of his face for his fantasy sequence. I believe he still has the robe as well. Sam might know if Jonsey kept his mask and cape. Robert remembers the crew pouring kerosine on the lake and lighting it to create the flames but I'm not sure about the sword's fate. I've certainly never seen any props from the film up for sale or auction. Promotional items, sure, but nothing the band actually wore in the film.

Great question Bonzo1026. I had been wondering about that stuff myself, in particular the sword (it would go great with my collection). Thanks for the reply SteveAJones. What were the promotional items for the film?

(I apologize in advance if the answer to my question was already stated in another thread on this forum)

  10. Thanks for the important clarification. It seems the people behind the release of this new cd may have exagerrated Jimmy's association with this tracks.

That's probably in order to make it appealing to sell more copies. Not that it wouldn't sell anyway, but even with Jimmy's name, it's guaranteed to sell more. Maybe not a lot more, but definitely more. It's called marketing.

  11. I was watching the show "Life On Mars" for only the second time. The show is about a cop who gets in an accident and ends up back in time in 1973 (I think). This episode was about a groupie who was sleeping with a frontman for this band (forgot the name) who went missing. Another groupie was mentioning to the police she suspected a roadie or guitar/lighting tech of killing her as he was in love with her and couldn't stand watching her sleep with all these members of different bands. She said he couldn't listen to any of her ex lovers albums any more and he had to throw them out (Black Sabbath, Cream, and I can't remember the rest). But she mentioned he may of killed her because Led Zeppelin were coming to town next week (indicating she would be sleeping with the band members and that Led Zep were his fav)

The show has an interesting concept. So far both episodes were good.

  12. What happened to the great artwork that used to appear on concert posters?

Pearl Jam has some awesome tour posters. Sorry I don't have any links or pics to show you, but I am sure they are not hard to find if you wanted to view them. I can't comment on their most recent tour, but the posters for their 2005 and 2006 tours became the front covers for their official bootleg concerts. When you bought them from their website. you downloaded the mp3/flac files which included the artwork in pdf format. The posters are much better as they have more imagery on them. For these years the poster artwork related to the city in which they played (for the most part). Some great stuff... and great artist too!

  13. Driving to work today I heard Kashmir and WLL back-to-back. I live in Eastern Canada (Newfoundland to be exact) and the main radio station here plays a lot of zep since passcodes were issued for the Ahmet tribute concert last year, they even had 2 tickets up for a contest (that I never won despite numerous entries). I never took notice before then, So I cannot comment before that time. The station did have the most ever entries for a single contest in the station's 30 year history...but then again, that's little surprise.

Anyhow, that station plays several Led Zep songs per day (and that's only what I hear) and are the most played non-mainstream artist on that radio station, even more than on our local classic rock station. Kashmir, WLL, CB, STH, TY, RO, Heartbreaker, BD, OTHAFA, TBOE, IS, NQ, DM, and DD are played on a regular basis. Sometimes something unusual comes up like, ALS, HHWCID, or WGG comes on. Even some live performances.

    ROCK ON

    Edited for Spelling
