    Come on Rangers!

Be careful what you wish for (or post).  I want the Texas Rangers to win and win it all (if not, then the Houston Astros).  Your Orioles had a good and surprising season but that will come to a sudden end if they have face either of these two formidable Texas teams.

Typo.  Mud slinging.  I know my Orioles are in playoffs and Cardinals are going home !

Yes, they are, and I congratulate them.  I don't know how many, but it seems to have been a few years since the last time they were there.  I still think they will not make it to the World Series.  I am not going to make any excuses for the Saint Louis Cardinals and the very disappointing season they had this year.  Very rare for a team with their history and caliber.

Dont you look like the dumb ass you are now.  Orioles beat up Astros again, after winning season series from Tampa and still have best record in the AL.  Should have best record in baseball if Atlanta did not play in a garbage division.  So what have you to say about the Orioles season now moron?  Your constant bud slinging has no merit.

You can call me all the ignorant and inane words you want.  Words are just that, words. Doesn't bother or affect me at all.  I will say this again about your Orioles, best record or not, they will not make it to the World Series.  And what the Fuck is "bud slinging?"  I have never heard of those two words put together before.

You are so full of shit. Means pitched his first game in over 500 games.  First time since Tommy John surgery.  Any clue what that is asshole?  He pitched well. Not his fault they did not hit.  Did not care about this series as Tampa is coming in.  A team that is actually in the race unlike the old Cardinals.  Money burners.  No pitching at all.  They got two HRs in that game.  Other than that Means was excellent. We did not hit. St Louis is a meaningless opponent.  You should go put your money down on the playoffs since you are so confident.

The only thing your team does is go buy established players like Goldshmidt, they are the same as the Yankees.  They do not develop talent they steal it.

Baltimore CHOKES again.  1-7.  Again, how is Jack Flaherty working out for your team?  The Orioles will lose in the first round of the Wild Card.

How can one "steal" talent if it's a mutual decision amongst teams and players to trade for such "talent"?   Speaking of trades, how is Jack Flaherty doing for your Orioles?  I find it amusing that you think that the Baltimore Orioles are going to win the World Series this year.  When was the Last time the Orioles were even in the World Series?  40 Years ago.  40.  1983.  I think you will have to wait another 40 years until that happens again.

Your boys first assignment for Means, who makes his  much awaited start tonight in return from Tommy John.  We will have plenty of lumber on hand as well

Who the Fuck is this Means you are constantly bragging about?  It seems like he might have to go back on the IL by the way the Cardinals smoked him tonight.  Just 5 innings tonight?  Even Tommy John pitched better after having surgery in his own name.  I realize the Saint Louis Cardinals are done for this season, but Adam Wainwright won his 199th game over your Baltimore Orioles. I said this once and I'll say it again, the Orioles will not make it to the World Series.  The Houston Astros will, probably against Atlanta.

Just like your Buffalo Bills, they will CHOKE when it really matters.

Well, with the way this season has been for the Cardinals and the way this season has been for your Orioles, it wouldn't surprise me if the Cardinals sweep the Orioles.  Just like the Cardinals won 2 out 3 against the Braves.  I admit it is hard to admit defeat but I  believe I did shortly after the All-star game.  It's pretty rare for this to happen to an historic franchise like the Saint Louis Cardinals but it happens.

Had to go back 4 pages to find your last post.  So I bought MLB tv for rest of season given the dream season my Orioles are having.  I am actually watching and cheering on your Cardinals right now as they are winning again at Tampa, and of course it helps my team.   Flaherty is with us now.  Had a great first game and a tough second, but hey, Houston gives everyone fits.   We beat them today but they got us two days ago on a grand slam off Bautista in 9th . Can’t win them all but we have beat record in American League.  Cards up 3-0 in 7th.  We have Means pitching a rehab tonight, first step in his return from Tommy John.  If things go well with him, I say we have a heck of a shot.  Right now the AL is going to come down to Houston, Texas and my Orioles.  I know Tampa has to be mentioned too.  To me the NL is Atlanta or Dodgers.  I’m picking Dodgers.  Hope all is well.  I have to admit, even in an off year, the Cardinals are always tough. They now lead 5-0.

And my Orioles have not been swept in 76 straight series!

I will admit defeat for the Saint Louis Cardinals this year.  That is something that I never thought I  would never say.  Regardless, one bad season does not spell doom for my Love of the Cardinals.  Just for the record, the Cardinals last losing season was 15 years ago.  That is what I am proud of.  Like you have said Rick, you can't win them all.

I will be still rooting for the Texas Rangers or the Houston Astros.

I will say this to you Rick, I wish your Baltimore Orioles success, but don't be too disappointed when they fail in the Playoffs.

Likely the best post on this forum.

When I saw the movie at 19 at the midnight showing somewhere in the seedy parts of Dallas, I fell asleep during Rain Song likely due to the fragrance in the theater and the Long Island Ice Teas.

saw it every weekend I could thereafter until I had to do adulting things.

It struck me then why such a long gap between the performance and the release.

During setups for shows at Reunion Arena it was not uncommon for the soundtrack to be playing.

Many factors:  these off the top of my head and not in chronological order:

    1.  Songs recorded and released on and for Physical Graffiti.

    2.  Formation and set-up of Swan Song Records.

    3.  Jonesy contemplating leaving the band to become Choirmaster at/for Winchester Cathedral.

    4.  Editing and re-shooting almost half the movie at Shepperton Studios in England.

    5.  Filming of the "fantasy sequences".  Multiple takes of Jimmy climbing the mountain near Boleskine House in Scotland.

    6.  Jimmy's ever-increasing use of heroin after the 1975 tour.

    7.  Robert and his family's car accident in Rhodes soon after the Earls Court triumph...  I am sure there are plenty of more, complete and accurate reasons that could be provided by others on this Forum.

We all know that the basis of the concert for the Song Remains the Same were/was filmed at the final Led Zeppelin shows in NYC Madison Square Garden in 1973.  The release of said movie was in 1976.  Many positive and negative things can happen in a span of 3 years in the world of Led Zeppelin.

If I am wrong or inaccurate about anything I mentioned above, please inform me.  Like I said I am remembering by memory (from the dozens and dozens of books I have read) and not using Google for what most younger people would do these days (I think).

  13. Tomorrow, July 26, 2023, there is going to be a special Congressional hearing on the subject of UFO's and/or UAP's.  Some members of Congress really want to know what the United States Department of Defense and Pentagon knows about UFO'S/UAP's and why "they" are hiding the truth or flat out lying to the American public about the existence or non-existence of such Unidentified or Anomalous objects that have been reported over the skies (and underwater) of planet Earth since, basically, the beginning of recorded history.  Me, personally, have been an avid believer of UFO's (and their existence) since I was a little kid.  Who knows what will or will not happen at tomorrow's hearing, but I think that it is about time the United States government finally acknowledges the existence of extraterrestrial life (and the fact that the U.S. government has retrieved or recovered such objects and have been studying and reverse engineering them since 1947).  The time is NOW, not 50 years from now when most of us will not be around.

I had years of bad seasons.  Small market plus terrible owner equals failure.  The Cardinals do not go through this often to their credit.  As the old saying goes, you cant win them all.   So its likely a rebuild now for St Louis. .  I think they may re examine their pitching starting with Wainright.  Is he just having a bad year?  Could he be injured?  Or is it time to move on to a younger staff?  Much to look at I guess.  Houston takes no damn prisoners.  We have not played them yet and if we do not get out of this short funk, we will get killed by them.  We cant get Means back in the lineup fast enough and what the hell is Mountcastle still doing in Norfolk?  Get his ass back at 1st base and sit the guy filling in. We have a damn good lineup and can get it going right now. Still 17 games above 500 but this is the first 3 game skid of the season.  Losing to the Twins again is not an option. As for your Cardinals, your just going to have to chalk this season up as a bad season.  Cincinnati has waited decades to be relevant again.  They finally are.  I believe the Reds are going to beat out the Milwaukee but the Cubs cant be counted out.  I suppose neither can the Pirates who I cant figure out.  Keller is easily their best starter.   Good pitcher.  But they are not as good as Cincy.

It's funny that you say that about your Orioles.  It's funny because the Saint Louis Cardinals having a bad season is almost like a foreign concept to me.  15 consecutive years with winning record over .500.  This is the worst start to a season for the Cardinals in over 100 years (or something like that).  Like you mentioned, to their credit this doesn't happen very often.  Wainwright is having a very bad year.  Not going out the way he had hoped.  It sucks because Adam Wainwright has been a beloved Cardinal for 19 years/seasons.  I think the only reason he did not retire last year with Molina and Pujols is because he wants to reach 200 wins which at the moment he is 2 shy of that feat.  That, and the fact that he is being paid $17 million this year.  The only rebuild the Cardinals need is in pitching, both starting and relief.  The core offense of the Cardinals is pretty solid, led by Goldschmidt and Arenado.  They have the capacity to score a lot of runs like they did yesterday against the Yankees.  11-4.

As for your Orioles, is this just a fluke year for them?  As far as I know, nobody expected them to be this good, this year.  Same goes for the Texas Rangers who I am rooting for in the American League.  All-Star game coming up real soon, then the second half of the season.

I really feel bad for Buck.  I’m pretty shocked. At least they are not as bad as the Cards who gave up two touchdowns last night.  Not expecting any help from them vs Yankees.  My boys need to beat the Twins before a trip to NY

As much as I hope the Cardinals win a game or two against the Yankees (for your sake), it really will not make a difference for the Cardinals in the standings.  My faith in the Cardinals still has not wavered, however, with each loss, my faith in the Cardinals this year is waning.  Regardless of any future outcome(s) this season, I continue to support the Saint Louis Cardinals, in victory or defeat.

I see Texas won. Perez is one of their best and they are pretty good this year. I am going next week as I have box seats in Tampa.   i am not fooling around.  I paid $65 a seat.  If I had gotten a seat right behind the Orioles dugout it would have cost $130.  Im only a few rows up and its a big difference in price.  Ill be surrounded by Tampa fans no doubt.  Ill wear my new Brooks Robinson jersey.  Road Orioles jersey.   Ill be seeing the two teams with the best two record in baseball.  We are on their heels.  Must keep winning, help is on the way later but not sure when. We  have John Means, probably our best starter coming off Tommy John and boy will he help the rotation.  The kid, G Rodriguez was sent down to Norfolk in AAA and he pitched a 6 inning, 1 hitter.  Might get recalled?  They have this kid Westburg that is tearing up the ball and Holiday , the number one pick in the majors last year, looms.   Go O's!!!!!!  Hope you had fun even though your Cards lost a tough game.

Yes, the Cardinals lost and keep losing.  I'll be honest, it's very hard to see the Cardinals in last place this year or any year (even though that rarely happens).  Still had fun at the game with my girlfriend and brother.  I wore my Molina jersey and my brother wore a blue Rangers t-shirt.  He was amazed at how many people we saw that were wearing Cardinals red jerseys and shirts.  I swear for every 10 people at least 7 were wearing Cardinals attire.  If I didn't know it, I could swear that this game was in Saint Louis at Busch Stadium.  Even when the Cardinals got a hit or a run (which wasn't a lot), there were cheers going on in the stands.  Before we got to the Globe Life Park, I told my brother that if we got separated just look for the guy wearing a red Cardinals jersey.  Once we got there he laughed at that because there were thousands of people wearing red Cardinals Jerseys.  Literally, thousands of people.  Anyway, I am slowly losing all hope for the Cardinals this year.  Slowly.  What remains and always will, is my love, devotion and loyalty to the Saint Louis Cardinals organization.  One losing season in 15 years is not a bad thing (but not a good thing either).  By the way, we never even went to our section (325).  We sat as close to the field as possible.  Seats that were way more then the $15 I paid for.

Have a good time in Tampa and let us know if there were thousands of fans in Tampa wearing Orioles shirts.

  19. Well, tonight I am going to Arlington, Texas to watch the last place Saint Louis Cardinals take on the first place Texas Rangers.  Adam Wainwright is taking the mound for the Cardinals (one of my favorite players).  However, I will be wearing my red Yadier Molina jersey to the game.  It's been a few years since the Cardinals last came to Texas to play the Rangers.  I bought the least expensive tickets available ($15) but I have no plan to sit in those seats.  Once I am in the ballpark, I plan on finding the best empty seats I can find and sit there.  I've done it hundreds of times at baseball games and concerts.  I've never had any problems doing this.  As for the games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, I can watch them on the local Texas Rangers channel.

    Anyways, Go Cardinals!!!

  20. Nice picture and jersey, Rick.

I just read (according to the internet), the 25 most annoying fans in professional sports.  The New York Yankees, the Saint Louis Cardinals, the Boston Red Sox, the Houston Astros and the Chicago Cubs are the only baseball teams that made the list.  I can see and agree with all four teams but not my Saint Louis Cardinals.  I can rest assured that I have nothing to do with this.  Passionate yes, annoying no, although I can probably guess that there may be a couple (or more) here that would disagree with me.  All I ask is this:  how is loyalty to one's favorite team an annoyance?

    Anyways, Go Cardinals!!!

Edited to add:  I believe that someone with no sense of humor would ever post something like this that somewhat seems to disparage their favorite team.  Me, I have a great sense of humor, therefore I have no qualms about posting something like this.  I find it amusing.

2 games is too early to tell, but they finally called up some of the guys who were raking in Triple-A, so maybe that will be the jolt the stagnant Mets offense needs. I still have my doubts & would say at best, the Mets are competing for a wild card, but time will tell....

Hey Paul.  I know the Mets are your team but from what I read from your posts, you seem to view them in a not so positive light.  I say never give up on your team no matter what the situation.  My Cardinals are a perfect example.  As of today, they are 19-26.  Your Mets are 22-23.  I'm sure you have seen a few of my posts in the recent past and I have said that despite the Saint Louis Cardinals worst start to a season in 50 years, I have not (and never will) given up hope that things will turn around for the better.  If they don't, they don't.  However, I am and will always be a strong supporter of the Saint Louis Cardinals regardless of the final outcome for this season (or any season for that matter).

My point:  Stay Positive!!!  Until the Mets play the Cardinals.

Your Cardinals have found their stride on offense.  I guess your main concern moving forward is pitching?  My birds fly into Toronto after giving away game vs Angels.  This Cano, our relived in late innings, if you can believe this, not only has best numbers in majors, but has best relief numbers, era, in MAJOR LEAGUE HISTORY!!!!  Toronto has been a thorn in our side for years.  Gibson goes tonight and he comes off two very tough loss’s where he pitched well but wax unlucky .We need to bust out the lumber

It does seem like the Cardinals have found their stride on offense.  18-1 against the Brewers on Monday and 16-8 against the Dodgers last night.  7 homeruns at Busch last night (4 in the 3rd inning).  2 by Willson Contreras, 2 by Nolan Gorman and 1 by Arenado.  As I mentioned before, it was not the Cardinals lineup that I was concerned about, yes, it was the pitching.  I watched the game last night on the MLB Network and they had mentioned the Cardinals have had 11 blown saves so far this season.  So, yes, it is the pitching.  Wainwright got the win last night but was taken out and the middle reliever gave up a grand slam to Freeman.  Made the game 8-9 until the Cards scored 7 in the bottom of the 8th.  Wainwright has 196 career wins and is hoping to end his career with the Cardinals with 200+ wins.  I'm not sure who is a top pitcher is for the Cardinals to trade for come the trade deadline, but I am sure they are looking.  You probably know more about that than I do.  How about the Cardinals trade for Means?  I do not know anything about him, but you always seem to praise him highly.

  23. 2 hours ago, LedZeppfan1977 said:

The bitch's got lucky and got to the kid.  When Means is ready, ship him to Norfolk.  Payback is coming for the pesky little shit Angels.

The Cardinals got lucky last night with an 18-1 win over the Brewers.  Now the Cardinals are on a real winning streak at 4 games.  This is the Saint Louis Cardinals that I and their millions of fans expect.  Goldschmidt and Arenado are hot at the moment.  I hope it continues...
