Great photos. Thank you for sharing them.
Page and Plant had the same surprised expression. I wonder what happened just before the photographer took this photo. Also, Robert's pants look like a pair Page used to wear when he was in the Yardbirds.
Jimmy being naughty with the cylindrical sofa pillow.
I've read numerous times that Page was slight but seeing him in a t-shirt standing next to Plant drives it home.

Bacon sandwich, a pear and a cup of coffee with evaporated milk in place of Coffee Mate.

Here is a fav of mine when I was a youngster:

Do you remember the episode where he went space walking without a tether? What I didn't grasp back then was that Roger Ramjet was a spoof on the heroic astronaut stories. Just like Underdog was a spoof on Superman.

My grandmother passed away earlier tonight, she had been so ill over the last year and had literally everything thrown at her. I even said to my sister this week that gran had danced with the grim reaper so many times....but she is at peace now which is a blessing and a relief.
I'm sorry for your loss and sorry your grandmother suffered so much.

I know, I was really disappointed that our CIC didn't even mention it.
Actually, President Obama did address Major General Greene's death though not fast enough for some people.

I'm drinking a glass of homemade sangria and eating popcorn.

U.S. Army Major General Harold Greene killed today in Afghanistan.
This is just terrible. It's rare for such a high ranking military officer to be killed in a war zone. This maybe the first time it's happened since World War II.

I hope someone can help me with a question, about the NO QUARTER--UNLEDDED concert DVD, Who are the 4 women in the front row, they keep showing? I think the blond is Robert's sister, and one is Carman. But I don't know the 2 dark hair women.
I haven't seen the DVD but is the second dark-haired woman South Asian in appearance? If so, it could be Najma Akhtar, a British Asian singer Plant worked with and dated during the mid-1990s.

Apparently there's going to be a feature film biopic about Jimi, but his estate refused to let them use the music! Can't even imagine!
Wasn't there some drama years ago over who owned the copyright to Hendrix' works?

People taking pictures at his gigs might annoy him and all that, but really, it sounds he his just a wee bit sensitive about his art. I hope if people start crowdsurfing that he has a similar reaction because they piss me off a lot more compared to an excited dude or his chick taking a selfie
I don't blame him. It's very arrogant for them to act as if the rules don't apply to them; they're not that special. Too many concert goers act as if the price of their ticket entitles them to be inconsiderate of the artists and other concert goers.

Wasn't there some kind of "___s do it better" fad in the '70's?
I remember a similar slogan from that era: "Librarians do it quietly".

Check the "Rest in Peace" thread...
Thanks for the heads up. She'll be missed here.

What happened to Potted Plant?

No spam?
Not today. I'm not a fan of Spam, but it makes a good pate. You just add cream cheese, diced green onions, onion powder, garlic powder, dill and liquid smoke to the Spam in a bowl. Blend the ingredients well, then shape it into a ball and place in the fridge to chill. Once it's set you roll it in chopped walnuts then serve with vegetable crudites and fancy crackers. This also makes a good spread for toasted bagels and a good tea sandwich filling. I use rye cocktail bread and skip the chopped walnuts, when I make tea sandwiches with this pate.

The above photos look familiar. Is this the interview where he talks about his (then) new son-in-law Charlie Jones?
IIRC, it was an American talk show and the host was an attractive African-American woman who teased Plant about letting his daughter marry a musician.

Grilled cheese sandwich and a mocktail of V-8 juice, seltzer water and a dash of tabasco sauce.

One of my favorite photos of the Zeppelin era Robert Plant.

This event was taped by ABC for the in concert series they used to run. Every Friday night around 11:00 they would show some recent concert that was taped.
I watched it when it first aired. I remember thinking Deep Purple's lead singer looked different somehow. I didn't realize it wasn't Ian Gillan until Jon Lord introduced David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

My condolences...
It amazes me how many people think this band is good.
I'm fortunate, Disco Duck, that you think so highly of this song, and I don't - must be extremely hard to write a song that repeats the same line over and over again.
It's catchy and very simple; that's why it's so easy to sing along to it. It's a great audience participation number.

They are alright. To me, they seem to be more like a band that relies more on their style rather than the quality of their songs.
My opinion of them as well. Still, I gotta admit that Rock and Roll All Night kicks ass. One of the great classic rock anthems.

I've often wondered if Ted Nugent cultivates his blowhard jerk persona as part of his act.

Just about party time!
Happy Birthday!

Best wishes to you and yours.
Interesting cake. I don't get the Stonehenge references.

"Their people" (Jimmy and Paul's) and "our people" (Chris & Tony's) NOT "Jimmy and Paul". This is a non-story...dead on arrival. There will never be a reformation of The Firm. For one thing it wasn't a commercial success the first time around. For another, Jimmy said years ago that touring with Paul was like going on the road with his grandmother. They are still friends but you can bet they'll never work together again as a band mates.
Was Page implying that Rodgers was an early-to-bed, no partying type of dude with his "going on the road with his grandmother" comment?

I love both bands but The Who have one advantage over Zeppelin that matters to me: most of their songs are singable. Trying humming along to a Zep song. I suppose you could hum the guitar riffs from Kashmir or Whole Lotta Love but, as great as they are, these aren't songs you can sing along to.

I just learned I need a new water heater. There goes my end-of-the-summer vacation. Sigh....
