Thank you so much for posting these pics of our beloved Jimmy through the years!
He is such an amazing musician and a fashion icon - a true original -hope you are able to post the 77 years soon, which we all love too!
Thanks for your efforts to share these photos with all the fans - we never tire of enjoying them
Cheers - I'm going to try to do them chronologically so 1972 next... I recently tried to collect a pic from every show and quickly realized that you can't... but you find some nice things while you're looking

It's a scarab.
The remark about liking the silver choker wasn't referring to the pic I'd posted directly above, but rather to the necklace seen in some of the earlier pics posted by me and lipslikecherries, i.e. this one:
It's a rare ladyperson who doesn't know what a choker is, I'll bet.

Scylla, is this the same shirt? The lilac colored knit?
I just had another look and I think there's three tops which are either identical or very nearly so, just in three different colours. There's a pale pink one which was worn for at least nine dates in 1969:
Then a white one worn at least twice - 11 July and 18 August (2nd show):
(Sometimes it's b/w photos and you can't tell if it's pink or white). But then there's a darker purple one, worn at least four times I think: 9 August, 18 August (1st show), 31 August, 2 November:
I've been looking through all the live pics I can find in chronological order and this is the sort of thing you start to notice. I quite like the image of Jimmy finding a top he liked and deciding to take one in every colour - very rock star...

No I don't know for sure but many accounts of people who traveled with the band describe the large quantities of drugs that were around, esp. on the Starship. Plus, Jimmy is drinking JD out of the bottle.
I feel a theme coming on... it's "Jimmy Drinking JD (Or Sometimes Beer) Out Of The Bottle".

I recently started trying to collect photos from every show, and quickly discovered that:
a.) It can't be done (for quite a few shows, they just don't exist)
and
b.) The timeline section on this forum is rubbish - it very frequently has two or even three sets of photos (i.e. you can tell because of the different outfits) attributed to one date, and sometimes the same photo under two or three different dates. http://www.ledzeppelin-reference.com and http://www.ledzepconcerts.com are way more reliable.

I'm not sure. The length of the sleeves seems to be the same and it's an unusual sleeve length.
It looks like a women's top more than a man's but it suits the pink pants quite well.
The tuxedo shirt is nice too. There are several drunk Jimmy photos taken when he was wearing that. I read somewhere that Robert was seen wearing it at least once as well.
You may be right - perhaps it's on the pics with the strong purple colour that there's been some heavy-handed artificial colouring.
Tuxedo shirt's probably a better term... in my head it's always the "corset shirt" as I think that's what the dark bit looks like when it's done up.... probably just because I like boys in girls' clothes.
I've never been quite sure whether Jimmy literally wore off-the-peg women's clothes or not, although this top kind of makes you think so:I've never seen a pic of Robert in the other shirt, but I'd love to if anyone has it... I bet he couldn't button it up. But then I don't suppose he'd want to.

This shirt is awesome, is it considered part of a stage outfit, or was it like an everyday shirt too? I wonder if Jimmy still has it. Are there any better pictures? Someone should make a copy of it...or maybe he'd loan it to me to wear for just a little while. I might pop a few buttons but I'd totally sew some new ones back on before giving it back!!!
:lol: I think it's just an off-the-peg daywear thing, but he must have liked it - I think it was worn for about a dozen shows in 1975.

I think that's the one but I don't know about colour as I've never seen a colour pic - I was hoping someone might post one but thought maybe they didn't exist...

Is that right? I don't know - there's also these:
and obviously the colour isn't same, but the second pic kind of looks like it's been artificially coloured. I want to say that the really purple-looking one isn't the same as in all the other pics as it's too dark and the sleeves look a fraction shorter, but I'm not sure. If these three are all from the same date, it's 12 July 1969, I think.

I often wondered what happened to these stage outfits.
He has said that he has them all in storage, all nicely kept. I don't think he throws much away, not Zep memorabilia anyhow - we're talking about a man who's kept every passport he ever had.
New game: I post all the pics I have of a particular outfit and anyone who has other pics of the same one (or can supply info on places, dates etc) shares with the group.
Today's theme is: Jimmy's knitted T-shirt and/or checkered scarf. (There are at least three different occasions here; not quite sure whether it's the same top in the last two pics...)

Huh. I think you might go a long way to find anyone who thinks of Peter as "hot", but that's a really great picture. Do we know who took it (or where, or when?). Amazing you don't see it in books about the band.

Yes, it's the pics from '77 where he's starting to look like an X-ray. (I just read Lisa Robinson's book and she called him "scary skinny" in 1975 but he doesn't look so in photos). I also saw his "Egyptian suit" in the V&A (dated "circa 1975") and it really does look like it's made for a child, to the extent that I just didn't believe the dating. I dunno...the camera adds ten pounds?
Speaking of which, can anyone date these? Even though he looks happy, I find them quite upsetting - the legs. I presumed '77 (stormtrooper boots).

Deluxe CD only here. (I get most stuff on MP3 only these days, so buying a CD at all is pushing the boat out for me).
Remastering: again, fabulous. So much more detail revealed and (unlike in a couple of spots on II) only where you want it and never where you don't (he's somehow managed to tone down that squeak on SIBLY a bit). Heavy things sound bigger, beefier, more muscular; pretty things sound prettier, lighter, sparklier. Light & Shade, indeed. "That's The Way" is particularly lovely - some absolutely beautiful guitar work that just wasn't distinct before. It's the closest you'll get to the sensation of hearing the stuff for the first time. Anyone who's dithering about getting the remasters - do it. I mean, I haven't got money to burn but I really don't resent paying for them again less than two years after doing so the first time; it's all worth it.
Companion disc: "Immigrant Song", "Celebration Day" and "Gallows Pole" aren't really different enough to be more than mildly interesting. "Friends" is great. I like it better without its slightly tuneless vocal line and hippy-dippy lyrics; just sit back and listen to some awesome guitar. "Bathroom Sound" is as good without the vocal as with, or nearly - another opportunity to appreciate an awesome drummer more than you do with the vocal. SIBLY has some guitar sections which are different enough for it to be worthwhile - some really great moments. And "Jennings Farm Blues" and "Key To The Highway / Trouble In Mind" are both cool pieces (both totally new to me, being as yet unfamiliar with the bootlegs), even if the latter is just a tiny bit too white-middle-class-English-boys-trying-to-be-Howlin'-Wolf-and-becoming-parodic. The only thing I really disliked was the alternative mix of "That's The Way" - it sounds too fast, enervated, queasy. Still, just made me love the original more.
Packaging: I went to the local HMV on the day of release and got I and II but their delivery of III hadn't come, so this one was via Amazon. It arrived with a French label on the front ("Album original remasterise par Jimmy Page" etc) and some gibberish inside: "Credit must be given to Bron-Y-Aur, a small derelict cottage in South Snowdonia for painting a somewhat forgotten picture of true completeness which acted as an incentive to some of these musical statements". I wasn't sure if this was someone going nuts with Google Translate or just a bit of the "poetically" mangled syntax one sometimes gets with Mr Plant, but the gibberish continues in the small print ("This stereo record can be played on mono reproducers provided either a compatible of stereo cartridge wired for mono is fitted"), so I guess the former. No matter. It's awesome to have the turning wheel, and there's no hideous original artwork within (as with II). Awesome stuff!
