  1. That's the one I had, it had 3 autographs on the front of it. I bought it back around maybe 1992 at Sam The Record Man on Barrington St in Halifax they had just performed an in-store. I brought that CD to so many parties and introduced so many people to the band's music because of it. One day I came home from a business meeting back around 2009 in June and my house door had been destroyed. Besides high end stereo equipment and stuff like that, they took all of my music. I had a super rare Def Leppard EP from 1979 before they had signed a record deal that went missing with some autographed Anvil stuff and some autographed this and autographed that. That Tea Party indie CD went missing. I remember that night I sat in my basement and actually cried when I was alone because I knew I would never own those rare items again. It's one of those times that makes me angry and I rather not think about it. Spent so many fucking hours at record stores and gigs and waiting in the rain to get shit signed. The whole thing pisses me off because I really earned the right to have stuff in my collection, I wasn't some johnny come lately who listens to a band when they are popular and forgets about them the minute something else catches my attention. I tried to put it behind me, so thanks for reminding me...By the way the Original Tea Party indie album CD itself was red, and it was known to get scratched easily - you really had to baby it.

I'm sorry for reminding you! I didn't realize that is was a bother to you or else I wouldn't have brought it up  I'll leave it at that and I'll not bring it up again, my apologies.

  2. Charles, you said you had an original copy of the Tea Party CD that the members themselves handed to you but it got stolen, correct? I've just been looking around for a digital copy of that and it took me a few days to find a good copy of it. Sounds amazing, cool to hear their stuff in such a lo-fi concept. Those CDs are rare and expensive on Ebay and Discogs! Highest CD on there went for $110!

Now on the hunt for a high res scan of the cover, best one I could find so far is crap.

  3. I was getting in the car the other day while talking to my uncle and I had my iPod plugged into the car so when I turned the car on, A Certain Slant of Light started playing while I was still talking to my uncle. We kinda paused talking for a second and I could tell that he was listening to the song. Right when Martin starts singing "as the colors fade away..." my uncle looks at me and goes "what Doors song is this? this sounds just like Jim Morrison!" I had to explain to him that this wasn't Jim and he was in shock. He absolutely loves them now and jumped on the ticket to go see them live.

Absolutely love this song. These guys are one of my favorite bands now. Thank you guys for encouraging me to listen to them!

  4. Good luck with the UK dates! I bet they'll announce that at a later date, probably around halfway through the tour they're in right now. I hope they can swing back up to Cleveland and play a show here, so far we aren't on the ticket...

  5. Wow Charles, that's definitely a unique show! That's cool you got to meet Burrows for a short second. I could imagine how much pain Jeff would be in after blowing a vocal chord, yikes. No doubt they'll come back and play again for you guys! They possibly couldn't just leave and forget about that show...

On another note, I was just thinking how sick that would be if The Tea Party would open with the L.o.C and have it mixed in with the Song Remains the Same, like intersperse TSRTS in the L.o.C... Extend the 4 minute opener into a six or seven minute onslaught. I could picture inbetween the verses and choruses Jeff could put in some TSRTS inspired solos and the like. Just a thought that would be sweet to see...

  6. Here is another one of my musical stories for you, in Canada we use to have a place called Sam The Record Man, they were the best places. They would always have one in the downtown core of whatever city. In Halifax they had one which was 4 floors right in the heart of the city. I was in there one day because they had something called "The Cargo Catalogue" where you could special order rare stuff and imports from Europe and Asian (this was before the Internet). I'm in there one day, and hear some guys not much older then me, and they setup and play an acoustic in-store set. They had no record deal, and it was The Tea Party. I bought there indie album which was 12 songs on CD that day. That album album was stolen when my home was broken into 5 years ago never to be seen again. Anyways, the band told me they were playing this gig at a place called the Double Deuce in Halifax that night. So I went, and was an instant believer in Jeff Burrows because he could pull it off live. This was back around 91 or 92 or something. On each album which followed, Jeff Burrows developed a style all of his own. But he clearly comes from the power and swagger school of Bonham and does it so well at a gig. Sometimes I think Burrows is the glue that sort of keeps the band grounded. I have a special place in my heart for drummers because they keep the groove going and people in the crowd sort of ignore them for whatever reason.

I think Burrows is ignored because he is a Canuck. I listen to Sirirus XM radio in my car everyday, and I listen to Planetrock all of the time online, and Canadian bands are simply ignored. It's always been this way, even The Guess Who have never been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame which sort of proves my point.

Amazing story Charles! I could never believe seeing them that early in a store! You are one lucky man sir

  7. Exactly 1 week from now, I'll be walking in my first Tea Party gig in 10 years, so fucking excited. I hope to fuck it goes somewhere between 2 and 3.5 hours

Lucky! Let us here know how it goes!

  8. welcome to the Tea Party Icordo, like yourself I`m new to the band have you gotten the new album yet...

I did! I haven't gotten to listen to it yet, I'm working my way through their stuff chronologically. And might I add that the whole Transmission album is fuckin heavy

  9. How exciting! Start at the beginning and take your time. There's so much good stuff.

For me splendor solis is the best led zeppelin album that led zeppelin didn't make...if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Oh trust me I will! I'll definitely enjoy myself while working through their material. That makes complete sense, I getcha man. Excited to get started on their stuff!!

  10. I'm curious as to when those new Destroyer boots would be available, I'm always up for hearing a different version of this show

EDIT: I wonder if these new Tarantura releases are gonna sound better than Winston's "Dr. Who" release, that's my go-to version of this show

  11. I would assume he has had access to it, but it doesn't change the fact that he's still a slimy fucker in cahoots with bootleggers, likes to blab (AA is one of the people responsible for why we don't have Freezer's Baton Rouge '77 recording in circulation) and generally is one of those people who gives Zeppelin collectors a bad name...

Oh brother, this guy. I read what you wrote about what happened to Freezer on that other thread and that is just downright WRONG. I getcha why this guy would be hard to believe, he is one very slimy fucker...

  12. ...And besides which, the Black Beauty site only lists the myriad of different boots for the common "Oh Fuck!" April 28 source. The only sites I've read actual confirmation of the second source are Argenteum Astrum's site (and he isn't exactly the most trustworthy collector in the Zeppelin trading community) and over at Steve Hoffman's site which is where I recall first hearing of the second April 28 source in the first place...

That's the site! Yes, thank you for mentioning that, Nutrocker. Where did he get that the second source was taped "on platform usually used for television camera for sports broadcasts"?

Has he had access to that second source?

  13. No, it was just a written archive with reviews and different documentation for each source and each boot release. I remember it being under the helm of one or two guys that did all of the archiving themselves, no actual audio. Although that website is helpful, it doesn't have any written reviews for the different tape sources and all of the documented boots like that one website I was thinking of.
