"A select few" doesn't sound like just Pontiac & Seattle though. Out of 44 shows, a select few could be as many as 7 or 8.

    And then I woke up...

7 to 10 sounds reasonable. . I think it also had to do with the venue as well. . I'm just spit balling. .I believe we will still be in the wind on this after the 50th rolls on by. . We may never know. . shame

Dave Lewis says "All the 1977 concerts were filmed and recorded for the band. What happen to those shows who knows. Maybe when Kevin Sheerly looked through the vault said most shows were not good enough for release.

I just got through to Mr. Lewis and he said he was miss quoted and that he believed a select few were.  And it makes me wonder. .

  3. Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us, 'pon us
But I know that I love you so
    Oh, but I know
    That I love you so
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the wind, they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
    I see the torch
    We all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient
Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall
    Just a little rain

Yes, hell of a show. Do you remember all the people in the hotel adjacent to the amphitheater? Everyone was either out on the balconies or hanging out their windows. I was with my brother at the show and thought...why didn't we think of that?

LOL I do remember that!! Thinking at the time god what a helluva view!! And JP's lasers. . oh and STH with no vox. . I ended up in front by the moat . . stoned. . MTV was there and recorded the show. . couldn't believe when I saw that on Ebay about 10 years ago. .

Oh And Jason with the stand of electric drums. . LOL Killer!!!

What I found somewhat peculiar as well is that we had both Robert & Jimmy performing that year within a few months of each other...just like in 85' which was also the last time both were in Phx on their respective tours at the time. Went to all four gigs and loved all of them, great shows.

I too was at the Mesa Amp JP show. . LOL Had to break up a huge boulder in the front of my dads new home in Glendale and then he drove me all the way to Mesa, went home, and came all the way back to get me.  I thanked him again for that not to long ago:):) Hard to believe it was 30 years ago. .

    PS I don't remember a opener for JP. .

Lucky me (sarcasm) we had Mission UK. Oh no, heaven forbid we got SRV or Joan Jett, that was just way too much to hope for. Instead the goddamned Mission UK. Good news is Phoenix heckled the singer off the stage, then the rest of the band went into about one minute of some improved punk tune beating the living shit out of their instruments. They finally sounded great and the crowd was loving it. Then they stopped, all left the stage except the drummer who left his kit, came to the foot of the stage, flipped everyone off and left.

    Brilliant!

My second ever show. . I remember it being M UK and them getting throttled off the stage. The crowd was ruthless that particular evening:) Got a bootleg of the show a couple years back and Percy and his band were killer that night.  One of the highlights of my life.

May 31, 1973 - Los Angeles -- Bonzo "banging his balls out" on his 25th birthday; would've been 70 today 😪❤️  Perhaps Strider would care to share his recollections of the show? 🤞

Makes me wish we had a recording for 5/31/77 Greensboro -- Bonzo's Birthday Party, Vol. II

Doing the same. . It's hard to believe that this show is 45 years old. The Wendy version is the best I've heard and it sounds damn good today. RIP BONZO

It's good to put a person behind the name. Awesome-Wicked art! Would you mind talking about the one on your right shoulder? I'm curious. It looks like a symbol. Happy New Year Bozoso73! I hope you enjoy 2018.

THX Panther HNY to you too brother!!!:) Its funny that you asked . . If you look close enough you can see my first tattoo covered by the waves just above the fish head. . Bonzo's symbol. . 17 and still in HS some dope said he would do it for 45$. . It looked like shit so that prompted me to go back to the guy to get the swan song on my right forearm 3 days later . . I got home and was like what the fuck did I do!!!! It ended up alright as I got the Zep symbols across my back 20 years ago and my right arm was saved with some tattoo trickery. .I got lucky because it could have been much worse:):)

The decision to film the final three shows of the tour at MSG on 27-29 July '73 was very much a last-minute decision on Jimmy's part; Joe Massot had approached the band previously about filming a concert performance but was declined... until Jimmy and 'G' decided in early July that year it would be a good idea after all, and hired Massot literally at a moment's notice, who then had little to no time to hurriedly assemble a crew and get their tails to Uncle Sam to start filming.  Most of the backstage 16mm-shot footage was not captured in MSG but on previous dates on that final leg leading up to the final three dates that were shot on 35mm and used for the movie.  It was all a little haphazard if truth be told, in concept and execution, but God help me, for all it's flaws, I still love it!!!

With hindsight, they should have waited, but it probably seemed a good idea at the time - cocaine's a helluva drug, don't ya know! - and besides, those were both heady days and witchy times anyway...

IMO, Joe Massot and his crew are responsible for what I consider to easily be the best concert footage of Zeppelin ever captured.

I couldn't have said either of these things any better.  It's always great to me when someone digs up a topic from the past (thread is 8 years old).  I don't mind the edits to the music.  Most bands did it back in the day.  The fact is they weren't playing 3 minute Stones songs because there was improv going on every night.  It's the video that kills me.  I don't mind the fantasies. . it's the sequencing that is all over the place. These are my musical heroes so a little insight on what the UK means to the guys and their music is pretty cool to me (I'm from PHX. . its a desert if you get my meaning).  I'm glad that G decided to do the gangster scenes instead of showing off his cars like he intended.  It's sucks that the visual representation of the band live wasn't properly documented.  While hastily put together it doesn't seem that from a directors perspective it was taken seriously.  I mean how many cameras were filming?  There are not a lot of long shots to be seen of the whole band in action and lucky for us they went to Shepperton otherwise I think it would be 2 hours of Percy's crotch. However what we do have when it's synced is pure magic and we are lucky to have it.  Remember this was a band that gave us albums and live performances and that was about it.

Surely this must go down as Peter Grant's greatest single fuck up in regards to managing the band

If you read his autobiography he stated hiring John Bindon was the biggest mistake in his career.  Although the movie was a bitch for them it was still very profitable.

There is something rather stupid in not taking a long break imidiately after you start to have voice problems

Easier said than done.  Certainly when Percy got sick in the first weeks of the 75 tour shuffling around a date or two is one thing but to take a LONG break as you stated in the middle of the 1975 tour of the United States would never happen.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS ZEP HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
