  1. Yay Kyna!!!

I love Barnes and Noble. I've thought about applying there because I DO need a change of scenery. LOL

The issue? I can't walk into that place and our with just one book. I can leave with NO books, but not just one. I end up leaving with a freakin' pile. LOL

I know what you mean; not to mention spending a fortune at Starbucks while we browse (and if all 5 of us are there, that alone is easily $15-20) :)

  2. I am very happy tonight, because I finally got a JOB!! Man, it was hard to get a job here in the area I'm in...

I'm going to be a supervisor at the new Barnes & Noble store in town, and it's so similar to the place I worked at in Canada, that I'm not as scared about my first day as I would be otherwise :) I start Monday...I have full-time hours, with BENEFITS...yay health insurance!!! :thanku:

    That's wonderful; congratulations!! :D I love B&N.

  3. Oh yeah; I really liked them back in the day. I agree Candy O was the best. It was definitely a very new sound when it hit; I think they put out an album a year while I was in high school. I saw them live once; I think it was Richmond VA for the Panorama tour. I'm afraid it was not one of my favorite concerts; they sounded good, but they just kind of stood there and played. They didn't interact with the audience at all, and as I recall, the songs sounded exactly like they did on the albums.

  4. Maroon 5, with The Hives and Sarah Bareilles Oct. 8 in Charlottesville VA. 2 big thumbs up on Maroon 5 and also Sarah, who we (daughter and I) had never heard of before, but whose CD we bought within days of the concert. It was my daughter's first concert :)

The Hives were a bit much for me; I probably would have loved them when I was in my 20s, though.

  5. I saw the Police on their Synchronicity tour in '83; it was a great show. REM opened, but we got lost on the way to the arena and missed them :(. I had all of the Police's albums/cassettes, and then bought the boxed set of CDs about 10 years ago. I especially liked their earlier stuff; including Sting's appearance on "The Secret Policeman's Other Ball", when he did unplugged versions of Roxanne and Message in a Bottle. I had that album (vinyl) and video; not just for Sting though; the whole thing was fantastic. I also thought he was very cool in Quadrophenia :) I don't listen to them much these days though; they toured nearby this fall, and tickets were extremely high $$ so I passed.
