  1. Agreed... I would rather see Robert catching some attention (whether it be good, bad or indifferent) any day over having to hear another repeat story about fucking twits like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, or <insert celeb whorebag here>.

How are these dumb broads still getting attention? I can already predict tomorrow's news. Lindsay Lohan will wreck a BMW, and some over-payed millionaire soccer player will get with some shitty 1990's pop star. A little played out by now, no?

At least the Obamanator is stealing a little bit of their thunder.., though he's getting old already...

Anyways, congrats Robert. Despite what a lot of people thought about it, you stuck with your guns and won 5 Grammys... I can't really think of a bigger way to give em all the middle finger.

  2. Newbie here, though I'm a long time Led Zeppelin fan.

I was DEVASTED when XM's "Led" channel went on "hiatus" in March, to be returning "later in the year." As I rarely listen to music on XM (or anything much, other than the AC/DC station, for a while) I did not realize they had come back on in Nov. I only discovered it in late Dec., and we all know how that turned out. :(

I, like many here, would like the station brought back, regardless of the flaws it had. I didn't mind the repeats so much, as it just liked having it on, and not having to hassle with CD's, etc..., to hear my favorite band.

    So...what to do?

I'm not a litigious sort (used to be a lawyer but hated working with "them") but it occurs to me that I've seen class actions started (and won!) over far less than the cancelling of a paid-subscription station.

    No--I'm serious--walk with me a minute....

For example, Mercedes-Benz had a class action lawsuit against them--which M-B LOST--because the tires on their S-Class cars developed "flat spots" if the cars sat on them too long. But guess what? That's what happens to the tires on heavy cars that don't get driven much by rich people who own more than one car, and don't drive their $100,000.00+ cars every day. IOW, there was nothing wrong with the tires, and nothing wrong with the cars, and yet M-B LOST the class action against them, and had to pay (albeit in the form of certificates toward the partial purchase of new cars) as a result of the class action suit.

My point is--the mere threat of a CLASS ACTION by paid subscribers who LOST content/value, as a result of the recent Sirius-XM merger, would most likely be taken seriously (or "siriusly?") by Sirius/XM

Weren't we all told all of these fairy tales about how the merger of XM and Sirius was going to result in MORE choice for the consumer? (Despite mergers being antithetical to the very idea of a free marketplace--Adam Smith would be rolling in his grave, and I thought we had laws against "trust-building"?). We were also told the merger would result in LOWER SUBSCRIPTION FEES, right? Except that that hasn't happened yet, either.

Anyway, XM and Sirius had to go before the FCC in hearings, I believe, prior to this merger, to lie about how this merger was supposed to benefit US. Of course, these hearings turned out to be just a whitewash to allow the merger to proceed (despite the fact that ONE satrad company instead of two is prima facie LESS COMPETETION, and therefore LESS CHOICE and LESS VALUE for the consumer!) and here we are.

So...are there any lawyers on these boards who still practice law? Better yet, any lawyers who practice communications law, or who work for one of the giant firms which typically feed at the CLASS ACTION trough?

Ideally, we need a senior partner at such a law firm who is a HUGE Led Zeppelin fan, and is willing to entertain such a case. Actually, even a mere letter from such a partner, to the right person at Sirius/XM, saying that the firm has been approached, and is considering such action, could be enough to motivate them to bring the station back. IOW, the mere threat of litigation is often all that is needed to motivate the typical, risk-averse, corporate bean-counter.

I seriously think we could all become plaintiffs in a CLASS ACTION OF ILL-SERVED XM/SIRIUS customers...I really do. Whether we got any money is not the point--the point is to force XM/Sirius to listen to us and BRING BACK THE LED ZEPPELIN CHANNEL!

    Ken I getta "Amen"?

I've looked around on the "interwebs," and I haven't found anyone cranked about the cancellation of the Led channel. But that doesn't mean there aren't more out there like us--I'd like to see this thread used to rally support for any and all efforts to force Sirius-XM to bring back the Led channel again. If any mods think that this should be a new thread, by all means, please feel free to move my post and start a new thread. I just want to get the ball rolling and feel that the recent nature of the FCC hearings and merger mean that there is a good chance Sirius-XM could be "motivated" to bring the channel back, if we act soon....

Great Forum, btw.... I've only just started checking it out, but the depth of knowledge here, about my favorite band, is pretty astounding. I can't wait to read more here!

You embody everything that's wrong with the world. You aren't here because of Led Zeppelin, you're here because you're greedy and think making up B.S. lawsuits is the way to solve everything.

    Money money fucking money.

    Get bent.

  3. I feel like I re-discovered a great band today.

I've always respected Fleetwood Mac..., but today I found out that their early stuff was quite a departure from their commonly-played stuff.

I heard it, and I loved it... I had no idea they were so bluesy back then!

  4. Now...I hope you won't have me banned but I'm listening to a Rick James CD. I found it in a discount bin at a local department store...

He was popular in the disco era...this CD is a compilation of his tunes..sure it's disco but it also has ballads and good funky tunes...with a brass section on many tunes

Hey it's Feburary..I thought some funky music would help get my old bones movin'...and it worked!!!

You and I, Mary-Jane are some of the tunes...In the tune Stormy Love, he talks as well as sings..

Busta Rhymes paid tribute to Rick in one of his videao...there is a mural of Rick on a wall and Busta incorporated Rick's voice at the end of the video...

    R.I.P. Rick James

    Juliet :stereo:

What do you mean, banned? Rick James is great!

"Do ya love me Maaar-ryyyyy Jaaaaane? (Maaaaaarrryyyyyy Jaaaa-haaaaane!)"
