  1. I thought I might resurrect this topic to see if any of the newer members might like to reply to this purely "hypothetical" topic. I started this topic because I wanted the people who would reply to actually think long and hard about what question they would ask Jimmy Page if any of us had/got the chance to meet Mr. Page. Especially now that Jimmy Page's official website is now up and running and doing very well.

  2. please don't think that i am calling you are a liar, i just find it strange that you remember so many details, yet you can't remember your girlfriends name. and she seemed quite important to you, as you really wanted to take her to the concert. keep thinking, i'm sure it will come to you. perhaps you are still friends with others from your school, and they may remember her. or maybe your old neighbours or family members?

in any case, if it's not important to you, then forget it :)

I happen to agree with you, slave to zep. I am not calling stryder a liar either, however, I do not really believe he can recall from memory an event that he witnessed as a 10 or 11 year old kid, under the influence of alcohol and quaaludes, that happened about 40 years ago in such detail . In another thread stryder posted that he did admit that bootlegs of these shows he "attended" as a 10/11 year old kid did help him for details in these "stories" that he wrote.

I also find it very strange that after so much detail a 10/11 year old kid can remember now as a 50+(?) adult and he cannot even remember the last name of his 11 year old girlfriend at the time they attended these gigs. In my opinion, that "makes me wonder" about the truth and accuracy of his "stories".

Case in point: stryder says that there some things from his childhood that are complete blanks, however, he can remember in so-called vivid detail that:

"As Rock and Roll progressed, with Jimmy doing his signature Rock and Roll stagger step, Trudy and I were hopping up and down on our seats, standing on our seats the only way we could see over the grownups in front of us. After the guitar solo, when Jimmy did his little leap, Trudy and I jumped as well, as various girls around us squealed". (his quote).

He can remember doing that but cannot remember "Trudy"'s last name. Please, and that is just one of one hundred details he states that I could mention that he vividly recalls. I will say that it makes for a good story (only because I love Led Zeppelin), but I do not think that he is being completely honest when he says that he remembers all this at such a young age and now has been compelled to tell his "story". I don't buy it and it were made into a book, I would not buy it.

The only things I believe about what he writes about are the words and lines that I have already read by distinguished authors and journalists that actually knew and travelled with Led Zeppelin. He seems to almost quote them verbatim and then tries to pass them off as his own "memories". I love to say this but I am not that naive and gullible to believe any of this. (By the way, I think that plagiarism is a serious and punishable offense).

  3. Any relationship between them presumably would have been fleeting. Born in 1951, Patti was raised in New York. She was living in London in the late 60s and got involved in a relationship with Cat Stevens. Jimmy was allegedly at the same party those two met each other at. However, Jimmy met Charlotte Martin on his birthday in Jan 1970, the same year Mick Jagger started dating Patti, the then 19-year-old New York actress and model. Fast forward, in 1982 she gave birth to a son, Jesse, fathered by actor Don Johnson. Patti also shares three children - Emmelyn, Alexandra and Liam - with firefighter Terry Quinn.

That is cool. I found a clip on YouTube with Pamela Des Barres and Patti D'Arbanville at some kind of book reading for Pamela's then book, "Let's Spend the Night Together". Patti gets up to read from her chapter from the book and says this about Jimmy Page.

"To this day, the only person I have ever been tongue-tied around completely was Jimmy Page. He was the like the most gorgeous man I had ever seen in my life. He must have thought that I didn't like him but the words just wouldn't come. Jimmy Page was just like a painting, therefore, I was unable to say a word".

This occurred (according to Patti) at some party in England that also included Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Cat Stevens. She did not specify the year, however, I think that it was sometime in 1968 or 1969.

I also remebered reading somewhere that Patti hung out with Jimmy sometime in the mid 1970's when Led Zeppelin were in Los Angeles.

  4. I thought I would bring your thread back from the Dead. You may have over 3,900 "hits" but your thread actually slipped into the Page 2 of this Master Forum. (Mine, by the way, has not slipped into the Page 2 in well over a year or two). To me, that says a hell of a lot. And, No, it does not take a Genuis to start such a topic of "Led Zeppelin or Related on YouTube" as I have, however, what I did start, has surely made many, many Led Zeppelin fans Happy because my initial plan all along was to bring Music and Videos (and interviews and so forth) to the forefront when It comes to ANYTHING LED ZEPPELIN OR RELATED. I AM EXTREMELY PROUD THAT MY INITIAL IDEA HAS BECOME SO POPULAR AND SEEMS TO HAVE TAKEN A LIFE OF ITS OWN.

I am currently re-reading the AeroSmith book, "Walk this Way", and in one paragraph, it says that Peter Grant once managed Joe Jammer. As far as I have read (known) I never knew of Peter Grant "actually managing" Joe Jammer. I realize that Joe Jammer was somewhat on the peripherally when Led Zeppelin came into existence. Is this an accurate statement that Peter Grant managed Joe Jammer at some point, early in the rise of Led Zeppelin?

  5. If Aleister Crowley was called or considered to be an "evil" person or a true "Satanist" during his actual lifetime and really wanted to establish a new religion that countered "Christianity" (and if this happens to be a fact) why do alot of people consider it "sacrilege" to say that Jimmy Page was not of the same ilk? Why would someone as eccentric and talented as Mr. Page go as far as collecting almost every conceivable aspect of a man as "wicked" as Mr. Crowley? From what I have read, Jimmy Page had acquired some of Crowley's abodes, robes, books, hats, canes, and other merchandise through high level auctions and the sort.

Why is Jimmy Page filmed climbing a mountain on the night of a full moon somewhere outside of His (and former Crowley residence) Boleskine House? Was not Crowley a rugged mountain climber back in His day?

My point is: I could care less if my favorite Person in the Whole World, Mr. Jimmy Page, is/was a Satanist or not. I have loved Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin for over 27 years and I happen to consider my self an Agnostic. Sorry to say, however, Religion of ANY kind does not interest me in the least.

  6. I absolutely Love this version, sadly I think it to be better, mainly because it has a mystique, and darkness to it! Makes it sound more more Metal like! I'll perform this version in concerts!

"In the Light" is my favorite Led Zeppelin song. "In the Morning" and "Take Me Home" are great variations of "In the Light".

By the way, blloop, I also reside in Plano, Texas. Welcome to this Awesome Led Zeppelin website/forum.

  7. This may have been already posted by Deborah J. because I know she is a big Zebra fan like me. However, this Randy Jackson video is, I think, simply amazing. I feel he captures the essence of all of "Carouselambra". I can also feel Jonesy and Bonzo in this song even though it is only Randy and his 12-string guitar. Beautiful and Amazing.

  8. This may or may not have already been mentioned before, however, I would like to thank Canada for their help in "Operation Overlord": "D-Day". I would venture to guess that most people think of "D-Day" as a mostly American operation, but the fact is that the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada were all very vital in the operation and sucess of "Overlord".

  9. Well our friend here :P (spidersandsnakes) is not answering these questions, regarding those he feels are terrorists, since he's now been officially banned. Don't know if it was one particular thing he said or cumulative. I'm sure he'll go under another name in due time.

If this is true that is too bad. I was really hoping he would FINALLY answer the questions I have repeatedly asked him (yes, about his rants about why he considers some Americans and American Institutions terrorists). I think this is important to me because he says such things either out of anger or desperation and never backs up his comments with why he says or feels such things. I mean seriously, can anyone really believe anything this dude posts when he calls the former mayor of New York City a terrorist? Especially when said mayor was right in the middle of what was happening in NYC on the day of 9/11/2001.

If you are out there somewhere please answer and explain yourself about your posts. It really does seem now that I am not the only one who is awaiting your reply.

  10. No worries, I can accept your feelings......I'm only debating:):)!!!

So I guess you are never going to explain yourself when it comes to the question that I asked you about? At least say that you are not, instead of avoiding my question. That I could respect more than your obviously avoiding the question. In case you have already forgotten, why do you say this: this is from your own post (#533).

"I would add other names to that terrorist list:

    The past Bush administration

    The American Gun lobby

    Ghaddafi and his govt.

The armies of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Syria

Giuliani and his band of Mafiosis

    The CIA

    The FBI

    ....................and many, MANY others :):)"

Wouldn't it be much easier to answer the question and explain yourself for this ridiculous statement that you made?

I think a few of us are waiting for your explanation. You said these things, why are you afraid to back up your own words? If somebody challenged me like this, I would surely give my reasons. What are yours?

  11. Hardly, mine is based on facts while yours is based on your opinion only and how is it biased when I speak for all those involved?

No-one doubts America's involvement or contribution to stopping the war, it took two atomic bombs dropped on Japanese soil to cease hostilities in the Pacific.

You mate, are looking like the biggest American ARSE kisser anyone ever had the misfortune to come across.

Do you speak with a fake American accent too?

I bet you even embarrass Americans! :)

I can't wait for more of your pearls of wisdom!

I would hardly call this dude an American ARSE kisser. He has repeatedly called George W. Bush, Rudolph Giuliani, the F.B.I, the C.I.A, the American National Guard (among many) terrorists or terrorists organizations. I have asked him to please explain why he calls these Americans and/or American Institutions terrorists, yet he has never done so. I am really curious as to why he calls Rudy Giuliani a terrorist.

For someone who claims to be a teacher, he does not seem to be too articulate when it comes to the way he "expresses" himself when it comes to the words he uses and the way he types them. Sorry spiders, just the way I feel.

By the way, I know you are going to read this and reply in the same manner you seem to reply to me and others so, I ask you once again, in your reply would you please explain why you call who you call, terrorists. If you do that I will not bring it up ever again (unless absolutely necessary).

  12. If the world has to ever thank the U.S.A. , it's for one important thing....THE WIPING OUT OF THE RIGHT-WING regimes in WWII:):):)......thanx America, you did the best thing you could have ever done....WIPE OUT THE RIGHT-WING govts of this world......some are showing their UGLY heads again, but next time the FIRE:):):)!!!!!

What the Fuck are you "Jabberwocking" on about now?

I think I read somewhere in this topic that you claim to be a teacher. Is that correct? If so, I really hope that you not a teacher of American history or a teacher of the English language because if you happen to teach young, immpresionable children either one of these topics/subjects, then those kids are Fucked.

And, if you happen to live in or be European, no wonder why so many Europeans do not like the United States of America. It is because of people like you, snakesandspiders, spreading your anti-American diatribe.

At least people like electrophile and aquamarine seem to make some sense whenever they disparage and denigrate their own country. Sense to themselves, no sense to ME.

By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!! May you live another 235 Prosperous Years!!!!!!!!!

  13. 1. This has NO relevance whatsoever to this topic....if you want to know my nationality, look up the other posts in this forum:)!

    2. Based on the facts that I have witnessed thru the years ever since the BRUTAL MURDERS of GREAT Americans like Abraham Lincoln, JFK and MLK and since the start of the MOST REVOLTING war in Vietnam.....many of my friends' brothers served in that war and I HAVE DIRECT reports on what really happened in that DIRTY SICK war (e.g. American jounalists paying the opposing factions [North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese factions] to fight in order to take photos and reporting the scoops!!!).

    NONSENSE MY ASS:):):)!!!!

My Father enlisted in the Marines and served Two (2) tours of Vietnam. He did His first tour and then asked to do another tour of His own valition. He was there and fought for His Country, the Great United States of America.

Your brothers friends reports are just that, reports. My own Father, who is still alive and 66 years old and retired from South Western Bell Telephone Company, (now AT&T), was there and fought and lived during this "conflict".

By the way, I did not ask you about Lincoln, Kennedy or King.

Did you really witness the "BRUTAL MURDERS of GREAT Americans like Abraham Lincoln, JFK and MLK?".

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865. Did you really witness that? Were you there at the Ford Theater and see him get murdered? Were you in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 and see JFK get murdered? Were you in Memphis and actually see MLK get murdered from a snipers bullet?

Yes, I say nonsense because you really do not know what you are saying/typing. You seem to be one of the other dumb and ignorant people who think that you are always right.

By the way, you still never said why you call Bush, Giuliani, the FBI, CIA and the American National Guard Terrorists. Please, if you reply, stick to the comment at hand.

And for the record, I was born in Galveston Island, Texas. I am proud of that fact. You cannot even answer the very simple question of where you were born. That, in itself, says alot about you. Very simple and basic question and you refuse to give a simple and basic answer. Think about that.

  14. No, HISTORY and ALL THE REPORTS THAT FOLLOWED on the matter SAY ITt:):):)!!!!!

Can I ask you two questions?

    1. What country were you born in and what country do now reside in?

    2. Where does all your Bush, Giuliani, FBI, CIA, National Guard, etc... hatred come from? Can you please explain why you insist on calling these Americans and/or American Institutions terrorists? What is your reason, logic or rationale for saying that? I am very curious to know why you say such absurd nonsense? Obviously not nonsense to you but complete nonsense to me. Please explain.

  15. Only A FEW WORDS: THE AMERICAN NATIONAL GUARD ARE A BUNCH OF MURDEROUS, TERRORIST ASSASSINS. PERIOD.!!!!

Are you starting up with this all over again? Now you are saying that "THE AMERICAN NATIONAL GUARD ARE A BUNCH OF MURDEROUS, TERRORIST ASSASSINS. PERIOD.!!!!"

This, along with what you said awhile ago in your post, #533. And I quote you:

"I would add other names to that terrorist list:

    The past Bush administration

    The American Gun lobby

Giuliani and his band of Mafiosis

    The CIA

    The FBI..."

I think that you either need to read more newspapers or go back to a better school then you went to (if you even went to school) and take another history class. If you continue to say such absurd things, the next thing you may say is that the United States of America's Armed Forces are a bunch of "MURDEROUS, TERRORIST ASSASSINS" and that They should be added to your list.

  16. Rush was my very first concert for the "Grace Under Pressure" tour in, I believe, 1985 or 1986. I still think that every song on "Grace Under Pressure" is absolutely brilliant. Even though this album was when Rush really began to get more into keyboards and synthesizers, as opposed to the heavy riffs of Alex Lifeson, I still love listening to this (and all) of Rush's albums.

I saw them last year in Dallas, Texas on September 26, 2010 and again 3 weeks ago (June 19, 2011) in Austin, Texas. Even though they happened to play the exact same set, both concerts were truly amazing. The Dallas gig was outdoors while the Austin show was indoors. Same set, two totally different atmospheres. I think that there only a few bands who could do that nowadays and Rush is probably at the top of that list.

  17. Your ignorance has nothing to do with the fact that a thread you made has 40,000 views. I'm not sure how you've linked the two together?

Also, did you not see my post above about this being the other bands/music subforum? This part of the site is specifically intended for threads such as this. It's your problem if you don't want to widen your palette and just stick to Zeppelin. But don't come in here spouting your garbage about how Clapton hasn't been influential, it simply isn't up for debate.

Believe it or not, I happen to like Eric Clapton and alot of the Music he has made. "Cocaine" used to be my theme song, when a long time ago, I used to do alot of Cocaine.

About the topic I started that does have over 40,000 views, I am just saying that if I was so "ignorant" how come the topic I started still seems to be so Popular? Who would view and post replies from someone who happens to be so ignorant. If this is your justification, then I think you owe an apology to over 800 people.

  18. In the words of John McEnroe, "You CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!"

First of all, you've NEVER heard of Derek Trucks? That disqualifies you from the discussion immediately. Anybody with a modicum of interest in blues-rock guitar knows who Derek Trucks is.

Second, Jimi Hendrix had more acolytes than SRV...Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Ted Nugent, Mick Ronson, Hilel Slovack, John Frusciante for starters.

Lastly, if you're too ignorant to know the history behind the "Clapton is God" phrase, then once again, that disqualifies you from being able to objectively discuss Clapton. I don't need to list 100 players...just one will suffice: Jimmy Page.

Yep, it was Clapton himself that inspired Jimmy (and hundreds more) to switch to the Les Paul/Marshall combination. Here's another name...Eddie Van Halen.

And I'm not even a Clapton fan. But your ignorance is alarming.

Maybe my modicum has no interests in who the fuck Derek Trucks is.

I will skip all the other BS you speak of.

If my ignorance is so alarming, how come I have started one of the most viewed and replied to topics on this Great and Awesome Led Zeppelin website.

Led Zeppelin or Related on YouTube?. 40,517 views and 1,154 replies in just over 24 months. I do not see any topics that you have started that even come close to that. If you consider me so ignorant, how come my topic still receives so many views and posts? I started that topic so that many other Led Zeppelin fans could have a place to see, hear and enjoy the Music of, of course, Led Zeppelin or Related.

This is a LED ZEPPELIN website. Not an Eric Clapton website. If I was posting or commenting on an Eric Clapton website than maybe I would be disqualified.

  19. He could name a hundred and you would still disagree. My point is this is an Eric Clapton Thread, or at least it was. Now I can look forward to ten or twenty more posts concerning the mighty influence of Jimmy Page here, as if there weren't enough threads available for that elsewhere.

First of all, I think that by making the title of this topic: "Clapton is God" first and not "the Eric Clapton Thread" was sure to bring up or start some controversy. If I started a topic about Eric Clapton I would never put "Clapton is God" as the title under a topic on this "official" Led Zeppelin website. That is just how I perceive things. Maybe I am wrong, however, I could be right.

Second of all, that idiot jahfin could never name a hundred guitar players that have been influenced or emulate the guitar style of Eric Clapton. You know why? Because there is no where near 100 guitar players that would cite Mr. Clapton as a heavy influence. Alive or Dead.

  20. If anyone was in doubt that you're a fucking idiot this is even further proof. Only a "couple"? What size rock do you live under? By the way, I'm not a "Clapton is God" person but how one could be so totally unaware of Clapton's influence is beyond me. Ever heard of Duane Allman? George Harrison? Derek Trucks? Robert Cray? ..and that's just naming a few off of the top of my head.

Hey! Hey! What is with the name calling you Fucking Asshole? Just kidding. You can call me any name in the book. Coming from you, call me all the names you want because they do not mean anything to me. Just words from someone I will never meet.

By the way, I live in Plano, Texas. The 69th largest city in America. I think that maybe you have seen that Geico commercial about people living under rocks way too much.

Back on topic. Didn't Duane Allman get killed in a motorcycle accident almost 40 years ago? If Duane Allman was influenced by Eric Clapton that influence was somewhat brief.

George Harrison. I would say that George Harrison was a more known guitar player before Eric Clapton. I do not see or hear that much, if any, influence of Clapton on Harrison.

Derek Trucks. Never heard of him.

Robert Cray. The only Robert Cray song I have heard is "Smoking Gun". I can hear Clapton's influence on that song. Great Song. Don't know about his other songs, though.

If these 4 came off the top of your head, I would like you to really think (and don't hurt yourself) and try and name me 8 more already famous and great guitar players that have been heavily influenced and/or emulate the guitar style and sound of Mr. Eric Clapton.

Call it a challenge. If you can, you win and I am a fucking idiot. If you can't then I will feel slightly vindicated. I already said that I could name dozens of already great and famous guitar players who have been influenced by Jimmy Page and have admitted as such. Dozens compared to 4 is not even close. Even if you can name 8 (or more) that still would not even come close to the Mighty Influence of Mr. James Patrick Page.

  21. This is obviously my own opinion, but I would have to say that Jimmy Page is more of a GOD than Eric Clapton. This is my reasoning for saying that:

    1. Jimmy Page has influenced more past, present and future guitar players than anyone else, ever. Jimi Hendrix is another very influential guitar player, however, how many guitar players emulate and sound like Hendrix? Steve Ray Vaughn? Yes, but who else? Same goes for Eric Clapton. Who sounds and plays like Clapton? None that I can recall at the moment. Yes, I am sure there are a couple, but enough to still call Eric Clapton, GOD? I don't think so.

    2. Led Zeppelin is still a very relevant Band and still a Force to be reckoned with 31 years after the dissolution of the band.

    3. I could name dozens and dozens of great guitar players in their own right who would say that Jimmy Page has played an important part in their own style and careers:

    Joe Perry

    Alex Lifeson

    Ace Frehley

    Joe Walsh

    Steve Clark

    Phil Collen

    Randy Jackson

    K.K. Downing

    Glen Tipton

    Vivian Campbell

    Dave Murray

    Adrian Smith

    Slash

Dean DeLeo... the list can go on forever.

If more proof is needed on why I consider Jimmy Page more of a GOD, then Eric Clapton, I would be happy to provide it.

  22. I read somewhere years ago that Jimmy had studied all forms of religion and that if he had not become a guitarist could actually be a theologian. One thing I am certain Jimmy didn't follow Crowley in was - Crowley was a bisexual.

Another thing alot of people think because he was a collector etc of Crowley that he must be a Satanist- Crowley even admitted he was not a Satanist and Jimmy isn't one either. I am a Christian myself and I don't think Jimmy would be wearing a cross if he was a Satanist.

Pic taken during Led Zeppelin's last European tour in 1980

    eoro1980.jpg

I am not saying that Jimmy Page is a Satanist or not (I could care less either way), but just because someone wears a Cross does not make them part of any religion. Some people wear Crosses for different reasons including fashion statements.

Have you ever seen the movie, Angelheart, with Robert DeNiro and Mickey Rourke? DeNiro plays Louis Cyphre (Lucifer) and he meets Rourke in a Church. DeNiro even tells Rourke not to curse because they are in a Church. Louis Cyphre respects the Church. I know it is only a movie, however, that scene says alot to me about the ways between Good and Evil.
