Hello!

Thanks for this forum and the good answers I have gotten to other questions. I got a hold of a copy of Led Zeppelin I that was labeled as Led Zeppelin, I. 200 Gram 45rpm Vinyl LP Set Clarity Vinyl.

What kind of pressing is this? Is this pressing something that is an Zeppelin original?

I also got a box of these LP's but am wondering if this is something that has the Zeppelin quality mark on it?

Could you please help me?

Thanks Mathias

The record is part of this set:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Led-Zeppelin-Volume-One-I-II-III-IV-RARE-CLASSIC-AUDIOPHILE-SEALED-BOX-SET-/400662640597

As you may see, the complete sets are legitimate and quite expensive.

Sometimes single (overstock)copies get sold.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sealed-Led-Zeppelin-IV-Clarity-200-Gram-45-RPM-Quiex-SV-P-II-Vinyl-Singe-Side-A1-/301095196118

Still very rare items with excellent sound quality, although a full set is much more desireable.

Hope this answer was sufficient.

The set you're linking to in that first link is a 33rpm set of the first four Classic Records releases and it's crazy how rare it is given you can find SS copies of each of the first four Classic Records releases for $250.

The record the OP has is 45rpm and in a single edition like he has is much more rare. it's the same release that's included in the super expensive 45rpm "trunk" that Clarity issued that contains all the albums on single-sided 45rpm "Clarity vinyl" records. Classic Records had released the trunk and were going to release single Clarity box sets of each title but Atlantic never gave them the license, the few that were pressed have found their way into the market. I think only I and IV are out, although I've seen a test pressing edition of II listed also.

It's a shame these single sets never came out, the 200g Classic regular pressings of Zeppelin are amazing. I only have III but I've never heard it sound this good, can only imagine how good the 45rpm Clarity set would have been. I have "So" by Peter Gabriel in both Classic 200g 33rpm and Clarity 200g 45rpm versions and the latter does improve!

The original Classic Clarity trunk boxset goes for between $3,000 to $4,000 in new condition, it was originally MSRP $700 when it came out I believe.

It looks like this:

The Music (Classic Records store) sold a test pressing of the box set this year for over $10,000 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Led-Zeppelin-45-RPM-Test-Pressing-Road-Case-/151186557869?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item23336bcbad

Only 5 ever made!!

Only 5 of the test pressings but according to my source at Classic Records, 200 Led Zeppelin "Road Case" Trunks were made. These have 48 12" 45rpm one-sided 200g super vinyl discs...8 discs each for the double albums(Physical Graffiti and TSRTS) and 4 per single album. The sound is the best you will ever hear Led Zeppelin.

Don't let this out of your sight! You've got a keeper here...treat it like it was gold. How on earth did you score one of these? Was it an eBay bid? You didn't just find one in a record store, did you? Lucky sod. ;)

Grats Mathias,

I just got one of these sealed in the mail yesterday from a good friend in California.

My friend that i have known for years knows one of the persons who used to work for Classic Records and he got this box from him.

This person from the old Classic Records told my friend that "not many were made" and that this is a "Unreleased item that only a few people received like employee's and a few journalist".
