The Vocal eras of Robert Plant

How much do you all think his voice changed over the years and which vocal era did you like the best?

I like all of the ears. I would say that LZ1 and LZ2 are in the same era. Then LZ3/ZoSo/HOTH he seemed to have this creamy edge to his voice. PG/P his voice combined a throaty buzz to his voice. ITTOD he sound like modern day Plant. A pop singers voice.

Honestly I don't think Robert has range in the way an opera singer does, RP is RP. It's not a bad thing but he really doesn't have range, he's not a multi octave vocalist. His forte' is feel and that is the strength of LZ, all included. They excel in the same way that a guy like Muddy Waters does, it makes you stand in awe as you shake your ass but it ain't operatic or proper.

That said as much as he wailed in his youth his best years to my ears were 78-84ish, he learned control and it helped. Much of the early stuff is screamed and that isn't range, it's the opposite of control. He knows that now. He's singing better than ever presently.
