Mam would just criticise any act on the TV. TOTP was a revelation on music to me but boy the amount of times I got smacked around the ears and the times she threatened to throw my vinyl out still brings shivers to my spine. While other kids got some great Lp's for Christmas I got Vera Lynn at 8 years old. Things improved but there was never that link to understanding my love for music.
