  1. I finally got my Christmas tree and house decorated for Christmas yesterday. Also finished all of my shopping.

Celebrated my oldest son's 23rd birthday on Thursday. I can't believe that he is that old!

Now I need to wrap gifts and deep clean my house and I am ready! Let the festivities begin!

  2. Thanks for that great review, Deborah! What a great experience!

How awesome that Jason said hello to you!

I would have been thinking of Charles, too, in the more quiet moments before the concert started. He is part of my Led Zeppelin Experience due to this forum, and I will always think of him when I hear Led Zeppelin music.

  3. Hi k5ymo!

Glad that you liked the show!

I have seen them twice since last September, my oldest son has seen them 4 times since 2008, including their induction into The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. They are one of my favorites! I do think that they keep getting better with time!

They are at the end of their Death Magnetic tour. The final shows are in New Zealand, Austrailia, and Japan. This tour has been ongoing since the fall of 2008. They have had a great run! They must be making billions, LOL. But they are a hard working band and very dedicated to their fans. They want everyone to be able to have the opportunity to see them on this tour, that is why it has lasted for two years. My son feels like it may be a long while before they are out touring again. You never know. That's why he saw them so many times, he feels that he may not get the opportunity again.

  4. Incredible opening night for the JBLZE! Jason is extremely pleased with the gig last night and it will only get better as the tour progresses.

I've posted the setlist on Jason's site:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The opening night of the Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience tour was a fantastic show! Jason would like to thank the fans for the well wishes and support.

Setlist of the first show included: Immigrant Song, Celebration Day, I Can't Quit You Baby,Your Time is Gonna Come, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Dazed and Confused, Lemon Song, Thank You, Moby Dick, [intermission] Act 2: Friends, Since I've Been Loving You, Black Dog, The Ocean , The Song Remains the Same, I'm Gonna Crawl, Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir. oh, Levee too

Awesome set list. All of my favorite LZ songs!

  5. My sons' former high school's football team won last night 67 - 0! They are undefeated this season and ranked number one in their division for the state play-offs.

Ohio State won today big time. The team is looking very good this year, maybe they will be ranked number one in the BCS after this weekend. They currently are number two.

I got a new cell phone today, a Samsung Captivate. I went to the ATT store to buy an I Phone, but I like this phone much better. It has the same capabilities without the ties/limits to Apple. It is an Android type phone, very fast, lots of free apps. Got a free Ohio State wallpaper for my background. Very nice! Now if I can learn to use all of the features. My old phone was a Motorola Razor that I have had for years, still works, but I realized when I was on vacation that I needed a phone with internet capabilities for maps and weather and for googling useful info.

JBLZE seems to be awesome at first listen!

  6. What about Merrillville, IN on Oct 21 (I think?). That should be about 6 hours away from you. Of course, it's not New York...

Thanks Janet! I will check into it.

There has been a tradition of arson in the past but they normally target vacant residential buildings and small businesses. This concert is being held at the Fox Theater, a beautifully-restored venue in the heart of a downtown entertainment district located about 100 yards from the freeways (escape routes). No worries whatsoever. Go to the concert if you can.

    Thanks, Steve!

I have relatives that live in West Bloomfield, north of Detroit. My niece plays in the Detroit Civic Symphony and I attended one of her concerts at the downtown Orchestra Hall and then her high school graduation at the Detroit Opera House in June. Each conrner, parking garage, and parking lot around the venues were heavily guarded by police to protect the patrons from the dozens of people pan handling in the area. It was a bit scary around there after dark. Detroit would be about four hours by car from me and I could visit my brother and sister in law, too. Still, I am a little concerned that the concert is on Devil's night.

  7. Wow! That guy really sounds like Robert!

I think that this is the closest we will ever get to hearing Led Zeppelin live again.

Just close your eyes and visualize "The Song Remains The Same" images, and you will be magically taken back to a Led Zeppelin concert again!

Congratulations and Thank You to Jason for putting together a high quality band and show!

  8. First concert tonight at Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada!

Should have some videos up on Youtube by tomorrow?

Alas, the tour is not coming close to me. If I want to see it, I will need to go to NYC's Nokia Theater on November 8th. Haven't decided yet.

Edited to say: Looks like Ticketmaster has the venue in NYC as Best Buy Theater.

New name for the Nokia or is it a different venue?

I also see that they will be in Detroit on October 30th. I don't think I want to be anywhere near Detroit around Halloween. Isn't there a tradition of violence and arson in Detroit on Devil's Night, which is October 30?

    Hi Jahfin,

How did you like this movie? I read the book "The Accidental Billionaires: the Founding of Facebook" and found it to be an intriguing story about how Mark Zuckerberg really stole the idea for Facebook from fellow Harvard classmates, the twins, and then used his friend's money to get the project started and then cheated him out of any profits from the endeavour. He was portrayed in the book as a cold, almost autistic, socially inept character who was uncaring and ruthless with his interactions with people and who's only interest was in sitting at a computer writing computer code to prove that he was "smarter" than anyone else. I guess that he was/is unable to socially interact in person but he was only able to connect with people over his computer.

Facebook may put an end to face to face human interactions in the not too distant future? I witnessed two employess at my office talking to each other on Facebook while sitting right next to each other. That's another story. They shouldn't have been on Facebook while at work in the first place. That's a tricky situation that I am going to have to deal with soon.

  10. I just got back from a two week cruise vacation to New England and Canada where I had the rare opportunity to read two books: "Eat, Pray, Love" and "The Accidental Billionaires : The Founding of Facebook". Now I need to see the movies made from these books. I really enjoyed the books, and am guessing that the movies will not be quite as good. Has anyone seen the movies?

  11. Yeah, it's the Time Machine Tour.

I'll see it in Alpharetta, GA (above Atlanta) September 29.

We got seats dead center about 8 or 9 rows back.

    I took off work the 29th & 30th.

    I anticipate an epic show.

We saw both legs of the Snakes and Arrows Tour, and suffice it to say, Rush gives you your money's worth.

    28 songs with an intermission.

    Oh yeah.

It was a great show, TypeO. I hope you have a great time!

Don't miss the beginning of the concert. There is a funny intro that I loved. And alot of humor throughout the concert.

The music was fantastic. Rush is a very underated band. They are awesome in concert.

  12. I'm very happy the weekend has finally arrived, after a super busy week last week! :)

Also really psyched about the race I'm doing with my daughters next Saturday; we've been training since June, and this morning was our last group training run! :):running:

Good Luck to you and the girls, Virginia!

Let us know how it goes.

  13. Going to see Rush tomorrow night at Columbus' Nationwide Arena.

I am more than ready for this concert! I have been listening to Rush non-stop for the last two weeks!

I hear that they are playing the entire "Moving Pictures" album, one of my favorites from them.

I wonder if they will have any dryers on stage?

I don't want to read any reviews of this tour as I want to be surprised by the concert and experience it without any expectations.

I love Geddy's voice, and it will be interesting to see how it has held out after all of these years.

  14. I just had the chance to see them perform at Pukkelpop in Belgium a few days ago, and it was a really great show.

Dickinson is an awesome singer, and despite his age of 52 still extremely athletic and strong voiced.

My sons went to an Iron Maiden concert in July.

They said it was a great show as well as great music.

They also were impressed with Bruce's vocals.

They rank him in their top five best rock singers.

They report that the newest Maiden album is fantastic. I haven't heard it yet as I am not such a big fan.

Just a note: Bruce made a comment about piloting his plane to this concert in Ohio (Blossom Music Center near Akron). He said that he can always tell when he is getting close to this airport when he sees the woods and farm scenery that he loves. They played there at Blossom last summer, too, so he is familiar with that airport.

  15. My sons' former high school football team really whipped their opponent last night at the season's opener.

The other team was three times bigger in size and numbers (our team only had 34 players), but our little guys were much better coached, as usual.

This first game has always been a big rivalry. Our team lost to them last year for the first time since 2004. Last year was the first year since 2004 that our team did not make the state playoffs. Their record was 6 and 4 last year..

It looks like the team is roaring back this year and hopefully will go to the playoffs again.

Just a note: I am amazed that no one has posted in this thread since August 02!

Hopefully, people will be more positive and post more happy thoughts now that alot of the trolls are now banned.

But it will only be a matter of time before they are back again. Enjoy the peace while you can!

Edited to say: Congrats on the A+ Kiwi!

  16. My daughter was married on Saturday. The wedding went without a glitch.

After the dress fiasco, it was a great relief. She had custom ordered a dress from China. It arrived with the waist and top measurements reversed. The alteration attempts caused the satin to ravel. Nothing like a wedding dress problem to cause distress. Oh, well, the replacement dress was many times more beautiful. We were fortunate to find a sale price that blew our minds.

This past week was so much fun, rehearsal dinner, the wedding, the reception and then the dance afterward. B)

    Congratulations on your daughter's wedding!

I am glad that it went well and was fun for you.

Best wishes to the couple for a long and happy life together!

  17. If not, they ARE coming to Tulsa and this Buckeye has a scarlet and grey guest bedroom!

    Hello 01091944 (Jimmy's Birthday)!

Thanks for the invite, fellow Buckeye!

I have never been to Oklahoma before. I have a few Optometrist friends who live there who I could hang out with, but I don't think that I will be able to visit Oklahoma anytime soon.

I may be able to manage to get to the New York City concert. I will just have to wait and see what my schedule is in November to see if I can make it happen.

  18. No concert dates for Columbus or Cincinnati or Cleveland? :(

None of the venues that he is playing at are near me.

There seems to be about a week that is unscheduled in Jason's tour after New York City. Perfect opportunity to add a concert date in Ohio!

  19. Hello Buckeye!!!

Many many thanks for posting this. since you let me know about this I also went on Ticketmaster and I got 21st row!!!

I tried to get some when they first went onsale but only the top of the house(literally) were available. I'm shooting for Nassau since that's where the original show was played. The question is: which one will gilmour play??

As for these tix available, I think you're right. They were part of a package that didn't sell in time so they released them as seats only. Again. Thank you bigtime!

    Hi bigzepfan!

That's great news! I am glad that you were able to get good seats, too! Glad that my post was helpful to you! That's what is so great about this forum: friends exchanging useful information with each other!

I bet there is very little chance that David Gilmour will appear at the Columbus show. New York would be more likely, but who knows if he even will take the stage again with Roger. I doubt it.

Eric Clapton has been known to guest appear at concerts in Columbus before.

He does have a residence here, so I guess that he does get out and about and attend events when he is in town. He's been doing alot of touring the past few years and there hasn't been many Eric sightings around here lately.

  20. I am seeing Rush on Sunday August 29th at Columbus' Nationwide Arena. Can't wait!

Also recently got tickets for Roger Waters' The Wall for Friday October 22 at Columbus' Schottenstein Value City Arena.

The affordable tickets for The Wall concert had been unavailable for a long time, and they only were selling package tickets at $499 or $699 each! These tickets must not be selling well so they put some of these seats for sale at more reasonable prices. I just happened to check on Ticketmaster one day a couple of weeks ago when they were available. I got very good seats! It is amazing to me that they save back some good seats and then sell them as the time gets closer to the concert. You would think that if you bought your tickets the day they went on sale then you would be able to get some of the best seats in the house. I am finding out that is not always the case, as I got excellent seats at the last minute for Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and the Ringo All Stars this summer. My son bought the Rush tickets as soon as they went on sale, and the seats are just so-so. Go figure!

  21. I recently saw "Inception" with my sons. I thought that it was a really good movie. The plot was complex and I found it to be rather intriguing. The acting and directing were well done. I really like Christopher Nolan's films. He likes to use alot of the same actors: Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy, and Ken Watanabe are a few of Nolan's favorites who were in this movie.

If anyone has the chance to see the movie, pay particular attention to the Leonardo DiCaprio character's wedding ring. It seems to have some un-named significance to the plot. And I really liked the ending.

Has anyone else seen this movie yet? And what did you think of it?

  22. Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum, now known as US Bank Arena.

Zeppelin played there on April 19th and 20th, 1977.

Melee at Led Zeppelin Concert April 19, 1977

News Report: Zeppelin Melee CINCINNATI (UPI) — Police reported today about 70 persons were arrested Tuesday night m a melee caused by would-be gate-crashers at a Led Zeppelin rock concert. Several windows were broken and several doors smashed at Riverfront Coliseum, where several hundred persons without tickets milled about, hoping to get into the already sold-out concert. Several persons were hit by rocks and bottles, but no serious injuries were reported.

Inside the coliseum, the concert went on as scheduled. (The Journal, April 1977)

  23. Hi lzzoso smile.gif

I am seeing Rush on August 29th at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus.

I have passed on alot of concerts this summer that are outside. I am glad that this one for me is indoors.

Your concert is in September, and the weather may be very nice then in the early fall for your outdoor concert. I hope that you have a great time!

  24. Every Memorial Day weekend, Columbus' classic rock radio station, QFM 96, has its annual "Memorial Day 500 Countdown" of the most voted upon top 500 rock songs of all time.

Stairway to Heaven was voted number one again!

    Free Bird was number two.

Kashmir was number 7, Black Dog was 20, WWL was 27, Rock and Roll was 33, Ramble On was 41, OTHAFA was 45, Ocean was 54, Heartbreaker/LLM was 70, Good Times, Bad Times was 113, and I am too tired to look up the rest, LOL.

Here is the link to the top 500 for 2010.

Edited to say: Fool in the Rain was 134! I can't say that I agree with that!
