  1. Very strange Sam but nothing shows up except the word posted image - don't know if it's just me or not!

    Same here, no photo.

Edited to say: There is a jpg photo in the "JP - Mojo Upcoming Cover Story" thread. It looks great! Can't wait to read it!

    Thanks Sam! smile.gif

Looks like the problem is fixed! Thanks, again!

  2. Hey DOC,

I saw him at the House of Blues in 94 with 500 other privileged folks, it was an all acoustic set from when he released his blues album and that was all he played.

Wow, I bet that was a great concert!

    Eric Clapton, unplugged!

  3. Yeah Baby!biggrin.gifbanana.gif peanutbutter jelly time!

    Hi Charles,

I got a similar e-mail on December 18th about the Eric Clapton/Jeff Beck concert at MSG on February 19th, 2010. smile.gif

I have not received my tickets yet. Hope that they don't get lost in the holiday mail.

You will love seing Eric. He was in top form this summer with Steve Winwood. It was the best concert that I have ever attended. I am so happy that you are going! Have a great time!

  4. Winter Solstice 2009

I am bumping this thread for the 2009 Winter Solstice. smile.gif

It seems like the sun did not cooperate at Newgrange, Ireland, again this year. sad.gif

    http://www.newgrange...solstice_09.htm

A little late, but Happy Winter Solstice to all!

Days will begin to lengthen now, something to look forward to!

And the winter solstice at Stonehenge, England.

  5. Today we decorated the house and tree for Christmas, and it is a relief to have that chore over with.

I have alot of my Christmas shopping done. Only a few more gifts to purchase. I will probably order them on-line, so I need to do it soon. Now, just the wrapping to do, and then I will be ready to sit back and enjoy the season.

  6. My next show will most likely be Megadeth in February.

My sons saw Megadeth last week at the LC Pavillion in Columbus. They said it was a great show. The youngest one, who went with me to see Them Crooked Vultures at the same venue, said that he thought that TCV was the better show. The older one saw Megadeth a couple years ago, and said that he preferred the earlier show to the current one. They both agreed that overall, they really enjoyed last week's show, and Dave Mustaine is in top form.

    Have a good time, Roxie!

  7. Beginning to feel human again after being home sick yesterday.

    Hi Virginia,

Glad that you are feeling better. smile.gif

I know what it's like. I was ill last weekend and missed work on Monday. I had a migraine and a severe cold and stomach flu, all at once. I didn't even get dressed for three days. It took until yesterday for me to feel back to normal.

  8. Hi Doc, thanks i'm fine, and you?

Shame you didnt get to see the play, but being Jet lagged is a poor excuse. laugh.gif

I feel mighty rearanged with all these learned Shakespeare enthusiasts, as for his real persona, i have read that he was actually Edward DeVere Earl of Oxford, and his family lived in Castle Hedingham Essex, i have visited that site and i really fell in love with it, the parties you could have in that castle would be unbelievable

    Kind Regards, Danny

    I am doing great tonight.

There has always been the debate about who William Shakespeare really was and if he was the author of the plays, or was it someone else, such as Ben Jonson.

    http://www.luminariu...nson/benbio.htm

I visited a castle in Ireland last year, between Galway and The Burren, that looked alot like your party castle, lol. It was Dunguaire Castle. Here is a picture of it:

  9. Hi Patrycja,

You are correct, i have no love of the Tudors, but i do i have a deep fondness for the Middle Ages, but the Renaissance that came about with Henry VIII leaves me cold, the chivlary has gone to be replaced with what? Culture!!! Where my interests stop i know yours begin.

I have been witness to the rebuilding of the Globe Theatre on Londons Southbank but alas i have never been inside, i am rather an uncultured oaf when i comes to Shakespeare, more's the pity, but you have me right again when ask if i watch the videos, which i do and i love them all, even if i dont understand them as much as i should.

And yes again i must agree with you again, there is more to tie us together than to break us apart. I was brought up in a family that actually hated being called English, my grandfather was a 3rd generation Irish Catholic, named George and was born on Orangemans day, he was not too pleased with that, but English i am, not too proud though but i will always support my country unless she deserves not to be.

I have only good things to say about Canada, excepting the Seal hunt.

    Kind Regards, Danny "Dziękuję"

PS, you have a PM from me unanswered, no big deal but if you have forgotten about it i can resend it?

    Hey BIGDAN!

    How are you this evening?

I regret not going to the Globe Theatre when I was in London in August. I wanted to see "As You Like It", my favorite Shakespeare play. But the only opportunity to see that play was on the Friday afternoon that we arrived in England and we were too jet-lagged to rush to see it at 2PM. I did get a glimpse of the Globe from our cruise on the River Thames the following night. And we did not see any plays when we visited Stratford-Upon-Avon, although we did visit "The Bard's" birthplace there.

    Rock on Forever smile.gif

  10. Hope everything turns out well ELsmile.gif

Same here, Eternal Light. I pray for a quick recovery for your father.

And good luck today, Charles. I hope that the hearing is in your (and your son's) favor.

    What made me happy today?

I have the morning off (I have to work until late tonight, though).

And while watching VH1 Classic this morning, some of my favorite tunes have been played:

Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, The Ocean by our guys, I Can't Stand Losing You by the Police, The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.

These put me in a great mood!!!!!

  11. The Amazing Race

    I love that show!

Our family did a day long "Amazing Race" in Victoria, B.C. a couple of years ago. We came in LAST! We were given faulty directions by area residents on two occassions, and were sent in the the totally opposite direction that we needed to go. Some of the detours and road blocks were somewhat difficult, too. I was so tired afterward that I could barely walk. My sons blamed me for losing because I was the slowest one, however, I did manage to complete several of the tasks that they would have had no idea how to do if I wasn't there. I just wasn't as fast as they were. And they would just take off without a clue as to where they were going, causing us to lose time. That made me somewhat perturbed, that they didn't take the time to look at a map before taking off. But we did have fun, and I realize that I could never do some of the things that they do on tv and that the race is not easy at all.

I am watching football: University of Cincinnati vs. West Virginia. The score is currently UC 21 to WV 14.

    Go Bearcats!

If Ohio State had UC's offense and their (Ohio State's) defense, they would be unbeatable.

  12. I made a really yummy apple crisp smile.gif

I bet it was delicious, Virginia!

I have given up on baking. I burn everything! I won't even make Christmas cookies anymore as they are always burnt. I don't have the patience to keep a watch on the oven. My oven must be a little hotter that what the settings read, and if I set the timer for the recommended baking time, then everything is toast. slapface.gif So I just buy my baked goods from a bakery.

  13. Well I attended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame benefit show on Friday night at Madison Square Garden. Great show with some awesome guests. Some highlights were Jeff Beck's instrumental of A Day In The Life, Jeff Beck with Billy Gibbons on Foxey Lady. Aretha Franklin was fantastic and in great form. What a set of pipes she still has. Metallica was quite good with Ozzy doing Paranoid and Iron Man. They brought out Lou Reed for a great version of Sweet Jane and Ray Davies for You Really Got Me and All Day And All Of The Night. U2 was the final band of the night and they were in top form. Bruce and Patti Smith performed Because The Night twice. I think someone missed a cue on the first take. Probably done twice as this is being filmed for an HBO broadcast later this month. Bruce also did Stuck In A Moment with U2. And finally Mick Jagger came out to perform a fantastic version of Gimme Shelter also with Fergie. All in all a great show. The ticket prices were a bit steep, but this was certainly worth it!

    Hi SuperDave,

I am glad that you had the opportunity to see this show! Sounds like it was a great show!

I really wanted to go to this show, but I didn't have an American Express card, and by the time the AXP pre-sale was over, there weren't any reasonably priced tickets to be had, and I couldn't see spending thousands of dollars to see this show, as I had already seen Metallica (twice this year) and Eric Clapton (who was replaced by Jeff Beck).

From your review and others that I have read, it sounds like Jeff Beck's performance was great! I would love to see him and Eric Clapton in London in February. I hope that their show will go on, and that Eric will be up for the task, and then take the show to America next summer!

    Thanks for the review!

  14. Hotplant, your granddaughter is beautiful! I know you are very proud!

Thank you Buck Eye Doc for the references for Bigdan to share with his son!

Great story, Danny, and i know how you feel about drugs, so i'm not worried your son will be just fine. Just this past week i had two patients started on intravenous Ketamine drips. They are postoperative with other pain issues in addition to their surgical pain. The one patient was given a bolus dose first by our Pain Management Nurse, and she had what was described as "an out of body experience" from it. She did not like the effect it had and it was made clear she would not be offered another bolus. She did fine with the drip. But that is some potent stuff. Oh what the hey, here's another reference, Dan: http://www.dancesafe...fo/ketamine.php

Good job Electrophile. It's nice to be given recognition when it's well deserved.

So this didn't make me happy so much as flattered. My daughter's teacher asked me (and only two others out of a class of 18 children) to do a career day presentation next week. I would have liked more time to obtain some nice treats for the class. I found a site that will send me free coloring books, magnets and bookcovers. I'm hoping my sister can get me some goodies from the children's hospital she works at as well. I expect talking to the class should be fun, but would be much easier speaking to teenagers than five years olds smile.gif My daughter is excited about it so at least i can make her feel proud of her mom, lol.

Was so excited to find out yesterday that my daughter's class is having a pajama party on Monday, at school, that my mom and i (she was excited too) went out and bought her brand new, adorable pj's for the occasion. The class is going to go to school in their sleepwear, they are having pancakes, eggs, fries and juice as a special breakfast, and watching a movie that begins with "p". This is for the week of the letter P. For the letter T they had a tea party. For S all the parents had to send in a salad item, and the class made a big salad. Some great ways to learn the alphabet!

My daughter also gets fitted next week for her ballet, tap and hip hop outfits! Recital is the third week of June, 2010! We can't wait to see the outfits that the instructor should have online very soon for us to view.

Four days off started today... always nice!

    Hi Tangerine,

Thank you, you answered my question about ketamine still being used in the US hospitals and not just in veterinary medicine.

My boys, too, had pajama parties in pre-school and kindergarten. They would wear their pj's with feet in them to school, along with robes and slippers. They would have popcorn and watch movies all day. I miss those days when they were little!

And the dance classes and all the outfits get really expensive, don't they? One of my opticians' daughter (who is 6) is in a competitive cheerleading group, and she says that it costs several thousand dollars a year for the classes, outfits, and competition fees. We had a patient in last week who's family is on welfare, but who's daughter is in this cheerleading group. My optician was amazed that the family had the money to spend on this while being on welfare, as it is so costly. Doesn't make any sense to me.

  15. Let's see...yesterday I came home from work to a mysterious odor downstairs. Smells like someone hung a brand new shower curtain liner in the powder room, only it's a powder room, so no shower/tub. Now the whole downstairs smells like vinyl. dry.gif Wonder if it's connected to the fact that the fan briefly wouldn't work the other day? (Hope no hidden fan parts are melting and getting ready to burst into flames..odd thing is that the fan wasn't even on, though)

Then late last night, and again this morning, NO HOT WATER angry.gif Husband thinks maybe the weird smell and lack of hot water are related rolleyes.gif I think we have 2 separate problems (hot water heater blown; and fan motor blown). Had to take a freezing cold shower so that got my morning off to a lovely start..

AND my Hokies lost to UNC last night slapface.gif

Wow, Virginia! You are having a seriously bad day. I hope that it is getting better.

I think I know about that smell that you are experiencing.

At our old house, our electiric panel (fuse box, without fuses, but with circuit breakers) was in a closet that held our hot water heater, located just off our kitchen. When we had a lot of appliances running, such as stove, oven, washer, dryer, we would smell that smell. It turned out that the amps for the circuit breakers for the kitchen appliances were not high enough to carry the electric load that we were using, and the wires to the breakers were heating up, then shutting off the breakers, so then no electricity. We called an electrician, and he changed the circuit breakers to ones that carried higher amperage, and the problem was fixed. I wonder if your powder room is near your electric panel box, and if your hot water heater had its breaker flipped to the off position? Please have an electrician look at it if it continues so that you won't have an electrical fire at your house.

I feel your pain about the Hokies. I am so sorry that they lost. sad.gif

  16. I took my Middle Son to a Hospital Dentist today to have two wisdom teeth removed. We gets there at about 11.30, 15mins early, at 12pm he goes in, i get a call from the nurse at 12,15pm to go to the room, i'm thinking that my son is getting a bit uncontrollable or something like that.

When i get in to the room my son is sitting on a low down hospital trolly with this massive smile on his face and this young nurse is in fits of laughter. I sit down and ask her whats up, she tells me that my son is having her in stitches, i ask what medication she has put him on and she tells me its Ketamine and Dopamine (i think!!) and the procedure has been completed, two wisdom teeth out inside of ten minutes must be some sort of record?

Anyways there my son sitting there in oblivion, he tells me this "i'm gonna give up smoking weed if i can get some of this (Ketamine) is fcking brilliant, i can see why people take it" then he starts singing rap songs, the nurse is in fits again, and she say that everybody reacts differently, only that she has never seen someone react like my son has, she tells me not to worry and just get him home quickly and safely.

Now my sons is a fcuking potential junkie, and i want some of it too. laugh.gif

Very Kind Regards, Danny and ROCK ON FOREVER my friend ROF ROF ROF HA HA HA

    Funny story, Danny smile.gif

When my oldest son was 5, he went to the hospital for a tonsilectomy due to frequent strep throat infections. He didn't say a word to anyone. When they gave him an injection of valium to calm him before taking him back to the OR for the surgery, he became very talkative, making the nurses roll on the floor with laughter. It was so funny.

Seriously, though, you need to down play to him the effects that he experienced, so that he won't be wanting to experience it again, and seek out the drug and become a junkie. That's how some addictions get started. I hope for your and his sake that it doesn't become an obsession with him.

    http://www.rxlist.co...loride-drug.htm

    http://www.drugfree...._guide/ketamine

And to my knowledge, I think that ketamine is only used in veterinary medicine in the US, I think?

Any of the nurses on the forum will know this answer better than me. My husband is working tonight and not home to ask him.

Had to edit to say: ROF

  17. Since Steve's post, I am trying to figure this out....it will take quite some time, but really interesting!

After reading Steve's post the other day, I have been working on a sigil to put a curse on the ZeppFanForever bashers, LOL. laugh.gif

But seriously, I have been thinking about a sigil for some other things that could be helpful to me.

It definitely will take some time to figure out. Just for fun.

I truly don't believe in magic, but I do believe that what you allow in your thoughts will influence your behavior. So if you think negatively, then negative things will happen to you through your negative behavior. If you think positively, then your actions will be postitive and you will have more positive outcomes. This is due to your own actions, not due to some hocus pocus.

But by concentrating your thoughts, and putting them into your subconcious with the sigil, you are focusing on your desired outcome, and your actions and efforts then will be directed at making your desire happen. Nothing magical about that. Just good ole psychology.

  18. Now I am watching Washington The Warrior on The History Channel.

I love Early American History and have a bit of expertise on George Washington. I have an extensive book collection on these subjects, and am always looking for more information on my favorite historical figure. (My second favorite is Abraham Lincoln, whom I have read alot about and have a wealth of info on, too.)

  19. My fleet manager accused me of abusing sick leaveohmy.gif WTF? I knew he was an asshole but this was sinking to the lowestblink.gif

    That's just ridiculous!

Tell him that you would gladly trade places with him and let him see what it's like, what you have been going through, the A-hole!angry.gif

  20. I saw that quite a while ago. I liked it and I thought it was interesting. Unfortunately no Jimmy interview. sad.gif However, the American Masters show about Atlantic Records has interviews with both Jimmy and Robert. smile.gif

Thanks for the tip, 'a clockwork tangerine'. smile.gif

I will have to watch for a replay of it, or maybe just buy it off of PBS. I would bet that it would be a video worth having in one's collection.

By the way, they did play a snippet of Communication Breakdown in the Les Paul piece. biggrin.gif
