  1. the rain song.....definitely my all time favorite vocal from robert.

i think i heard robert say in a radio interview once that he felt his best vocal performance was the rain song, as well.

I will agree with you Misty. One of my favorites. I love this song.

At this very moment, The Rain Song is playing on VH1 Classic as they are airing The Song Remains The Same.

  2. Today is Dia dos Namorados here in Brazil (it's our equivalent to Valentine's Day) and I got some beaaaaauuuuutiful orchids from my husband. :D

Isn't that sweet? After 28 years together I still get flowers. ^_^

    Congratulations, brspled!

It will be 30 years for me and my husband in September!

  3. On Friday, we moved the youngest son home from the dorm at Ohio State.

The oldest one is moving home today!

    :cheer:

Our family went to dinner at a pub on High St. in Columbus called Mac's.

In walked a guy wearing a Led Zeppelin Swan Song Insignia t-shirt! He walked over to the juke box and played Whole Lotta Love!

    I was in heaven! :D

And the food was great, too.

  4. Lucky guess! :) Maybe they could schedule you on an alt. date?

Well, I am booked on another tour of England and Scottland. It doesn't use the best hotels, but it fits my travel dates and is the only one that hasn't been cancelled or filled by now. It visits the same cities as the original tour but doesn't give us as much free time. Oh well, we will just have to go back again later, lol. :)

Thanks for all your help and suggestions, Virginia! :thanku:

  5. Outstanding! Folks remember to get that scope, the alterative treatments are not as pleasant.

    Trust me :o;)

As for me the most unlikely source of what made my day was the soon to be ex told me she doesn't like my attorney  Hello! were getting a divorce! you're not supposed to like my lawyer Duh!

:hysterical: That made my day! :D

    Hi Charles,

Good to see you here on the forum tonight!

  6. Maybe it's just me getting older, but most of Classic Rock station playlists have become really stale - only a shallow representation of a given artist's catalogue, usually their most well-known hits, is ever selected. For example:

Zeppelin: Whole Lotta Love, Ramble On, Levee, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, a few others

Pink Floyd: Time, Money, Comfortably Numb

Beatles: A Day in the Life, Let It Be, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Come Together

Stones: Gimme Shelter, Sympathy For the Devil, Jumpin' Jack Flash

Who: Won't Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes

Eagles: Hotel California, Life In the Fast Lane

AC/DC: You Shook Me All Night Long, Highway to Hell

Hendrix: All Along the Watchtower, Purple Haze

Sabbath: Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs

Deep Purple: Smoke on the Water, Highway Star

    T. Rex: Get It On (Bang a Gong)

Skynyrd: Sweet Home Alabama, Free Bird

Etc... I suppose it depends on the station, and not that these aren't all great songs, but when I am elected Emperor of the Universe these cuts will be forbidden on Classic Rock radio, to be replaced by:

Zeppelin: Tea For One, The Rover, Bron-y-Aur, Trampled Underfoot

Floyd: The Nile Song, Goodbye Blue Sky

Beatles: Flying, Mother Nature's Son, Rain, Tomorrow Never Knows

Stones: Little T&A, Dancing With Mr. D, Hot Stuff, All About You, Sweet Black Angel, Dandelion, Salt of the Earth

Who: Pictures of Lily, Magic Bus

    Eagles: Lyin' Eyes

AC/DC: Soul Stripper, Live Wire, Little Lover, You Ain't Got a Hold On Me, Bad Boy Boogie

Hendrix: Angel, Drifting, Little Wing, Little Miss Lover

Sabbath: Warning, Children of the Grave, Snowblind, Laguna Sunrise, Dirty Women, It's Alright

    Deep Purple: Lazy

    T. Rex: Jeepster, Telegram Sam, Raw Ramp, Metal Guru, The Soul of My Suit

Skynyrd: The Needle and the Spoon, Swamp Music

A man can dream, can't he?

    ThewaythatyoupushpushpushpushyouknowIcouldn'ttaketoomuchofthat....

Sirius satellite radio does have a channel called "Deep Tracks", channel 16, that does play alot of the songs on your list.

    Deep Tracks

Loved your book, by the way. :)

  7. Well, hotels in the capital will be more expensive than elsewhere - but that's a given.

Marriott's a good place to go to. Depending on where you'd like to be, most places in Central London will be of good quality, though relatively expensive.

Here's an Expedia link that'll hopefully help you. On a personal level, I've never spent the night in London since it's only a few hours drive away. I wish I could help you more with that one.

    Expedia

If you chose the London option, along with your preferred hotel class, you should get some decent hits.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

I think the difficult part is not knowing what is a good area of town to stay at if you have never been to the city before.

  8. Buck, that's a pain in the arse having to re-do your plans.

On the plus side, nine's right - there's plenty to do without the aid of a car.

This little bugger may be able to help you out

    Linkage

Already, I've just checked that if you went from London to Aberystwyth (Wales) in August by National Express coach, you're looking at an £8 return price. Of course, that's just an example, but it's not a bad price.

    Thanks for the link, longdistancewinner,

What is a good 4 to 5 star hotel to stay at in London?

I already have a reservation at the Marriott Marble Arch for the 15th of August. Not a bad rate for it. I thought it was OK for one night, but maybe I want a different location if we are staying all 10 days in London?

What would you suggest? There are some decent deals out there for hotels that are usually more expensive. I think that there is a good rate (relatively speaking) for the Mayfair.

  9. Absolutely! I'm not a fan of tours personally. I bet if you do some research ahead of time and planning, you'll be able to do these things without it costing too much more. It's nice to have the choice to see things you want to see. And a day trip to Paris sounds tres bien :D

    Certain moi :)

    Certainement!

  10. How frustrating! I know it's really almost impossible for you to get a refund on the plane tickets. It seems all flights are nonrefundable short of an emergency. I think you will be okay doing day trips and such in England without driving and you can probably arrange for day tours once you're there.

Hope it will work out for you!

    Thanks, ninelives.

It may be better without the organized tour as we could take a day trip to Paris on the Eurostar.

And we could do more things that we want to do on our own, such as see As You Like It at the Globe Theatre. There would be more time for London, also, and we could take a train to Edinburgh to see the Military Tatoo.

So it won't be so bad if we don't find a tour, just probably will be more expensive.

  11. My tour of England and Scottland for August got cancelled by the tour company (Insight) because they didn't have enough reservations to make it worthwhile financially for them to go ahead with it. Blame it on the economy. But they happily took our money for our reservation. No problem getting our money back for the tour (not the airfare), but I took a month researching all the tours that were offered and this one was the best. :(

My travel agent is having a difficult time finding another tour for the dates that we need. Alot of them have been withdrawn due to poor bookings.

We have purchased airline tickets already. Our son, who will be spending 6 weeks at the University of Greenwich, is coming home on August 16 with us. So we are stuck with these dates.

Worse case senario, we will just take day trips out of London. We don't want to drive ourselves in England due to the driving on the other side of the road issues, lol.

  12. Lots to be happy about today!

Went to my nephew's graduation party. I got to see lot's of relatives that I haven't seen in a while.

The weather has been gorgeous lately. Perfect for an outdoor party today.

Lots of birthday wishes, on the forum (thank you everyone) and at the party as well as several phone calls, text messages and e-mails. I think this is the most best wishes that I have ever had!

Tiger won the Memorial golf tournament, which is near where I live. My brother came up from Kentucky to attend the tournament this weekend. They had perfect weather this year; it usually rains.

Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood Live From Madison Square Garden on PBS tonight. I recorded it on TiVo. Getting me pumped up for their concert on June 15 that I am attending with my husband and sons in Columbus at the Schottenstein Center.

Got a phone call from a boy (now a man, lol) that I used to babysit for 30 years ago, just to wish me Happy Birthday. He periodically calls me up out of the blue. He lives in San Diego.

Boys have final exams this week and will be coming home from college for the summer at the end of the week.

  13. Yes Stevie, Christine...fantastic idea

...The video is just fantastic...so beautiful...How I wish "HE" was there too...

    Thanks for the link!

I have this show TiVo'd and I cannot just play that song once. I have to play it ten times, I love it so much.

I am going to see Eric Clapton with Steve Winwood on June 15th at the Shottenstein Arena in Columbus with my entire family. Seeing this video just got me excited about it.

  14. I can understand, but then, it may also be theraputic in some ways, too. The only other pet i had that died was my grey cheeked parakeet (who led an awesome life!). Jasmine died at 17 years of age in my dad's hand (one of his/her favorite spots to take a nap, lol). Jasmine loved rock music and Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" was always his favorite song. I always think of Jasmine when i hear it. Nelly Furtado's "I'm Like a Bird" is a real sad one, though i don't listen to that kind of music really, Jasmine was still living when that song came out and so i loved it! Now if i hear it (doesn't happen often) makes me cry.

Lets hope Sugar lives a very long life!

    Thank you.

She is almost 9 years old.

She was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. She lost some of her hair and was very lethargic and gained some weight. I thought the lethargy was because she was sad that the boys were gone to college and that she missed them, as it started back in September when they went away. So I didn't take her to the vet until she developed bald patches on her coat in February. I felt stupid for not recognizing it sooner, with me being a medical professional, I should have picked up on it earlier. But she is now on thyroid medication and her hair is growing back and she has more energy.

That is so cute, a bird that likes rock music. I used to be a huge Eagles and Don Henley fan, they were my favorite, and I still like them, but Led Zeppelin has taken their place at the top for me.

  15. ...Welcome, there is always room for Pagettes. I love the Firm too. I don't mind Paul Rodgers, however, Freddie Mercury remains my fav.

I wish for the millionth time that Beloved Mr. Page would collaborate again, how about another idea? :D with Robert and Carlos Santana and any Female Artist of their choice... :D

    How about Stevie Nicks?

    Christine McVie could play keyboards.

And of course we need Jonesy on bass.

    And Jason on drums.

I love Carlos, too. It would be fantastic to see him jam with Jimmy.

Did you see Carlos jamming with Eric Clapton during one of Eric's Crossroads concerts? It was fantastic. They played Jingo.

And people, we are not being serious about this, by the way. :D

  16. Thank you for your warm thoughts, BUCK EYE DOC! My cat had liver failure, the vet says from aging. She was fifteen years and three months. It hit her fast. She ate breakfast today so i thought that was a good sign, but her lethargy increased and by the afternoon she would barely move. I miss her so much right now. She was my first cat. I have another one that's fourteen and i hope this doesn't affect her too much.

I have always considered pets part of the family and i know she lived a happy and comfortable life. I am sure i will have tears for a while though.

I am sorry about your dog. What a sad story. Pets are loved and they leave an imprint on our hearts.

Very odd thing... after i left the vets the first song i heard when i got into the car was "Sheep". My daughter said, "turn that off it's scary". I caught the verse right before the part where they do their twist on Psalm 23. Made me cry listening to it. Seemed so appropriate. Sheep isn't played much on the radio either, so i took it as a sign in a way (and Sheep is one of my all time favorite songs so the meaning was immense for me).

Thanks again for your kind words :)

I know what you mean about the song.

My current dog's name is "Sugar". The song No Sugar Tonight by The Guess Who was on the car radio today and I told my husband that when our dog dies then I wouldn't be able to listen to that song anymore, even though it is one of my favorites from the band.
