Actually, what got me into Zep was The Ocean and the album Houses of the Holy. The First album I got was Led Zep 1 and I thought, wow, this is trash and pretty much only listened to good times bad times and Comm breakdown. But then I got Zep 2 and I loved it, whole Lotta Love was my jam. and then I got Runes and I loved When the Levee Breaks. Now Zep 1 is my 2nd favorite, Zep 2 is one of the worst, Zep 4 is overplayed, and I still don't have Physical Graffiti on CD. I am only 15, tho

Well..... when u do ( re’ Physical Graffiti)

    🤯BRACE YA SELF!!!

Hendrix was better technically than Page. However, does not match Page as a producer, composer and writer along with being fabulous guitar player.

    EXACTLY !

After the 1st sentence  >ya nailed it!

    Technically better ??

The factual inacuracies regarding "All My Love" shocked me.

Theirs alot to read , so i scrolled on down to AML. The writer Certainly has a few major facts wrong.   Which makes me wonder what else he’s got wrong.

Since this is kind of  appears to Try to come off as some type of authoritative breakdown of their entire catalog, He should surely have those important well known facts correct.   I haven’t read too much further than that but  now he loses credibility regarding the whole article.

Its written in a fashion to make himself sound like he’s better than some of the Members of the band.   He sure thinks He’s something.......He does  however acknowledge The greatness of the band Over most any other band. He credits timing and luck also barbaricness, Instead of more from their talents and musicianship.  But that’s what I got Out of it from a quick glance,

    we will see ....

  4. i guess you guys will count this?

Im only speaking of the singing on 3songs , not the whole show etc....

    2007 live @ the 02 during KASHMIR

    &

2007 rehersal recording of FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!

    ONE MORE I FORGOT

1972? Not sure of the year for sure  however,

the live video supposedly doesnt match or is a separate show mashed up to the live performance , anyway Im referring to the great Plant vocal performance of:

Immigrant Song on the Australian  live video footage!

  5. PAGE

before Hendrix because “composing” has to COUNT BIG!

& Blackmore ,Iommi & Alex Lifeson should be on everybodys list.

at liest the top 10 list come on!!!!

    OH !  I FORGOT

i ALSO add this , I really like how “PRINCE !!!” Played!!!!!

    AND

    Bonham first!

but Niel Pert should make the list ! or in my opinion Someone’s just not being honest with themselves!

My mind first jumped to two songs: Bonham going wild on the kick to end Good Time Bad Times, and the swinging roar of the whole band in Out on the Tiles.

As far as songs go that don't fade, maybe Immigrant Song's dead stop after two and half minutes of fury, or the sweet, sweet release of The Ocean. Robert's "so good" to end The Ocean from 7/29/73 at the Garden is unreal.

Out on the tiles !  Man! Very overlooked song!  all the Zep songs they repeat over and over on the radio They should play OOTT more often!

I have come to the conclusion that I have little or no interest in listening to any of Roberts new music. It doesn't do anything for me other than for the fact of who he is, singing the songs. There is not enough energy in his collaborations with Allison or with the SSS, to make me listen to more than a song or two or buy the albums.

I held on for a long time with his ever changing solo career, always defending him to those who expected him to still be the Golden God and play with Led Zeppelin, blah blah blah...

For the last 10 years or so the music has been pretty much the same sounds to my ears. While I appreciate his contributions I find it hard to listen to anything new from him. it just isn't exciting to me

I know a lot of people think  the same thing

HOWEVER  That was BEFORE this happened:

LISTEN to this  brother  we caught his live show with the SSS Somewhere in Indiana I think a year or two ago . Allison was also on the bill but they did not play together, and the final show was Willie Nelson!

I gota  tellya  I don’t think them willy Nelson fans we’re expecting what they experienced . They are  real loyal fans of  Willy  kinda a family And I can tell they were just kinda eh! When Plant came out  it was the loudest roar of the night so far and you  could see eyes rolling etc. while they “sat” there because I don’t think they ever stand up  for Willys laid-back show Ever ! they all sat there quietly listen to the other acts so far

BUT plant was sO charming up there!!!!

And the songs that they didn’t even  know  like the one called ???  Something like?  , yea!   “turn it up”.  If you go listen to that song on the album and then think about how good  it could possibly  sound “live” . With the crowed joining in at the ah aAA ..... lil different But not unlike  plants earlier SOLO song “slow dancer”  yrs ago etc! Next thing you know everybody was standing up and NO 1 sat down for the rest of his performance!

He gained so many new fans that night!!!

I don’t know if he was trying to show off for Allison or just wanted to put the main attraction of the night in their place or what but

He literally stole the show !!!

Everybody was talking about  how amazing they were , I know they didn’t like him before NOW we’re just blowed away!!!

I assure you >>> U would have enjoyed how he presented that music & himself !

you would have been PROUD of him!

(“AAW SO GOOD”!!!!!  RP quote at the end of the song  “the ocean”? )

🤔 Someone should translate the entire Article for us !  I for one would love to read it.  I think it would be very interesting how the BRITs and The locals got along at such a monumental occasion  for In through the outdoor  AND ABBA’s studio!

(for historical purposes only of course)

I really enjoyed watching this tonight. They interview many modern day and legendary drummers and of course there is a special segment on Bonzo. Hearing greats like Chad Smith and Stewart Copeland rave about him is awesome. There are some clips from TSRTS too. Check it out!

Is there a link? I would love to see everyone’s reactions etc.

Mick Bonham was invited on-stage and played congas during 'Whole Lotta Love', when Led Zeppelin performed at the Preston Public Hall on 23 November 1971. As I recall it is Mick Bonham who blew the whistle during 'Fool On The Rain' on the Led Zeppelin album 'In Through The Out Door'. I probably replied to king zoso's original post six years ago but if not I'll offer my opinion that John needed Mick, someone he could trust completely, to look after his home and family while away on tour a lot more than he needed another member of the entourage.

Thanks for repeating your opinion Steve Good thinking !  I bet you’re right > of course that’s where he would need him most  I never thought that. & Bonhams brother probably  was fine with it under the CONDITION:

That John let him know if ever a whistle was to be blown ONCE in “just the rite spot” !

And man did Mick ever NAIL IT!

excitedly blowing a few extra during the following jam 😜!

That is also very well put. ITTOD was and is far superior to what was being put out at the time. There are some brilliant moments on that album which have all been mentioned. There are certain tracks which upon first listen I was not really into. But like a lot of things, as I listened  more, read lyrics, listening  to each instrument I started to appreciate those specific tracks much more. It truly is a shame that was all we got, if anything it showed their diversity, and musical genius that they possessed.

I had ITTOD as my second or third album I purchased and was blown away at the difference between their first album and that album. They were constantly changing, growing, moving. As I got older, purchased all of their catalog, and dove into their live work on bootlegs and the live music they made available, I looked at ITTOD as the album that would have been the music playing at the end of their movie while the credits were being rolled out. Coda would have been in the deleted scenes. And I love that album as well. I also think ITTOD has some of Robert’s best lyrics. It’s a deep album lyrically. Bonham was crushing it, and some his best playing, Jimmy’s solo in I’m going to crawl is possible my favorite ever. It’s also one of my favorite vocal performances by Robert. And Jonesy was just doing what he always did, which was being possibly the best musician in the band. That man is simply amazing at every instrument, and is a brilliant arranger.

The only issue I have with ITTOD, and Carouselambra in particular is the mix. The production on parts of this album is just off, vocals too low in the mix, guitar too low in the mix, but keys are waaaay up there and super-bright. The ITTOD companion disc with the pre-mixed final version of Carouselambra (The Epic) is far, far superior to what was released on the album. The keys are slightly lower, the guitar is considerably more pronounced as is the bass, and you can finally hear & understand most of Robert's amazing vocals. I honestly don't even listen to Carouselambra in it's official released form anymore as I much prefer The Epic. I can only imagine what this tune would have sounded like live on the 80-81' NA tour had Jimmy gotten clean and Bonzo not passed away. I can guarantee the guitar would have been front and center along with Robert's vocals.

Anyway, I love ITTOD and think it an overall brilliant album which just suffers from poor production in certain parts. BTW, those production issues are almost exclusively in ITE & Carouselambra as SBS, FITR, HD, & IGC have excellent production. AML is really interesting as the production is not bad, it just needed more guitar and they should have left in the original Jimmy guitar coda and not cut it off.

After comparing BOTH “In the evenings”

in my opinion the original mix with the harder to hear or Less  understandable lyrics helps elavate that song to somthing far more than just “waiting on a no show “ to >

something POUNDING DOWN from above to us mere mortals!!! like a Kashmir or  maybey more like a

    “futuristic immigrant song” battle cry!

  12. Well what really blew my mind regarding BONZO’s Playing was :

watching him during the rehearsal for the Paris footage, it was part of a movie or something!!

Up untill that youtube video many yrs ago I Always knew he was great but I just didn’t know really ANYTHING  compared  to after that moment!!! Then I really started watching him in all the past videos,  Danish  Good times bad times ,RAH omg! etc.

amazing how intense he was AND it was just a rehearsal!! Lol

I think I also will utilize those very same two notes for  my ringtone!!

    Thanks for the idea

Well there you go, excellent, versatile drummer. But there are still a few who may think you could get a "50%" Bonzo. No,

not even 25%. Michael Lee was damn good, and Jason as well in 07'. It would be as drastic as having the rhythm section

of the Jimi Hendrix Experience getting in some excellent guitarist after Jimi's death. The Experience also had some of

the ESP thing Zep had, although they jammed practically twice as much as Zep live. But Zep, The Experience, after

the "main ingredient(s)" gone, were like a 500 jigsaw puzzle piece picture missing 135 pieces, an impossible fix. Of course

The Band of Gypsys' as well, etc.,.

Michael Lee was something else I Telya just watch him live with page & plant , what a drummer !!!!

Nothing against Jason , And he was great at the O2

but page and plant were both quoted saying “Michael  Lee is the closest they’ve ever heard to Bonzo !!!”

That exactly how I see it. With what the others were able to craft (the usual level of excellence in developing their ideas in the studio), Jimmy contributed his solo which matched what he had to work with. Enhanced it in exactly the way you'd expect. The four of them together - unmatched musical genius.

Thats the BEST Ive ever heard it put!!!

& I like to add that I LOVE in through the outdoor!  It still had the Superior majesticness, magic HAMMER POWER that no band could say their own music was better than!!!

     This album also contains

    “in the evening”

for god sake !!!! Like you said “unmatched musical genius!!!”

ZEP’s ITOD was “still” sO far ahead of whoever was #2!!
