30, too early for this shit, took garden hoses apart, shut spouts off, getting cold tonight

HOLY CRAP!  I had to do that over a month and a half ago!  It's been above freezing since Sunday, but we still have 6 inches of snow on the grass and an inch of ice on the streets!

was booked  10 months ago but trust me were debating if we should stay or go, officially has been downgraded this week but who knows? leaving on 10th so still monitoring, actually calling hotel in a few

If I was you, I'd still go.  The Icelanders are used to these volcanic activities and know how to work around them.  Although the Blue Lagoon is currently closed (it's an over=priced tourist trap anyway - better hot springs elsewhere), the only thing that would prevent you having a GREAT time is if the smoke from an eruption messes with planes landing/taking off from the airport.

  3. I was in Iceland when Fagradalsfjall was erupting!  Long hike from the car park, but spectacular!  They let us walk to within a couple hundred feet and it erupted like clock work every 15 minutes.

  4. Absolute SHIT holiday weekend.  Starting Thursday night we had 42 continuous hours of light snowfall.  Just when it looked like it would stop and you shovel everything clear, it started snowing heavy again.  Temps were 20 degrees daytime highs and single digits at night.  We ended up with ten and half inches at my house!  To make it worse, the City in it's infinite wisdom plowed the streets on Friday night and were too busy worrying about plastic bags from grocery stores or changing pronouns on public signs to plow the streets again on Saturday morning WHEN WE GOT AN ADDITIONAL FIVE AND A HALF INCHES OF SNOW!  Yea, they'll hand out fines to homeowners for not shoveling their sidewalks within 24 hours of a storm, but they can't be bothered with clearing the streets!

thanks, will share  all these nice tips with family, have heard though cash is a no no, that they want credit cards only?

I paid cash for everything.  About the only thing I saw that you HAD to pay with credit card was gas (most gas stations are pay at the pump with no attendant), renting electric bikes or scooters and paying for parking.  Be careful paying with your credit card.  Met a guy from Ohio that brought his family there for vacation.  He took them to a KFC in Reykjavik and didn't pay any attention to the prices on the menu board.  After his family of four was done ordering, the bill was $314.00 US!!!!

  6. I went to Iceland during the Covid years (one of only 3 European countries that allowed American tourists).  I agree with the above that a Southern Golden Circle tour is a must.  If you or your family are Game of Thrones fanes, you can do a GoT tour and visit filming sites there.  Also, don't forget a whale tour (puffins will be gone at that time)!  Finally, bring plenty of cash, EVERYTHING is expensive - especially eating out!  Bonus is the cheapest grocery store - stock up and eat in the room when you can.

Are you talking about the Zepruder film?  And to think one video would change your mind is very confusing to me.  There are so many out there, why would you give this one so much credibility over the others?  Because it says "History Channel"?  Let me tell  you something about the  History channel.  Its not the bible on anything  In the case of DB Cooper they pretty much give Eric Ulis, a guy that has nothing else to do with his life but Cooper, is all over that channel, free reign to put his crap on there.  And most of it is crap.  Its mostly who you know as to what goes on that channel.  They have some good content but are no better than the next guy.  Not sure but I believe "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" is on there?  Its not bad. At least they realize its not cut and dry Oswald crap

Take a chill pill dude!  Listening to interviews of "witnesses" 20 years after the event all trying to get their 15 minutes of fame is not going to prove any of your conspiracy theories.

  8. Winter hits us this weekend.  High Sunday of 29 and Sat/Sunday anywhere from 1-5 inches of snow!  You'd think the weather/climate geniuses that can predict that climate change will warm the planet 2.5 degrees 100 years from now could do a little better on snow totals three days from now.

  9. I've been fascinated with the Kennedy assassination since I was in Jr. High.  Over the years, I accumulated dozens of books on the assassination, Kennedy, Oswald and Ruby.  I never believed the Warren Commission Report.  All that changed when I saw the program on the History Channel titled: "Unsolved History - the Magic Bullet"  After seeing that program, it answered all the questions I had and had me concluding:

    3 shots fired

One gunman from the sixth floor Depository

    No "magic bullet", just physics

    Case closed!
