  1.

The Canadian cable channel MUCH (formally know as MuchMusic... Canada's answer to MTV) will now only air 1 hour of music videos per day.

In response to significant decline in TV interest in music videos,  "Much will now broadcast only a single hour of retro music videos from the '80s, '90s and aughts during the so-called "teen-popular" lunchtime window" and are going to focus more on reality TV, movies, and shows like South Park. I can't say that I am surprised and they have been moving away from music videos for a few years now.... but it just saddens me that my only option for videos is online. I f**cking hate all the ads on Youtube. The ads are getting longer, more frequent.... and some you can't even skip!!! It's so annoying.

I would record videos to my VCR and ended up with hundreds of VHS tapes. VJ's such as Erica Ehm, Rick "The Temp" Campanelli, Dan Gallager, George Stroumboulopoulos, Terry David Mulligan, and Teresa Roncon were when MuchMusic was at it's best. Even Ed The Sock was amusing.

The only thing those playlists do is drive home the point that compilation albums are completely superfluous these days - anyone can make their own and it'll be virtually indistinguishable from an 'official' version.
Except that the compiler won't have left off any of your favourite songs...

Exactly. I like Jack White and Royal Blood..... but I could care less what their favourite Led Zeppelin tracks are. I suspect he's using their friendship to lend popularity to a service geared towards the mass population. It's not for me, but I'm ok with it. I just hope something better comes along for the 50th anniversary. Playlist, sneakers, and snowboards are not for me.

  3. The local classic rock radio station (K-Rock 97.5) plays Led Zeppelin on a regular basis, including Zep songs that aren't normally played often. They also play a lot of other great classic rocks songs and mix it up with some newer classic rock songs.

Unfortunately, like most classic rock radio stations, they tend to play the same songs over and over.
