I hate the way women were treated; although that is something that the entire rock business was guilty of. The underlying air of violence is unsettling as well.
On the opinions regarding Mr Bonham. Many years ago I was in the company of two opera lovers who were arguing about Maria Callis. One stated she was average; the other stated that yes she was a shadow technically of many of her peers but she exuded feeling, passion and charisma all missing from the others.
Mr Bonham had something special. He shifted tone and genres in a single song making it sound natural. (Sorry I have no drumming experience to explain further)
Why did they not give Robert another 6 months to recover before recording Presence. I think his vocals show he is still suffering from the injuries and nowhere near his capabilities.
Also anyone who thinks Ringo cannot drum has never heard Rain.

Thank you that was fascinating.

Can I ask a daft question how easy was it to get hold of bootlegs. Surely Mr Grants controlling personality must have had an effect on their availability.

Happy Birthday Mr Jones.

Great image.

I think it is a great image and very much of his humour.

Wow that sounded wonderful.

Just found these images. Are they of Robert as a child?.
-
Doesn't Robert have a much younger sister called Allison?.
-
Has Mr Page or Mr Jones ever provided vocals for any of their projects before during or after LZ?.
-
Pleased that they are helping you sort the issue out.

Mine arrived today (UK purchase). Slight bump on a corner but nothing major and no fault with printing. Was surprised the poster was folded for some reason and shocked at how heavy it is. As a relative newbie I have not seen the majority of the pictures. A couple of thoughts. How wonderful is great rock photography considering it was a newish medium in the 1960's the artistry is amazing. The picture of Bonzo with the toy drum kit and the washing on the line made me grin like a Cheshire cat, and you can feel the energy from the onstage images. The crowd images are astonishing. Care has been taken in creating this book.

Here is a link to the Rolling Stone V The Verve case (with others mentioned)

Thanks for posting. That necklace seemed to appear in a few photographs. Any more info on the image.

Thank you for that. When I was about 12 we had the inkies (NME, Melody Maker) and the pop magazine Smash Hits. I read all three. Smash Hits was by far the funniest and covered all genres of music but also had the ability to take on a more serious tone. Everything from the rise of the video and the indie labels to the rise of censorship in music. All with great photographs and interviews and all done with a daft grin on its face and not taking itself too seriously. It sounds a lot like cream.

Do you think that the new mode of the industry could still offer hope. Artists release something without warning a couple of days before release. Would Zeppelin follow that trend.

Happy 50th.

Did not know of Jimmy stomach issues or his drug convictions. I am pleased he fought and won the battle with his demons as we lost too many talented musicians to drugs.

Never seen that one before. Thank you for posting it.

I ask this with the greatest of respect. Did anyone in the band ever enter rehab. They seemed as a band to conduct business away from the public eye and they seem in great shape now but what a tragedy we lost Mr Bonham.

I love this song with my only criticism being I wish the keyboards had gone more for a psychedelic and heavier vibe (IMHO). I agree Bonzo drumming is remarkable subtle and lyrical. Roberts voice is amazing and I do like the minimal feel of Jimmy's guitar. An underrated track.

Those performance clips of the band are just amazing. Anyone who saw them during that time were so lucky.
