  1. I have to say neither. These days I only listen to Zepp boots where I am getting the real deal - no cuts, no edits flown in from other gigs and no overdubs. I love listening to Zeppelin knowing I'm hearing what the audience heard on that night. It's 'real', mistakes and all. I would happily listen to releases that have had their sound quality significantly improved but not if something like Jimmy's quest for perfection had occurred.
Unofficial recordings are a time capsule as well as a true record of what took place on a given night and the better ones are pure gold to me.

It goes without saying though that I buy every remastered release or new release.

  2. Immigrant Song, even the studio version.   I love the song but lot of times burnt out listening to it.

Immigrant Song / Heartbreaker were their best 1-2 openers IMO. Rock and Roll / Sick Again I like only because of Jimmy's jamming in SA. R&R I've heard so many times - our (UK) local had it on the jukebox back in 74 -  import 45, b-side Black Dog - must have spent a fortune wearing that disc out. So R&R is kind of worn out its welcome for me. The album track Song Remains The Same I love! The Song Remains The Same live deserved to be played further within the set, once they'd got into the groove enough to do it justice. I also loved The Train Kept A Rollin opener from back in the day and was pleasantly surprised that they brought it back for the Euro 80 tour.
Oh yeah, went off track a bit there......tracks I jump over are Moby Dick or Dazed and Confused if either last more than 20 minutes. To be honest, anything beyond that length is a bit self indulgent, but I do listen to the less rambling versions. Most times I do listen to No Quarter as once you get past JPJ's noodlings and Page and Bonzo join in, it can be a great experience.

  3. Jimmy may not be too happy about releasing any more live albuns due to his opinion that the quality of the recordings is not good enough. I would have to disagree. Here are some that could make excellent releases with very little, if any, editing. Just a few as examples:

1969-04-27 - Avocada Blues (Liquid Len)

    1969-11-06 - Winterland Party (Wendy)

    1970-01-09 - Royal Albert Hall

1970-09-04 - Blueberry Hill (I like Slumpymatrix version)

1973-07-28 - The Effect Is Shattering (NY) - EVSD

1975-02-12 - Four Blocks in the SNow (Bluecongo)

These are just a few recordings that with little editing would make excellent live releases. There are a lot more but I can be be ars$ed to make a big list.

The quality is there, a really good selection of shows are there, it just needs Jimmy to take his foot off the brake.
