  1. Laying down tough love for a junkie is really hard.

Especially when you love that person--and you knew them before they were a junkie.

Enabling is the coward's way out. I've been guilty of it, and I've seen many people I love guilty of it. But tough love is the only way to go if you really, really love and care about someone. It doesn't feel good, but sometimes, it's the only way to go.

You're right Mandy. My friend has been enabling for years now, like it's second nature.

I told her in my own tough love I could not stand by and see her life destroyed, while the junkie could give a rats ass about her. It saddened me SO much, that I had to temporarily distance myself.

I've had to do the same thing with an alcholic. For my own sanity as well, somehow they make it out like it's all your fault. So...I left, then it wasn't my fault anymore. He had to blame someone else for a change. I'm a toughy on this stuff. Because if your'e not...you go insane and Nothing changes. Like they say, you can't change them, but you can change your own reactions to their behavior.

Edited to add, I'm HAPPY because the sun is shining, and feels so good through glass...nice and warm.

    .............. .......

You have some great pics I've never see! I love it when I see new ones, like this "nurses" shot.

I've seen tons of this gig, but never this one.....THANKS!!!

  3. Chepito is not shy around the ladies! Hide your wives and girlfriends.

I met Michael Shrieve in an elevator at the O'Hare Hilton. It was on the 1988 Santana reunion tour and he told me he was recording an album with Andy Summers. He seemed pretty down to earth and was cordial.

    Indeed!

And yes, Shrieve IS very down to earth and still loves creating music. He was only 19 or so on that first tour, and at Woodstock.

I saw Santana twice Before I saw Zeppelin, at the same venue.

We got all the west coast bands here.

Mrs. Santana wrote a great read on being ...Mrs. Santana.

  4. It's such a cliche, but I really love the first few years of Santana, then he himself went off and though his playing is incredible, I found when he started teaming up with hitmakers a bit ......meh...nauseating.

Just by himself he's great! His sound is totally unique. And full of soul/love.

Mike Shrieve........ah...I had such a HUGE crush on him. I saw Santana one of the earlier concerts 69ish, maybe even 68. I was like 14, and I met them all. Long story.

Ohhh do I remember Chepito! <_<:)

  5. Stupid mine is, but I had no idea other people are using it on other sites!!

I made it up eons ago for the vh1 board. Then I was cinnamongirl here, natch.

Then during one of the board changes I had to change it due to losing all my info on the email password...

My thought was.... Plant is hot. Hotplant.

I used to like to choose different names on every new site I joined, because I had so many names I liked.

Now, it is easier to stick with one. Someone told me Google is trying to get peoples user names "permanent?"

Sorry to those of you who don't like Alison, but I love this picture.

This is a fabulous shot!!! Kudos to the photographer. Seems Robert has the ruffles thing goin' on as well as Jimmy. :hysterical:

Robert has upped his wardrobe me thinks, for Alison's sake.

    She's probably , " Oh c'mon Robert, just TRY it! "

  7. I've already there !!!

But I can be guided to darker terrain ! :shifty:

    That's my nieces name....pretty....Malia !

I guess this stuff should be PM....so I need to qualify most post...

I'd like it if Robert lashes out like this...I happen to like Radiohead...but don't care for Rod the Mod past his earlier Faces and Jeff Beck daze....:D

    WELL then! I hate you.

    :P;)

    yeah..J/K

Golly geez, you're allowed to dislike anyone .

Admit he was great in Faces...small or not.

  8. He must hate ol Roddy. He does indeed trash Rod at many, many occasion. And of course "He's allowed his opinion" jeez. But I truly don't get such harsh words over and over about Rod.

Just because he has had smash hit LP's doing what Robert considers "cabaret."

Rod's voice went through hell and back having cancer removed. I will gladly admit to loving alot of Rod's work.

I LOVE his voice, and he hasn't done anything THAT different than Robert....trying different genres he never had.

Let's see, how many LP's of Rods went Platinum in the first weeks?????

I'll stick up for Rod.

    To each their own.

And besides...Rod has soooo many hot ex's and little babies popping out so often, he pretty much might HAVE to "flirt with cabaret!"

    Edited....finally for that stupid mistake.....:bagoverhead:
