For me it WAS the Universal Amphitheater. Perfect size, perfect sound, not too far away....saw so many great shows there, Prince, Bowie, Radiohead, Jeff Beck, Stevie Wonder, Sting, The Tubes, Ozzy, etc., etc...but ALAS. They tore it down to build Harry Potter land! Still pisses me off

That actually looks like a very cool venue... I think the Microsoft Theatre has replaced it

The Forum, Hollywood Palladium, and Hollywood Bowl all would number in the hundreds, and vie for the top spot for the bigger venues. But clubs like Raji's, Troubadour, Scream, Echo, Spaceland would probably rank even higher.

I would love to go see a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Hollywood Bowl, Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium.

Thanks for the intel…information for life.

So I went to YouTube to check out that song…total blank. I do not remember that song at all. Unlike "Seether", "Eyes of a Stranger", "Mmm Mmm Mmm" and other one-hit wonders.

Also, at school the other day, I was talking to my friend (who is another huge music geek) about the Forum and about how you've been to concerts, and as soon as I say that you saw Elvis in '72, his eyes went wide and literally screamed "HE SAW THE FUCKING KING!!!!!????". He then looks at me and says "How the fuck did he get the money"

2 Questions - What venue have you seen the most concerts at and what is your favourite venue to see a concert?

Here is an illustration of how impossible that would be.

An old friend dropped by today and we started reminiscing about old times. He proceeded to go into a story about a gig we went to and how this and that happened and all the while I am sitting there with a blank face thinking to myself "I don't remember any of this shit". Until he got to the part that happened after the show where we got stopped by the cops and the car would not restart…THAT part I remembered and the night sort of clicked in my mind all of a sudden. But I still had no recollection of the concert itself.

The band in question? Letters to Cleo. How am I expected to remember going to a concert by Letters to Cleo when I had completely forgotten about the existence of Letters to Cleo to begin with? If you put a gun to my head and asked me to name a Letters to Cleo song, album title, or band member, I would be a dead man.

Also, in case you are ever put a gun to your head for a Letters To Cleo song, album title or band member, go with "Here & Now" - 1994 single. We wouldn't want the Forum's top (I think) poster gone.

Okay, so another interesting thread in the Forum down in the dumps.... SIGH

Do you think you could name your top concerts that you went too, and just like name them til' your memory wipes out?

  7. 25 minutes ago, Strider said:

Ha! Good luck with that….it's impossible.

It is one thing to remember concerts when you keep a journal and only go to one a month or so. But I have gone to at least 2,000 or more concerts in my life. Those years when I was working for Mario on the Sunset Strip and enduring endless hair-metal bands and then hitting underground after-hour gigs with my friends are mostly a blur. I couldn't begin to detail every frigging night.

    Awwwwwwwwwwwww

I think I'm going to start a concert log, except I probably won't be able to go to even half the concerts you would see in a year. I live in god damn New Zealand, and so there is some live performances. There is a Faith No More concert in February 2022, which could be a nice start.

It was the first Zeppelin gig. My sixth concert overall.

I have been to 3 concerts, and I'm going to a festival in December. I went to see Santana & The Doobie Brothers at the Shoreline in California in 2019 (I was 14 years old), Queen (w/Adam Lambert) in Auckland 2020 (still 14 years old) and Crowded House in Auckland 2021 (15 years old, nearly 16)

Favourite one has to be Queen though

Oh whoops, wrong ages. I was 10 when I saw Santana & Doobie Brothers and when I saw Queen and 11 when I saw Crowded House (NEARLY 12)

Think a sibling took to the keyboard while I looked away

Very, very close. The two Long Beach shows I attended were June 27, 1972 and March 12, 1975.

The 1977 dates were a mess. The original dates that went on sale January 31, 1977 were March 9, 12, 13. A fourth date on March 15 was added later in the day. Then, sometime in February a fifth date of March 16 went on sale. Then, all the dates were rescheduled and moved to June and a sixth and final show for June 27 went on sale in late February or early March.

Therefore, March 9 became June 21, March 12 became June 22, and so and so on.

It actually was a blessing. If the original dates had held, I would only have been able to attend two shows…three at the most…because March was in the middle of the school year and most of the March dates were on weekday school nights. Moving the dates to late-June, when school was already over, allowed me to go to as many as my wallet and body could stand.

Was the Led Zeppelin 1972 gig the first show you went too?

14 Led Zeppelin concerts from 1972 - 1977.  Two at Long Beach Arena. One at Kezar Stadium, San Francisco. Eleven at the Fabulous Forum.

Right - let me think about this

June 25th 1972 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum

May 31st 1973 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum

June 2nd 1973 - San Francisco, CA, USA - Kezar Stadium

June 3rd 1973 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum

March 11th 1975 - Long Beach, CA, USA - Long Beach Arena

March 12th 1975 - Long Beach, CA, USA - Long Beach Arena

March 24th 1975 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum

March 25th 1975 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum

March 27th 1975 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum

    June 21st 1977 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum *

    June 23rd 1977 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum *

    June 25th 1977 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum *

    June 26th 1977 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum *

    June 27th 1977 - Inglewood, CA, USA - The Forum *

    I think.

    * - I think from the '77 shows, originally the dates for the Forum were March 11th - March 15th. Did you get your tickets when they were billed for these dates or...?

For the awe factor, Page and Plant here in Montreal. Row 4 center. I spent the whole show with my jaw on the floor. It was one of the greatest nights of my life.

For another band, hands down Tool. Everytime. They will blow your fucking mind.

BB King in a small club in the early 80s was pretty special too.

    Great question 123. Love it.

My friend went to see Tool in NZ 2020. They said it was amazing, and then played Fear Incolum.

  14. Yep. From what I know, I think they played it in Rotterdam on 1-11-75, and then Minneapolis 1-18-75. Also the first two of the Chicago nights of the '75 American Tour. Like I said though, from what I know.

I don't have any audio, mainly cause I don't want to do any digging and end up doing something that can get me arrested, cuz like I'm 16.
