  1. Thanks to you too aen. You are always very courteous. :)

In Chelsea there are always paparazzi around the area looking for celebrities. It looks to me like JPP didn't know he was being photographed.

It also looked like he was busy trying to get somewhere to care.

  2. Here's the original article w/ that photo. (New Musical Express, published: Jan. 18, 1975)

Wow!! Thank you so much, Sam! You have made my night! :D Thank you so much! I had never seen that articale before. I loved the story. :D

I haven't seen this photo before. It's great! But also taken by Pennie Smith are the well-known pictures from Wandsworth Common in September 1974. Here's one of them, and it's definitely the same guitar.

I know these pictures too. I also love the picture which is why I grabbed it when I could. I thought the same about the guitar. :)
  3. IDK - It looks almost photo-shopped....

It has the information that I put, Pennie Smith's address in London as well as the measurements of the picture on the back. It is real. It may have been takan at Swan Song.

  4. He was a winner in a guitar contest for Jimmy and the picture was taken by Pennie Smith as it says on the back. From Jimmy's hair and jacket, it looks to be around 1975. I had gotten this a long while ago from ebay. Does anyone know more?

  5. There is a photo of Page with his first wife and their son at Jason Bonham's wedding floating about the internet. In it, his hair is salt-and-pepper with a white streak (a la Joe Perry) in front.

    I know that picture well.

I like Jimmy with his natural white hair; it's softer on his features.

Yes, I agree. I have always liked it.

  6. Is that a clump of grey hair I see?

I understand he had been coloring his hair for a long time. Ross even comments in his special Lid magazine interview from last fall, that he only knew Jimmy with colored hair and the white haired Jimmy now is 'the real Jimmy,' which I found interesting.

  7. When I was looking at the Facebook page for the Richard Cole Appreciation Society, I noticed one of the members seemed to have met band members. So when I looked at her page, I noticed she had posted a picture of herself with Jimmy at the SwanSong offices. I am attaching it here, together with her comment.

I hope she doesn't mind the photo being reproduced here, but if so, Sam can remove it.

The photo is the copyright of Amy Maloney.

Amy Maloney "Swan Song was not posh, that's for sure! His shoelaces were untied. Disheveled elegance. A day I'll always treasure."

Thanks so much for this kenog. I have seen her around before. Thanks for pointing this out.

  8. I REALLY LOVE HIS LOVELY SMILE!

I love it too. He is telling the interviewer how he was surprised Tony Blair told him he was a fan. :D

Great pic, I have not seen this one.

From the Coverdale/Page tour program. :) One of Jimmy's vest ones in the 90s. :D

  9. He's looking particularly thin in the arms in those ones - or is it just the lighting?

He was always slender, but from '77 to past 1980, he was very thin, probobly from the drugs as he wasn't really eating from what I have read. You're not imagining it.

  10. Don't quote me because I'm going from memory at the moment but as I recall the black dragon suit was loaned to an exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum and it was there that he saw the mannequins had been cut to fit the display cases, so he was disappointed to find it was not being displayed properly. Later it was loaned (not donated) to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. I know it was there when I visited in July '98 the day prior to the Page/Plant concert at Gund Arena (Jimmy also visited that day, arriving thru the back entrance at 5:30 pm and staying until closing at 6 pm). It has long since been returned to him.

Insofar as the first "exhibition" of the suits, it could well be during this 1989 program for the BBC called Arena. I believe it was thru Bruce Dickinson that Jimmy agreed to make them available as he and Bruce had crossed paths in the 80s while engaged in charitable work. They are presented in the clip below at the 1:07 mark:

Thanks so much for this, Steve. I had never seen this before. The time that Jimmy was talking about was I think the Austrilian press conference for Unledded around 1995. While he didn't specify which suit it was , he did make it sound like the Victoria and Albert measum sent it to Cleaveland and they cut it. The Japan one seems to first time he has been pleased with an exhibit of his clothes.

  11. I thought he donated one of his suits to the RnR Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. Guess I was wrong. Thanks so much for your help Steve.

At a Page/Plant press confrence, he said when he when he had donated one of his outfits to Victoria and Albert museaum, it wound up in Cleaveland where he saw it and they had cut it to make it fit on the maniquin not making him too happy. :D The first time he actually approved it was in the recent Swinging London exhibit in Japan where he knew the people running it. Several of his clothes were in it. The pink Swan Song launch suit, his leather jacket from Supershow and a couple of Yardbirds era ones to name some of it.
