Deacon Jones
Saw that this morning.
Used to love the Fearsome Foursome.
He was from Eatonville, a historic town next to Orlando.
I went to Jr. High school with his nephew, Todd Jones.
Dude had the biggest afro in school.
RIP Deacon Jones.

The Black Angels @ The Mayan Theatre, May 21, 2013. A great show for a great low price of $23. Was right up near the stage, dead center. First opening band was Wall of Death, a psychedelic combo from France. Second band was Hanni El Khatib, merely okay. But the main event was Austin's finest, the Black Angels, and they delivered a great performance. Even better than the last time I saw them. They are touring Australia in June, then the UK and Europe this summer. I urge you to go.
Some photos I took with my phone...
I'm fairly certain they are scheduled to do a show this summer with The Black Ryder.
Don't know if you've seen them, Strider, but they put on a great show opening for The Cult a couple years back.

Rented Life of Pi from Redbox.
It was beautifully filmed, and I was reminded of Slumdog Millionaire the way the story moved between the present and the past.
Not absolutely sure I "got it" at the end, but overall, it was an enjoyable movie.

Watched it again yesterday.
As with the others, it gets better with more views.

Just got back.
Epic, and well-done.
I'll probably go again tomorrow.
Some of the funniest scenes of all.
If you don't laugh, something's wrong.

For the past couple weeks for me, it's been this, especially in my wife's Seville with the Bose stereo.

Uhhh, he's dead.
MediaMass is a satire site.
The ‘People’ section is a humorous parody of Gossip magazines, all stories are obviously not true.
And FWIW, if you run across anything from FreeWoodPost.com, it too, is satire.

I saw the trailer for this a while back at some other movie, so when I saw it at Redbox last night, I gave it a shot.
Typical, yet still very funny vehicle for Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller and Jonah Hill to do what they do.
Something I noticed about the filming/direction -
there seems to be a whole lot of ad-lib to a lot of the scenes, just a general direction to what direction they're going and then sit back and film as they feed on each other.
Many of the scenes had an out-takes reel feel to them, various responses piled one after another, and it gets cherry-picked for the best lines/interactions in editing.
Not that that was a bad thing - it was very funny.
Just something I noticed, how their seemed to not be a very strict script.
Overall, well worth a watch (see what I did there?) for some good laughs.

DAMN, that made me laugh hard!
RIP Bernie.

I love Heat In The Street!
Saw him live in 2000 with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Ha Ha! I know what you mean. I hated Rush back in the late 70s coz a kid in my class at school loved them and was always baiting me that they were better than zep and were gonna steal their crown. Over the years they have grown on me a bit and when Geddy Lee stopped screeching like a scalded cat they sounded a lot better. Technically brilliant eg XYZ (no vocals a bonus!) but emotionally soul less you either love them or hate them i guess!
I will grant Geddy Lee's voice is an acquired taste.
But then, I feel the same way about Steve Perry.
But the screechy quality really drives home a lot of the tunes, particularly The Temples of Syrynx.
It lends a frantic, driving quality to an already epically out-of-control rocket ride.
Signals is a fantastic album with many excellent tunes.
Alex's solo at 3:55 is so hot.
Really cool newer tune from Snakes and Arrows.
Great display of Neil Peart's incredible drumming.
This one has jumped up recently as one of my favorites.
Really sweet acoustic intro on this clip.

Jesus walked on water. Chuck Norris swims through land.
If working in an office with Chuck Norris, NEVER ask for his 3-hole punch.
-
FWIW, this is a nice Rush site - great photos from the shows.

I've read that their current set is heavy on the new disc and not much from the 70's until the encores!
Saw them 4 times, each and every show was awesome!!!
I saw both legs of Snakes and Arrows, and I believe both legs of the Time Machine tour, as well.
All had about 28 songs total with an intermission.
You definitely get your money's worth at a Rush concert.
Love the videos they do before, after and intermissions.
Forgot which one had Jerry Stiller - hilarious.

I shot this iPhone vid last night.
Not great quality, but a great moment when they played the last song of the main set - Would - then came back for the first encore song - Man In The Box.
