  1. yeah, i'd love to see them. wonder why christine didn't return?

I read somewhere she just couldn't do the touring any more. I think it got to be too much for her. You do that kind of touring for 25+ years and I don't suppose you could be blamed for wanting to live the quiet life. As a band, they definately miss her, but I do think they've done well without her.

  2. :cheer: That's great LDW!!!!! I've actually never seen them :o Bummer it's not until November though  But something to look forward to!

I know! I'm so excited - I don't know how I'll be able to last 'til November. If they do a second tour of America, I would really recommend going. They're a fab band.

that's cool LDW! love fleetwood mac, never got to see them either. who's in the line up these days?

Same line up as the Rumours era - Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. Christine McVie left back in '97, but they still do some of her stuff. I'm not sure if they're going beyond Europe, but it would be great if they did.

  3. I got tickets to see Fleetwood Mac this morning!! :cheer: I'm so excited. I can't wait 'til November. I saw them back in '03 and they were amazing. I promised myself that if they came back to the UK again I'd drag my boyfriend along. He's actually pretty excited about it too!! Yay! :cheer:

  4. Joni is one of my favorite musicians. Her voice is gorgeous and she has a really interesting guitar style too. I would have loved to have seen her in concert. I wish she would tour again!

I've only just started to appreciate her. I like some of the stuff off Blue and For The Roses, but my favourite album has to be Court and Spark - I love Car on a Hill.

There's wonderful footage of her performing California on the BBC in the early '70's, I'm amazed at how she can play that instrument (completely ignorant of what it is :bagoverhead:) and sing so perfectly.

  5. You probably couldn't lump her with rock singers, but I love Joni Mitchell's voice. The purity in it is so beautiful, as is the bluesy quality she's gained in later years.

Before her voice gained 'character' (that's one way of putting it), I liked Marianne Faithfull. I love her version of Sister Morphine. After reading her autobiography and what she went though, that song is all the more poignant.

  6. I saw Star Trek on Monday. It was alright. I didn't have a clue about it beforehand (still don't), so really wasn't holding much hope for it. I was surprised, however. If only because I didn't detest it like I so adamantly thought I would. I wouldn't see it again, though. Once was enough.

  7. Great idea about the ice cream truck. I'm having a senior moment......what is an GCSE?

General Certificate of Secondary Education. They're compulsory exams that we must do when we're between 15-16 years old and in our final year of secondary school (or high school) . We do an exam (sometimes more than one) per subject - roughly around 11/12. We usually start learning for them when we're 14-15.

I'm happy because I finally handed in my last assignment for the term. Yay me!

    :D

  8. That's just part of the way his character is written, ldw, from my perspective--and it's very well done (in the sense of convincing and consistent), I have to congratulate the author from that point of view.

It's a very clever, consistant persona to carry - to never slip up - after all this time.

The fact that he's tugging aggressively on his hood - as if a glimpse of flesh would reveal all - is revealing. It's not because he doesn't want us seeing his face for fear of ridicule, but, because once we do, he will become a person and not a character. And the character is all he's got.

  9. You're not the only one ;)

I liked that he believed that I thought he was hot - despite not even knowing what he looks like. Seriously, when I joke with my brother about how a 'wanted' poster should be, it's like that. It's laughable.

  10. I haven't read through the entire thread (and don't hate me for saying this) but there is something very homoerotic about those two together.

You can also feel the physical attraction between the two of them (especially from Jimmy to Robert). And Robert always looks like he's flirting with Jimmy on stage.

I think you can see whatever you want to see. If I look at particular pictures, I'm convinced that Jimmy is looking at me. But, of course he's not.

The two men in question would probably disagree with you, though.

  11. I've always been partial to Dog and Butterfly - the album and song as well as Love Alive. Little Queen is also a great album. I also have a live acoustic album of Nancy Wilson that's really gorgeous. Just her and a guitar. She does a beautiful version of Simon and Garfunkel's "Kathy's Song" and "In Your Eyes"

I love Mistral Wind from D+B. Little Queen is a great album, though it took my longer to appreciate than Dreamboat Annie. Dreamboat had that funky vibe, whereas LQ really put to use that mandolin! There's definately some Battle of Evermore-esque channeling going on there. I love Go On Cry from LQ, too.

  12. Love Heart. My favourite song will always be Barracuda, though my favourite album just has to be Dreamboat Annie. When Roger was on board they were pretty much the 'female' Zeppelin - and they did some crackalackin' covers, too. The Rover is amazing, and since we'll never hear the 'real' version, hearing Heart do it - and doing it perfectly - is alright be me.

  13. I dunno I mean, there have been 8 cases over here in England but to be honest the only reason that most of mexio was killed becuase of it was becuase it is an LEDC. Whereas in more developed countries we have the medicine and the help ect...

saying that I did see a couple walking down the streen waring masks.

But my opinion is that it isn't anything majour to worry about-What about the birdflu?

I think you meant Britain, here.

On the news it was said that test results confirmed the UK's first person-to-person transmission of swine flu, in a friend of a couple from Scotland who were first in the country to be diagnosed with the virus. I read last night that they actually believe that they contracted the flu on a flight from Mexico.

  14. Amazing - my family has been making them since I was a kid (even before there was a Led Zeppelin)!

Here's our simple recipe that works best for the usual size jar of sauce and package of cheese (feeds 4 people):

Slice 10 muffins open, toast (I broil quickly in oven, on a big baking sheet), spread marinara sauce (I found Rinaldi to be the best consistency) over the tops, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, add favorite topping (diced green peppers, here), and bake 10 minutes (350* F).

Be careful of burning the roof of your mouth, on the first bite!!!

Hmm, I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks :D

  15. We live in New York, which supposedly has the world's best pizzerias - but almost always make English muffin pizzas, instead. Are these popular in England?

I can honestly say I've never heard of an English muffin pizza. What is it?

  16. Whilst I think it's something to be treated very seriously, I can't help but feel some of it is scare-mongering. According to the Beeb, all fatalities have been in Mexico, and all other cases worldworld have been said to be 'mild', with patients making a full recovery. Hell, even the two confirmed cases in the UK are said to be 'recovering well' at home - they're not even in hospital. I don't think it's something to turn a blind eye to, but then, I don't think it's going to be comparable to the 1918 'flu - I hope.
