Janvier
A very short-lived band, existed a few years between the late-sixties and the mid-seventies. Their song John Barleycorn Must Die is to me the epithet of a folk song. The song has since been covered by many other artists like The Minus 5 and Billy Bragg. dazedcat
The album after Barleycorn, "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" was always my personal favorite. The 60's version with Dave Mason was very good, but 70's era Traffic was the very best.
Deborah J
^^ Mine as well. Think I'll put this on as it's been a while.
Jimmy Jam
Traffic is a very underrated band in every way possible. They had great musicians, great albums and great songwriters. Jim Capaldi is one of the greatest lyricists I have ever heard. Chris Wood a very good multi instrumentalist. Of course Steve Winwood was awesome, before his top 40 crap he did in the 80's. Too bad Dave Mason couldn't have stayed in the band longer. I got a autographed Fender Strat by Steve Winwood, that I recieved in 1999 and I have been a Traffic fan eversince.
