Patrycja
So director-turned-explorer James Cameron has been working on a new project for several years that is culminating in a deep sea journey as we speak. He is on a one-man submarine attempting to reach the deepest place on earth, the Mariana Trench. You can check out info about the expedition and follow the latest news here: http://deepseachalle...com/the-latest/ And here's the DeepSea Challenge twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/DeepChallenge As of now, Cameron is the deepest diver in history. It's really kind of amazing.
Anjin-san
"This is only the second manned expedition to this ocean's deepest depths - the first took place in 1960. The earlier descent was made by US Navy Lt Don Walsh and Swiss oceanographer Jacques Piccard." 3rd Looking forward to the photos!
Patrycja
Yeah I mean it takes a lot of guts and dedication to do something like this. Not exactly your typical Sunday. He's just starting to surface now. Hopefully it all goes well. There'll likely be photos, a documentary, a 3D doc, collected samples, maybe some travelling display... I can't wait to see what it was like.

Patrycja
^ The last time they went down to the Trench (1960) the sub was so heavy that it whirled up the sand/partilces on the bottom, limiting visibility almost completely. No pics! Talk about a let down!!! But Cameron's sub has all the latest equipment and is 1/12th the weight of the original, so hopefully the final product will be something like those Earth and Oceans series they've put. Those have been top notch. p.s. he surfaced safely http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2012/03/120325-james-cameron-mariana-trench-challenger-deepest-returns-science-sub/ Edited March 26, 2012 by Patrycja
redrum
Must be nice to be one of the uber-rich. Now he'll be milking Titanic with 3-D to become even more uber-rich and tell the rest of us how to live. My sister has lived on Guam since the mid 50's. Just thought I'd mention that.
