Bong-Man
http://www.detroitne...hares-his-story 5 amazing things in the Gregg Allman memoir 1. It was Gregg who showed his older brother, Duane Allman, his first chords on the guitar, after Gregg bought a $21.95 Sears Silvertone ("Don't forget the ninety-five," Allman drawls). In 2003, Duane was rated the No. 2 guitarist of all time in Rolling Stone's ranking of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, behind Jimi Hendrix. 2. On the phenomenal young guitarist Derek Trucks, greatly influenced by Duane (who died in 1971): "Do I believe in reincarnation?" Gregg writes, "after seeing Derek Trucks, how could I not?" 3. He laments that Motown's Studio A in Detroit, which had "the best rhythm guitar sound" ever, isn't used for recording anymore. 4. Ex-wife Cher is described as a "sweetheart," and he thanks her for proclaiming him her best lover, but confesses he didn't like her singing. Ever Southern and polite, he writes: "I was really glad that she never asked me what I thought of her singing, because I'm sorry, she's not a very good singer. When she talks she has the sexiest-sounding voice … that's the way she ought to let it out when she sings." 5. He thinks about brother Duane almost every day, once noting that if he asked him a question in the morning, he'd have his brother's answer that night. Duane's daughter Galadrielle, whom Gregg calls his "third daughter," is writing a biography about her father.
