Daniel186
Hello, I've recently acquired a sealed US copy of Led Zeppelin I. It has the "ATLANTIC SD 8216" catalog number on the spine, but there is also another number "0698" next to the catalog number, which I've never seen before. Can this record be the first pressing? Thank you.
Pb!
0698 refers to the suggested retail price ($6.98). I will have to check my copies to see if any of them also have it.
porgie66
You'd have to open it up and check the matrix numbers. There are many early pressing variations. I believe a true first US press has handwritten matrices ending in -A or -AA and would be a Monarch or Presswell pressing. You have to open it up and check the deadwax.
