  1. I gave my two weeks notice at my job and feel as though 1000 pounds has been lifted from my shoulders...and I am taking a few months off. I plan on taking some time to enjoy life. As I get older I am finding that the most valuable thing is TIME! I can't wait to wake up in a few weeks and do whatever the hell I want to do.The only person to change my life is me..so I did it and it feels amazing! :yesnod:

I know I have to go back and work for many more years, but I am going to soak in every day for at least a little time:-)

Wow. I admire your courage, Deborah! Who among us has always wanted to do something like this but was too afraid? Me!!!!

I am so happy for you, I know you will make the most of each moment and great things will come your way!

My best as always to you.

    Cheers!

    Edited for spelling

  2. It's a 3-day weekend!!! And even though it will be way too cold to go outside, I won't be at work. And there is wine in my house!!!

Now, I just have to get through the rest of the work day...

Couldn't happen to a nicer girl!

Cheers, E! I will be enjoying adult beverages myself starting......NOW!

  3. Getting ready do do battle with 24" of global warming in the driveway! :tears:

And maybe more coming our way this weekend, KB! Wonder whose roof will collapse first?? Mine or yours?? I literally can't see my back deck anymore, I gave up trying..

  4. Just saw on the news that the New England area is supposed to get hit hard again with the white stuff--hope all of you good people up North stay safe in the blizzard....

I keep reminding myself that next month is March and spring is right around the corner. This could be happening in December....

  5. Sent hubby to the firehouse this morning with everything he needs to make chili for the game...They will also have steaks...and hopefully get to stay in the station.

My son has already placed his pizza order. I learned that today is the busiest day of the year for pizza takeout.

That leaves my daughter and I home to enjoy hanging out..not sure what we'll whip up yet.

  6. Daughter made beef bourguignon! It was excellent, she used the recipe from Julia Childs' The Art of French Cooking cookbook. It took her like four hours to make and it was so delicious! She served it with polenta and french green beans, yum!

Sounds terrific! I am a big fan of Ina Garten who credits much of her success to the cookbooks of Ms. Childs. Good for your daughter for attempting one of her recipes!

  7. I was drinking beer. Triple C IPA (I try to drink local). The very nice man next to me - Ray - did try to buy, but that wasn't happening... :)

I must say, I was pleasantly surprised that 2 of the regulars there (both guys) were drinking red wine. I don't see that often in the neighborhood taverns. One of the guys had a glass and a ginormous bottle right next to him. I get the impression that he will be there until the bottle is empty...

Damn, wish mr planted and I were there to join you!!

  8. Thanks for reminding me of that, planted. Snow looks all nice and pretty to this beach boy but I always forget about the rock salt and dirty muddy snow that comes from dealing with snow in reality.

    Sorry to burst your bubble...

  9. The youngest of the remaining survivors are in their seventies now. Very soon the Holocaust will pass out of living memory. When I was a kid, my parents patronized a dry cleaner that was owned by Holocaust survivors though I didn't realize this at the time. It wasn't until the husband died and our local newspaper ran his obituary that I understood why he had a numeric tattoo on his wrist.

    Your parents are good people.

  10. Remembering 70 years since of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Thank you for posting this, SozoZoso!

It was reported today that a decade ago there were 1,500 survivors present at an anniversary event.

    Today there were 300.

I have had the profound and humbling occasion to meet a survivor of 4 camps, including Auschwitz...he recalls as a young man being in the presence of the monster, Dr Mengele. Imagine that for a second.

  11. Yes she loved it. Going from one extreme to another coming from sub tropic temperatures to freezing would've been a shock to her.

Apparently the worst is yet to come. I hope you're ok. Boston is getting hammered according to reports too.

We are in our summer now and it was very hot up until the weekend when it started to rain here. When it clears up in a few days time it'll be very humid.

Thankfully we haven't had any fires on the east coast but the south and west have had a few this year.

    Stay warm and safe.

We are fine so far. My husband has been at work since last night and I have no idea when he will be home...probably by tonight.

Worcester has about 25" of snow now, and it ain't over. Whiteout conditions and it actually snowing sideways!! Expecting 30" at least.

Thanks for sharing your weather conditions..I am definitely a summer person!
