  1. U2 with Muse at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, October 3rd. Very outstanding stage presentation but I still wish I had seen them when I first had a chance to when they played Kenan Stadium on the War tour back in 1983.
  2. More clips from last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS_KsA9zg-4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rewqo8a0274
  3. Video from last night's show in Durham: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcpjBNao1_g
  4. Alice Cooper's Theatre of Death show in Durham last night. 7th Avenue Vampires with Dennis Dunaway opened. If this show is coming anywhere near you by all means don't miss it. I waited nearly a lifetime to see him in concert. It turned out to be everything I hoped for and more.

All of R.E.M. but Peter Buck fell ill during the Monster tour in 1995 yet they successfully completed the tour. That's but one of many, many more examples that could be listed. Hell, just look at Lynyrd Skynyrd, they're down to only one original member yet they soldier on for better or for worse (judging from what I've heard of their new album I'm going with the latter).

Many, many musicians have been sidelined over the years and have gone on to create tons of great music. How does Johnson undergoing a medical procedure and taking some time to rest constitute "the beginning of the end"?
  7. Thanks, that's a great site. Still, I haven't been able to find out if there's an opening act (or who it is) for Wednesday night's show in Durham. I'll have to go back and dig a little deeper.
  8. I thought it was available to view online for free at some site like Hulu but I was thinking of Before the Music Dies (another great doc). It's certainly worth the rental though. Better yet, you might even be able to find it used somewhere, Agreed. I don't have a ton of Townes myself but most fans recommend starting with Live At Old Quarter. I do have that one and love it. This is also a good one:
  9. Alice Cooper's Theatre of Death show which hits Durham on Wednesday. The concert I've quite literally been waiting a lifetime for.
  10. The Steve Wynn IV/The Baseball Project/The Minus Five at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro. There was no opening act, just two sets by Steve Wynn, Scott McCaughey, Peter Buck and Linda Pitmon that drew from the catalogs of all of the participants. Peter Holsapple of the dB's was in attendance and joined the band onstage for several songs, including The Ballad of John & Yoko. Hands down the best show I've seen this year. By all means don't miss it if it comes to your town.
  11. If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend checking out the Townes doc Be Here To Love Me. That and Heartworn Highways (which also features Guy and Steve Earle) are essential viewing for any Townes fan.
  12. Minus Five I Don't Know Who I Am (Let the War Against Music Begin Vol. 2) [No Artwork Available] Minus Five Butcher Covered To the best of my knowledge Butcher Covered is only available at shows on the current Steve Wynn IV/The Baseball Project/Minus Five tour.
  13. Can't wait for Wednesday night and my first ever Alice show. Was there an opening act?
  14. Another great offering from Mr. Clark. Highly recommended to anyone that's a fan of the songwriting style of Townes, Steve Earle, John Prine, etc.
  15. Cool cameo from Edward on the season premiere of Two and a Half Men last night.
  16. I'm in search of a 29" G & S Bowlrider. G & S apparently brought them back a few years ago but they're no longer in production. Rare decks such as that are fetching a pretty penny on eBay.
  17. I'm curious as to what bands weren't "Rock's First True ALL-FEMALE Hard Rock Band Ever". Were there groups trying to pass themselves off as being "all female" that actually weren't?
  18. I recently had my old Gordon & Smith Fibreflex slalom board refurbished which put me in the mood for watching this instant classic.
  19. The Steve Wynn IV, the Baseball Project and the Minus Five at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Saturday.
  20. Having never seen this back when it first came out (1980) I snatched up a copy of it at Big Lots a year or so ago but never got around to watching it until this week. Yes, it's pretty horrible but it also has it's moments (unintentional and otherwise), including Blondie's rendition of Ring of Fire. Way back when, a local club I used to frequent in Goldsboro, NC got the inspiration for their name from this movie, "Roadies: Where Bands Make it Rock, Roadies Makes It Roll". As a music fan I also found it particularly interesting because of the time period it captures. One when New Wave and Punk were starting to enter the mainstream. You also get some vintage Hank Williams, Jr. I've never really been much of a fan but I did enjoy his performances in this movie.
  21. I got an email from AliceCooper.com yesterday for my ticket to see him on the 30th, thanks to the pre-sale I have a seat in the third row. Still haven't been able to find out who's opening but I'm looking very forward to my first Alice show ever.
  22. Folks have been recommending it to me for years. I noticed it was on AMC or TBS last week but I passed on watching it since I had the DVD. Last night seemed as good an evening as any to finally give it a shot.
  23. Some friends lent this to me close to a year ago, I finally got around to watching it last night.
  24. The T's at Local Band Free Beer Night at Tir Na Nog in Raleigh. Hard to go wrong with free music and free beer. The new T's songs sounded pretty promising too.
