  1. Thanks ally.

The press keeps hounding us for a statement. Even showed up to his house last night and was able to coax his widow into letting them in (she was apparently inebriated - and justifiably so) to her house. One of my co-workers who lives by them got the press out of the house once he arrived. Hey press here's a statement, find the fuckin' gold car that ran him off the road and leave everyone else to grieve without a microphone in their face!

Couldn't agree more about the press Walter. Kudo's to your co - worker for taking matters into his own hands and putting the widows best interests ahead of everything else. I hope they catch the driver of that car soon !

  2. One of my co-workers, whom I have worked with for 8+ years, died today coming to work. Another car ran him off the road, then sped away, and he hit a tree. I am just numb right now......

Very sorry to hear this Walter. My condolences to you , his family and his friends.

  3. I picked Luke Donald as one of my four. Not off to a good start as he is 8 over.

If there's one tournament that can have major swings in scoring, it's The Open. I still like Luke Donald's chances of being in the hunt on Sunday

  4. It's THE OPEN from the treacherous links of Muirfield starting tomorrow. Tight fairways, rough like Plants hair and as dry as a nuns crotch. Tough, tough, tough.

My picks for this tourney are:

    Justin Rose

    Big Phil

    Graeme Mcdowell

    Outside bet

    Luke Donald

Two players who may not make the cut are

Tiger - he can prowl the rough for the last 2 days

    Rory

Like those choices CP . I'd add Jason Day into the mix too

  5. Thanks Ally. My troubles are minor compared to some other people in the neighbourhood. A few people had almost two to three feet of water in their basements including sewage water .

I Spent my morning talking to my Insurance company to get an adjustor out here. Oh joy. Other than the property damage to theCity and the residents, we are lucky there were no casualties.

Glad to hear you weren't hit quite as bad as some of your neighbours . Nothing quite like standing in your basement and being knee deep in shit and water ! Hope that insurance adjustor arrives soon .

  6. First the Calgary floods, then the fatal disaster in Lac-Mégantic. I wish all those affected in these tragedies Godspeed. Their situations were quite horrible compared to what happened to us in Toronto yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

Toronto go hit with an epic rainstorm.125 mm (5") fell in just over an hour . Flooding everywhere. 1400 people had to be rescued from the GO Train (the regianl train service). The highest one day rainfall ever recorded in our City. Backyard was flooded and spent all night mopping and squeegin the basement.. No power so I couldnt shop vac until power was restored this morning.

More rain storms coming later today. Yippee

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the reports on the rain and flooding in Toronto ! I hope all of our brothers and sisters in the TO area are doing fine and that the next storm is mild compared to yesterdays

  7. Indeed, and based on that fact I can't wait for the investigation to uncover exactly why it happened...safe to say there's gonna be a few people sacked over this incident...some of the bodies may never be found...

Reading the comments over at cbc.ca regarding this tragedy is sickening (as it was for the Calgary flooding)...people taking advantage of something like this just to try and push forth partisan political or anti-oil agendas...stick to the tragedy, folks, help out if you can, save the goddamn soapbox ranting for later!

    Totally agree with this !

  8. Mind ya, these kinds of stories don't surprise me, anybody who thinks Canada isn't immune to terrorism is pretty dumb IMO...I was only two years old when Pierre "Just Watch Me!" Trudeau put the fucking country under Martial Law in order to deal with a Quebec Separatist terror organization (the FLQ). Any other Canuckleheads here remember that one?

    Yep, I remember alright !

  9. i hear you, ally.

it's 3.40 am, and i've been tossing and turning since 10.30. got a bit of sleep here and there, but got up to take a pain killer. so tired....

Well, I hear you too :yesnod: . With you taking the anti inflamator meds, your doc probably advised you to use heat to promote blood flow to the area .If I might suggest something, keep using the heat but try using ice packs or a bag of frozen peas on your back for about 15min before you hit the hay. I found it to be quite helpful :)

  10. Mrs CP came joint first in her Golf Lady Captains day yesterday. Some good news at last as the last few weeks have been difficult as redundancy has reared it's ugly head again!!!

Looks like her 20 years service is at an end and she will be redundant at the end of August. Still it means more time together and less driving for her.

Sorry to hear about Mrs CP and you, facing redundancy . I'm sure both of you will be happy to be spending more time together but probably not the way either of you would have chosen. I sincerely hope that both of you will be okay :yesnod:

  11. hi ally

i know you will have to always manage your condition, and i'm so sorry about that. how is it atm? are you glad you had the surgery? i guess you had no choice though ...

those things you mention - they all cost big bucks. maybe i should look into it though, thanks. :)

No regrets at all but that wasn't the point I was trying to make. As your friend, I'm just trying to say that what works for me or somebody else, may not work for you but, it's absolutely essential that we make pain management an individual, proactive experience. The way I look at it, dealing with chronic pain is absolutely no different than dealing with any other disease that we may be confronted with. Thing is, we probably wouldn't hesitate to be proactive with those other diseases yet, chronic pain will almost guarantee that our immune systems will eventually breakdown to the point that it makes us prone to other health issues. Listen my friend, I can't speak for you or for anyone else but I will say this, chronic pain can eat you up and spit you out so the way I see it, you may as well flip it the bird and give it as much of an ass kicking as you can along the way :yesnod:

  12. ally - of course i knew you were joking - all good :) i tell you, i wouldn't mind that injection RIGHT NOW, my back is really sore. dr said i have not only bulging discs, but also arthritis in the spine. oh, and don't forget the spur on the spine, too ..... :(:(

Just so you know Slave, even after having had back surgery, I will always have a certain amount of chronic pain so just like I did in the years prior to it becoming unbearable, pain management is the key to being able to function . The only difference this time, will be that I will deal with a pain management specialist. That may or may not include mild forms of medication but even if it does, massage therapy, physio therapy, accupuncture and other forms of non drug therapy will definitely be part of my life forever. I'd highly advise you to explore all of those options. Not as a replacement for your meds but as a compliment to them
