  1. Looking forward to seeing everyone's picks when Rich has a chance to post them. Think this is going to be one hell of a close tournament this year and could very well come down to the final hole on Sunday

  2. Someone got the joke. He was a dominating golfer, friendly sort of fellow, he wins the big one, and suddenly his game falls apart and he doesn't want to chat with people anymore. I don't get it.

I don't get it either ! I was at the final round of old Air Canada Open at Northview when he won that and aside from the fact that he was a Canadian, he was a really cool guy. That win was a bit of a spring board for him but yeah, he really lost the plot after the Masters win. No biggy that his game left him but disappointing that his attitude went out the window too

  3. This is a sad one for me. Annette was my first love. Think I was about 5 or 6 yrs old at the time . She battled MS for many years but always remained a very classy lady and someone I admired greatly. RIP Annette. Your legacy will not be forgotten. Not by me

  4. My son has had his Posting to Germany brought forward by a week, so I never got to see my Grandson....

Understand your disappointment Kate but I agree with CP. You will

You will Kate and it will be even more great when you do.

Update from yesterday. Mrs CP is feeling more up beat today which is great. Still no news re her job. It's whether the company feels compassionate enough to give her what she wants. It's very complicated

City beat us last evening compounding my general mood of malaise

Let's hope they do find a way to show Mrs CP some compassion.

  5. well, i have arthritis in it, but i do think it could be from the back also. sciatica, maybe?

weirdly, the last 3 nights it hasn't been aching at all. i started holidays 3 days ago, and drank some beer .... must be the cure!

LOL ! Well, being relaxed and away from the stresses of work certainly can't be a bad thing. A little alcohol's not a bad thing either. The sciatica won't be the the cause of your arthritis but whenever we're favouring a sore part of the body, you can guarantee that other areas will start hurting too. It took me ages to convince Mrs ally , who also has arthritis in her right knee, that going for massage on a regular basis would help eliminate her back and hip pain and in the process, help her alignment when she walked.Since she started doing so, she's found her episodes with the arthritis to less frequent and , more manageble

  6. I think I may start a neck/back problem thread?

Anyway we have had bad news this weekend. Mrs CP has had neck problems on and off for a few years. Last Tuesday she got a grating sound feeling at the top of her neck and had weak wrists and a numbing in one arm.

Doctor has diagnosed Cervical Spodolosis ( spellcheck?). Today she has gone for an x ray, which will prove inconclusive as it can't see cartlidge damage. The doctor also said that it years of driving which has caused the wearing of the cartlidge and the grating sound is the bones rubbing together. Naturally she is very worried. Of course she does drive for a living and it will mean that she will have to give up work.

We don't know how this is going to be in the future. We have heard physio/charopractor may work and acupuncture. We will have to wait and see.

Sorry to hear this CP. I had a similar symptoms a few years back and I'd be very careful with chiropractic care at this stage. That's not a knock against chiropractic care but it can be a very intrusive method if there is an injury.Especially in the neck. For me, I found a combination of physio and massage to be the safest and most effective option . It took quite a while for the tingling in my arm and hand to leave but once it did, I've never had a problem with it again . As far as I'm concerned, there's no question that both practices in conjunction with each other really were the difference. Regardless of the option she chooses though, I sincerely hope that she can find some effective long term relief

  8. Today I no longer live in a hoarders paradise as all my daughters stuff is finally moved out to her own place.

    I'm tired and sore.

Last I saw, your daughters move had been held up and I was going to ask you if in the end, it had all worked out. Sore or not, I'm glad it has :)

  9. i don't have any health insurance, so it would be a bit costly, i think. haven't heard of it being used on the knees, though ..... ?

Depends on what your knee problem is. A lot of knee trouble can be a direct result of lower back issues because one tends to walk out of alignment

  10. Glorious sunny morning, hardly a breeze. It looks like being a cracker. Just perfect for the Friday round

Hope you can get out and enjoy that round :yesnod: Weather here is a little mixed but very mild. Sun expected to return for the weekend. Think we may actually have a proper spring this year. Something we haven't had for a few years and something that we've sorely missed

  11. I know the old adage. But you know how it is? Driving and irons off the fairway are great, putting is shite. Next week it will be my long game that goes wrong and my putting will be great.

Conditions are slowly returning to normal. We are to lose the cold dry weather and of course it will be replaced by that bane of all golfers - the rain. Still we need to see the temps rise and that can only be a good thing. Everything is so brown we need to see GREEN

True enough CP. I was the same as well. One or the other but rarely both. Still, I always scored better if I was getting the ball out there so I'm not one to underestimate the importance of being good off the tee and leaving myself with shorter iron shots to the green. Just frustrating to double bogey when a par or bogey were quite possible

  12. Course updates:

Friday was our away day. In bitterly cold conditions 24 of us teed off. Fortunately the biting winds eased but snow flurries were never far away. I played OK considering I hadn't hit a ball for 2 weeks, but poor putting was my undoing. The first hole a par 5, I was on the green for 3 and ended up with a 7. Couldn't get to grips with the greens and it was like that the whole round. A poor 24 points. Mrs CP on the other hand blew the opposition away carding 38 points and winning the ladies section.

Sunday was a great day in comprison. Our home course was still snowed under so we played a friends course. The weather was great, sunny and no wind. The CP's were on pretty good form beating our friends by 60 points to 52. I personally played well carding 33 points but it could have been much better as again my putting was left wanting.

Yesterday in dreadfully cold dull conditions we went to our home course and played 8 holes all on temporary greens. There is still drifts of snow and Ice on the course and I can't see that moving because it is still cold here and we have just had a snow shower.

All in all there is room for improvement in my short game but I am optimistic for the season, assuming it ever starts!!

As they say CP..Drive for show but putt for dough..lol. That definitely applied to me. My short game has always been my problem.

  13. First Facebook...

    Now this forum.

Yes, friends, I am taking a break. A much needed one. Life gets complicated sometimes, doesn't it? Just feeling a new focus and direction in the air that I need to pursue.

Oh, I will be lurking to keep up on any tours, haha, but you won't see me posting much anymore. I have had some great fun and hopefully have made some friends along the way.

Oh, and I have NOT forgotten about this summer, eh hem...(you know who you are, and if its meant to be, it will happen, PM me)

Until next time, I bid you all peace. :)

I certainly understand your reasoning but I hope this break is short lived. You will definitely be missed !

  14. thanks ally...I will look for them shortly.

    Hey all, our committee had a late night meeting last night and it was decided that;

if a golfer, picked by one of our many forum members partaking in the pool, was to have to bail on the tournament before the first tee off on the Thursday of the Masters, we would let the forum member make a substitution. But, only if the player leaves before the first tee-off. ciao, Fishy

Great idea Fishy. It should be up to us to pay attention though. You're already doing enough :drinks:

  15. Spartan, I'm happy to hear that you feel you may be fine but none the less, will still be seeing your doctor for testing.

I also agree that everyone who worked for this dentist needs to be held accountable . Not only have he and his staff shown a complete lack of professional regard for their patients, it looks to me, in order to maintain a job, they've displayed complete disregard for humanity. Imo, no matter what their circumstances may have been, there's just no excuse for that

  16. Yeah, this story is off....if you are properly licensed with a state board, then there are so many agencies breathing down your neck at all times. There are endless audits, inspections, etc. It's just hard for me to wrap my head around this. How did no one ever file a complaint against this guy?

I don't know, just seems there will be more to this story.

I think so too Planted. Until all is revealed, I just don't want the weirdness of the story itself to minumize the fears of the patients involved. Everyone here from Canada will remember the tainted blood scandal that rocked this country . I should say, is still rocking the country, in an individual sense.

  17. The fact that due to some dentist, me along with 7000 other people may have HIV or Hepatitis.

It's a terrible story that unravelling itself and my heart goes out to those who have been or may have become victims of this crack pot dentist. I sincerely hope all works out in your favour
