  1. I've never been to the actual village of Tharwa, but I have driven past Tharwa Drive when i've been up in the Tuggeranong region of Canberra.

Nice pic and bike choppa! Classic Aussie bush town store and petrol bowser in the background. Gotta love the steelcap Blundstones ;)

Next time I get driven down by some bikie hoon on the Kings highway bk.gif i'll know who it is

Translation for everyone outside of Australia ........... Nice pic choppa

  2. I have my internet, landline and mobile (cell) phone with the same company, which happens to be the biggest telecommunication company in Australia (Telstra).

So why did it take you incompetent imbeciles over 30 hours to fix a fault in my area? .... meaning I had no phone or internet for that length of time .... aarrgghhhhhhhhhhh

  3. those poor bastards in SA and VIC ....... i can't imagine 46 degree heat ..... omg! :sos: :faint1: :veryhot:

I experienced 44.3 degree heat down here a few years ago. It was literally like being inside an oven. Every breath felt like it was burning right down into my lungs and I found myself only taking short, shallow breaths. My face was bright red and my eyes were squinting, trying to avoid the intense heat that was penetrating my into my eyeballs. Every body movement was an effort.

I don't know how people live in that sort of heat, let alone work, or heaven forbid, play tennis in the sun (Australian Open) through extreme temps like that.

  4. Luckily I live right on the coast, so my temperatures haven't reached past about 38C/100F ..... yet. January is our hottest month, so stay tuned for me whinging about melting in the heat soon ..... hahaha

Whoopie: You are an ex Pom. So, you wouldn't be you unless you are complaining about the weather !

    Ok, now i'm whinging!

The previous few days have been hot, but the next 2 days ....... around 46C/115F .... plus.

Unfortunately, there will be strong warm winds in parts of the country and a massive potential bush fire problem. Hopefully we can avoid it this year.

Same ol same ol Aussie January!

  5. Whoopie Cat, I understand completely how you feel and I sympathize. I would hate New Year's, too, if I was in your situation.

Amazingly, I was born just a few seconds before midnight and mum was given the option of having my birthdate as the 31st or the 1st of the year (back in the olden days, they weren't that strict on actual birth time records like they are today)

  6. hope you had a nice day/night. have all the rugrats gone home yet?

Thanks Jules, I went out for dinner with a group of good friends and we had a magnificent 4 course dinner. I could not fault the whole meal. Every item of each course was perfect.

And yes, all the little shits have departed. They're hard work! Plus they make me drink too much. They physically hold me down and force alcohol down my throat :lol:

  7. And Whoopie: You are an ex Pom. So, you wouldn't be you unless you are complaining about the weather !

sssshhhhhhhhhhhh ....... we don't talk too loudly about my place of birth.

And my weather has been brilliantly perfect lately, but it's bound to heat up soon enough and thats when you'll hear me whinging :D

    edit, because I can't spell

  8. He was a stowaway in my backpack. Since I hadn't taken him anywhere since my New England trip, I felt sorry for the little fellow and let him out to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf. Gumby says "Hi!" CP!

So Gumpy just kind of snuck into your backpack and hid down the bottom under your apple and bottle of water.

Then, when you reach for refreshments, you discovered the sneaky stow away ..... felt guilty for recently negleting him and decided to lather him in sunscreen, throw some bathers on and let him share your day of sun and sand? :suntan:

  9. Go back a 5 months and a few pages in this thread and the roles were reversed. We were getting flogged by you guys over there in England.

We've all experienced wanting to cringe and hide away from our cricket team's performances

Meanwhile, England batting, day 2 of Sydney, Cook just out and it's 2 for 8 ...... ouch!

  10. While you northern hemisphere people are freezing your lil butt's off, we're sweltering through an incredibly hot summer. Many parts of the country are averaging 40 to 48C/ 104 to119F temps, with a few towns reaching 50C/ 122F ...... even I can't comprehend that sort of heat.

Luckily I live right on the coast, so my temperatures haven't reached past about 38C/100F ..... yet. January is our hottest month, so stay tuned for me whinging about melting in the heat soon ..... hahaha

  11. Thanks for the birthday wishes Strider and Deborah :air_kiss:

In answer to your question Strider, I have always hated having my birthday on New Years Eve. When I was younger, I often received a combined Christmas and birthday present, which as a child, totally sucked. Then as a young teenager, my mum always insisted I be home by midnight, being the new year's eve thing ..... which completely put a downer on my 'wild teenage celebrations' ........ hahaha. As I grew older, because it was my birthday, everyone expected me to make the decision as to what we were doing that evening, which I actually hated having to do. Many times I just chose to go out to dinner with friends and family and then blew off any party celebrations and was in bed before midnight. Unfortunately, I hate New Years Eve as a result.

  12. I am unhappy that my Mom, who has terminal cancer and only a short time to live, lost her dog last night in its sleep. That broke her heart, and she could use a break from suffering.

I hope your mum can take some sort of comfort with her beloved dog having passed peacefully in it's sleep.

I also wish both your mum and yourself a gentle peaceful Christmas season.

  13. yeah, supposed to reach 40 C here too. :ahhh: :veryhot: :fan: :icecream: my day off today .....

A weak southerly just hit here (about 8.30pm), but it's cooled things down a a little ...... phew! A seriously strong one would have been so much better.

Unfortunately, it will be quite a while before it reaches the Central Coast for you Jules.
