  1. Hey Jules, have you looked to the western night sky in the last few nights?

A beautiful new moon with an incredibly bright Venus just to the left and below of the moon (depending on what time you view it)

    Stunning!!!

  2. WOW! i am so impressed! i could never do something like that. it would be all crooked, or such. well done! :)

I already had existing framework, so it was just a matter of measuring, drilling and hammering. It wasn't quite that simple and I do have slightly uneven shadecloth, which I found the hardest thing to put up. The worst part of it all, was getting up and down the ladder squeezing inbetween the beams. Luckily the howling winds we've had lately eased for me yesterday. Oh .... and I do have a bruised thumb nail from a missed hammer shot .... hahaha .... I mean ouch!

  3. I spent the day putting polycarbonate roofing, shadecloth and pine blinds on my back veranda patio (I love my electric drill)

Add my cane furniture and I now have a wonderful outdoor room all ready for summer :D

It was tricky at times and it may not be perfect, but i'm still very proud of myself :bravo:

  4. My condolences, Whoopie Cat.

    Thanks MLE

I have to put my beloved doggie down.

(She saw my daughter off to kindergarten and my daughter is now a junior in high school.)

    Damn!

I've had to do the same to one of my dogs and also this year, I had to put my 23 year old cat to sleep. They are very hard decisions to make, but ones that need to be made in the best interest of quality of life. It broke my heart each time, but I know it was the right thing to do.

As my vet said about my cat .... he would not have lived so long if he wasn't such a loved and cared for cat.

I'll say the same for you planted.

Our pets are part of our families and they are loved and cared for just as much. Know that your dear dog had a wonderful life, because of you and your family.

  5. Good on ya mate ! Love a bit of retail myself.

Today me and Mrs CP will be having a round of golf, now she is a lady of leisure of course

I did stock up on the groceries too (ho hum boring) although I now have the most luscious, best quality cumin and smoked paprika, which are my favourite spices.

I've played golf twice ..... and I barely managed to hit the ball each time  I did aerate the greens though

  6. There is a Harvest Moon tonight! http://earthsky.org/space/harvest-moon-2

    Beautiful song!

One of my all time absolute favourites ........ which has so many memories, for so many reasons, it almost breaks my heart.

I saw Neil Young perform at Hanover MA when I was in the States in 2010. He didn't sing Harvest Moon on the night, but it was still an incredible and memorable concert.

Tonight is indeed a stunning full moon ....... a harvest moon!

  7. There was this beautiful neighborhood cat that adopted me about a month ago. I'd feed her everyday and when I'd come home from work at night I'd sit on the front porch and love her. We were becoming so close, she'd even sit in my lap. This morning I woke up and found her dead on the front yard. Apparently some dog came by and murdered her during the night! Poor Sugar, I feel just-fucking-terrible.

aawww the poor little darling :(

The love and trust of an animal is unconditional, no matter if it's a short period, or over many years. They touch our hearts.

    My thoughts are with you.

  8. Glad you both had a wonderful weekend!

I just watched a few minutes of those clips and wow, those boys bring back some youthful memories

Throw in Farnham and you have all my first loves

Oh .... and thanks for embedding "oh mow mow mow, oh mow mow mow" in my head all weekend long ..... aarrgghhhhhhhhhh

had the best weekend with hubby :)

  9. I got up early to go into the local farmers and craft market. As I walked into the kitchen to make a cuppa, I looked out the window and saw the local street peahen (female peacock) who was munching on my rocket in the vegie garden. She's a pain in the bum and constantly enjoys a snack in my garden, but I can't get too mad at her, because it's not everyone who gets to have a peahen wandering around and snoozing in their gardens. I shooed her away and she squawked and fluttered her indignation, but she'll be back soon enough.

The markets had great produce, including the return of my beloved duck eggs (thanks for my addiction Puffer). After I came home, I sat out on my front balcony, savouring freshly picked strawberries and watched some mother and calf whales playing and resting in the calm ocean. Wow, they never cease to amaze and thrill me!

Later in the afternoon when I was walking my dog, I saw a little group of grey kangaroo's. A great big buck (dad), a mum with a joey half sticking out of her pouch, a juvenile and another female. Don't know if she was an older juvenile or a mistress.

Then when I got down to the beach with my dog, there was 2 more whales who were so close to the shore. The water was very clear because of the calmness, so it was easy to see the full length and details of the mum. Wow ..... best experience!

To top off my wildlife day, madam peahen was back ..... but this time I gave her some kale leaves. Stupid me .... haha

I had an amazing day of animals, right down to the little duckies who created those eggs for me :D
