  1. I recently binge watched the first 2 series of The Vikings on a rainy weekend. It's not historically perfect, but it's pretty close. Certainly not for the squeamish (I walked away after one particular episode and nearly gave up) And if binge watching includes watching the first 3 episodes of Outlander about 10 times each, then i'll also include the delicious new Outlander series. I've read all 8 books by Diana Gabaldon, which is the story the tv show is based on. Absolutely loved all the books and am thoroughly enjoying the series too.
  2. And while i'm on a roll The Beib ............ finally ..... Which I thought was ............. Ok, i'll stop now
  3. This is my favourite, although I was a bit hesitant to post it .... but then I thought, if you watch GOT, you won't be stunned by the language. I didn't watch the Emmy's and have never watched a single second of Breaking Bad, nor even seen any promo's about the show. I wouldn't know any of the characters in the series if I fell over them, but I assume these guys are in it ........... Gotta love The Hound
  4. Hope the hangover was worth it and you had a seriously good night  Dinner tonight ..... Traditional English roast beef dinner, with soggy peas and yorkshire puds. As much as I love and usually eat various cuisines from around the world, I occasionally get back to my birth roots and love a good home cooked roast.
  5. I wasn't having a go at you or being nasty, hence the winking smiley. All is good I guess us silly, worrying parents are just that .... worrying.
  6. I travelled to the US and then over to England and the scariest part for me, was the customs officials at LA airport.
  7. As one of three parents on this forum, whose daughters are travelling overseas .......... Shush! We don't need to hear our fears reinforced.
  8. I've never heard of her, so I looked her up ..... Wish I hadn't.
  9. My daughter (Veghead) is flying out next week for 6 months of trekking around various remote areas of Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and India. I know this will be an amazing adventure for her, but I will be so worried and scared. Why can't she choose a nice safe touristy area, instead of tribal villages accessible only by canoe ...... aarrgghhhhhh. When she boards that plane at Sydney airport, my post will be in the 'Unhappy' thread. I hope your daughter has a wonderful safe time in the States and an incredible experience at Disney.
  10. Happy Birthday Sean! I hope your day was filled with happiness and spent with people you love, lots of good food and great wine .......
  11. Not quite as bad, but yeah, you get the idea. All good now though
  12. I don't want to talk about it, but it's sure gurgling noisily away in my tummy. Meanwhile, i'm waiting for what I think will be the inevitable
  13. I never had any personal contact with pottedplant, but I know members here, who I have great respect for, hold this lovely lady in high esteem. I'm shocked and very sad that one of 'Our Family' has passed away. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
  14. This one is personal. A dear friend of mine and his very loved dog Gizmo. Gizmo had serious health issues and this was knowingly, their last night they spent together The gut wrenching look, as this heartbroken man gazes into his dearly loved dog's eyes. It breaks my heart! Just look at their eyes! Oh God, it kills me :'(
  15. Interesting read Strider. I never knew you were a fan of GOT. I think that is the first comment in here i've seen you make about Game of Thrones. Some of the comments I agreed with and others I just zoned out and glazed over as tv show/read the books/don't know any better naivity. I swear if I hear one more person say how great Emily Clarke's portrayal of Daenerys is, I will do a Viserys meltown on them (don't remember who Viserys is ..... read the books) So kingzee ..... are you hoping for a Breaking Bad or GOT win in the Emmy Awards?
  16. We have donuts here, but nothing elaborate, nor anywhere as much as you have in the States. We eat them more as a little snack mid afternoon and never for breakfast. When I was in America a few years ago, I did have a weakness for Cinnabon's cinnamon rolls. Actually it turned into more of an addiction
  17. Besides what everyone thinks, in Misty Mountain Hop, Robert does actually sing ..... Hey there Whoopie Cat .........
  18. Whoooaaaaa! Do you actually eat that? or is that your substitution for colonoscopy medication?
  19. My love and best wishes to you both, Mr and Mrs Puffer ..... xxxxxx
  20. I'm an Aussie, it's winter and i'm in hibernation! Whats the weather like here?!!!! ....... too fucking cold! :freezing:
  21. Ok, so you mean basic foot care. I agree, cracked dry heels look terrible. I've never had foot fungus issues, so I don't know anything about that. I'm surrounded by beaches where I live, so I think walking barefoot on the sand acts as a exfoliant and the salt water is cleansing. I don't know about Aussie's wearing thongs to work ...... that sounds like one of those crazy myths made up about us And if you're coming here for a holiday, you'd better learn the language. They're called 'thongs', not 'flip flips'
  22. Not everyone likes pedicures and painted toe nails, myself included. Don't ever come down here, because you'll see lots of unpainted toe nails in sandals and thongs (flip flops). Thongs are our summer essential and are worn everywhere.
  23. Children are indeed beautiful and a joy, but they can also be annoying little shits. Any parent will tell you about the frustrating experience of taking a child shopping. We walk past a restroom and ask the child if they need to do a wee, they say no. We ask again, are you sure? they answer no again. Then at the most inopportune moment, the child then declares they are busting and need to immediately go to the restroom. This usually happens in the middle of the supermarket, when we have a shopping trolley full of groceries and is of course, a long way from the nearest toilets.
