  1. I'm re-reading John Lydon's autobiography "No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs". I need to stop re-reading things, and find something new!

excellent book....reread it a few times myself.

    oh, and dragster-thanks!

  2. UPDATE: Steve...It IS in the book I referenced. I assume you have it. It's called Jimmy Page: Magus, Musician, Man: An unauthorized biography By George Case.

It's at the bottom of pg. 219 top of pg. 220.........It states "Someone who was pretending to be a friend stole the tapes....They were staying at my house comforting my ex-wife." After this is a citation #56 which is found on in the back on pg. 258. The author cites "Tolinski, July 2003".

    Hope this helps..............

brad tolinski is a frequent interviewer of jimmy page, mostly for guitar world. there is at least 5 or six interviews dating back to 1988. i don't have the 2003 interview that is being cited, however. anybody help?

  3. I'm going to post a photo soon - just as soon as I get one taken. I've been trying to pluck up the courage to do this for ages, as I'm a little shy. I think I'm about ready now, for two reasons:

    1. I have lost most of the weight I wanted to lose (21lbs so far)

    2. I have a new Zep t shirt (skinny fit, 'cos I can do skinny fit now, yay!) :yay:

So I'll let you all finally put a face to the name over the next few days.

    awesome! hi, pal!!!

  4. QUOTE (jimmie ray @ Jul 16 2008, 08:27 AM)

There sure is some hoopla over Billy Joel playing Shea stadium tomorrow. He's added a big orchestra section to his lameass band, and promises for it to be as big as when the Beatles played there in 1965. This guy has been a thorn in my side for over 30 years. He made himself popular in this area by injecting various local town names into each song, so that Escalade driving phonies can get off on hearing their hometown mentioned repeatedly on the radio. He's so revered here, for such inspirational lyrics as "so you stay at home, and masterbate", and "they found your father, dead in the swimming pool". And who the fuck buys their paintings at Sears?

Does this guy exist outside of New York, or am I solely being tortured by him???

lessee, i think he added tony bennet to his lame-ass band as well.

thorn in your side for 30 years? pay him the money you owe him, shyster!

local town names in a song? oh, you mean johnny cash? chuck berry? beach boys? no?

choose your own hell, or one will be chosen for you....

  5. Finished Pileggi's WISE GUY, started Jordan's EYE OF THE WORLD for the fourth time. Never finished it but currently on page 180.

if you like pileggi, read 'casino' next. ten times better than the movie....

  6. aiggyncor.jpg

Someone asked I scan the pic of Corel (?) at Rodneys.

Sorry it's small, but you can enlarge it to see it better.

    :)

Such is NOT the case in the pic of a naked Iggy. Nothing SMALL about it! :o:shifty:

Whoa! He may even have Robert beat in that area..........

bottom picture is at the rainbow, isn't it?

nah, rodneys...i just enlarged the pic!

this is iggy's autobiography 'i need more'? i just got done a few months ago with an iggy book 'open up and bleed' which was tremendous!

  7. Does anyone know the name of the artist and the name and date of the painting in this photograph? My friend and I always thought that this photo was taken at Pangbourne and the painting was one from Jimmy's collection of Pre-Raphaelite art:

    JPPangbournePainting.jpg

looks 16th century dutch to me (a guess), but i don't recognize the artist. a color photo would help a little...

  8. I really did save the creation on an online site... PM me if you're really interested because I don't want to spam the board... I won't make a profit either, it's free for you to buy yourself. :D

I really was going to make a thong, though... don't know how many people would actually want to order one B)

been awhile since i wore one of those...

  9. I made some calendar gal teeshirts.... every girl on here is so gorgeous, they'll be a calendar gal sooner or later :D

    lzcalendargirlch2.jpg

I was going to make commemorative thongs but the picture wouldn't fit hehe

    that's funny, right there....

    ....but i want one!

  10. I finished Ronnie ... the autobiography of Ron Wood.

Really good read, he was refreshingly honest, about everything. Extramarital affairs and all, and how so many of the same rockers and chicks back then seemed to all screw each other eventually.

Funny! Photos of all his kids, the moms.

    I'd recommend it. :D

i did not care for this book. too much crack smoking and not enough music for me. the digging for crack pieces on the carpet chapter ruined it for me. i got it for christmas, read it and took it back for 'no country for old men' by cormack mccarthy...much better.

i'm currently re-reading 'psychotic reactions and carburetor dung' by lester bangs. more than awesome record and concert reviews from the '70's, excellent essays on the state of rock and roll and punk and the musicians that inhabit it.

    highly recommend...

  11. I remember reading somewhere that she took him under her wing during the first American tour. In a 2005 tv interview he talks about her with a lot of respect. They do sound very similar.

i've read this and saw the interview as well. he did speak of her reverently. i found it odd that the subject had never really come up before. i need to look this up....

  12. Have you noticed how Paul Mccartney's almost getting as bad as Cliff Richard these days? I mean I saw a couple of song clips from his "Memory Almost Full" album, and, shit, I just don't know what Macca is thinking...

    do you mean this-'dance tonight'

    i quite like it...

this one 'ever present past' i thought was lyrically personal, musically 'pop' paul, and the video entertaining if not slightly derivative.

  13. Hey, it's me again...with another question:

What is the best Who-biographie? And I don't mean the Hammer Of The Gods kind of book, if you understand what I mean.

i'd have to say 'before i get old' by dave marsh. he's not my favorite writer but this is his best book and it was pretty much straight from mostly pete's mouth. he had access to everyone in the band, they've never disowned it or acted like they hated it, and it's very sympathetic to keith moon.

    fav anecdote from the book:

moon runs into a pub to meet a writer for an interview (after missing some 4 previously scheduled appointments) he's carrying a shoulderbag which he throws on the table, opens and pulls out a hatchet, slams it into the table top and says: 'thats for roger....'aven't seen 'im 'ave you?"

  14. moaning at midnight: the life and times of howling wolf

    james seagress and mark hoffman.

my second read of this killer blues bio. wolf is one of my favorite vocalists and i loved this book the first time i read it.

  15. He has several albums. His earlier 70s' work is better than his later music. I suggest getting Smash Your Head Against the Wall. You can probably find samples of it on some site. Like Amazon or sumthin'.

pick up 'who's the bass player-the ox anthology'. all the best of his solo stuff with some live versions of ox's who songs.

    here's his website:http://www.johnentwistle.com/

  16. Strange comment. Hurricane is a great song, I love it as much as any other of his classic songs.. The whole Desire album is awesome. ...and I don't see why one's have to be young to have Hurricane as a favorite?! Oh well..

'desire' is considered dylan's best by many. i love it myself. ignore that dope. i've been digging the live album 'hard rain' recently. excellent for-your-life versions of 'big girl now', 'idiot wind', many more. check it out if you haven't.

  17. i'd dig up the re-release of 'big brother & the holding company featuring janis joplin' on columbia/legacy cr66425: 'bye, bye baby', 'call on me', 'down on me' and plenty more. reissue has 4 bonus tracks.

check it out (for cheap thrills)
