  1. Just because t-shirts cost that much at a concert doesn't mean that is there true market value. The shirts real value can't be more than $20 and the cd can't itself be worth more than $20. The CD is mostly rehashing stuff most of us had already, and while the shirt is nice, I still haven't seen enough to make me think I'm renewing my subscription when it comes up.
  2. If you allow yourself to think openly about a replacement for Entwistle, you'll find Pino does a very good job.
  3. Pino Palladino has been the bassist with the Who since Entwistle died.
  4. Update on the Who's official site: While I still believe that the site isn't worth $50 dollars yet, it just got closer to being worth the money. In addition to the other things already mentioned that the site offers, subscribers get an additional t-shirt, and it's a good looking one at that!
  5. I know... I fear my youth will be gone before I know it.
  6. If you actually bought it, you might as well listen to it asap. I understand the argument of making oneself wait until release day to hear the album over listening to a leak, but there's nothing wrong with listening to it if you actually buy it.
  7. Source The Raconteurs’ New Album Hits iTunes Early The Raconteurs surprised the music world when they announced Monday that their new album Consolers of the Lonely would be released this coming Tuesday, March 25th. Well, Tuesday came early, as the album is now available on iTunes. The band intended for the album to be released in all formats on Tuesday, as the press release stated, “The purpose: to get the album to the fans as soon as possible and as we promised. We wanted to get this record to fans, the press, radio, etc., all at the EXACT SAME TIME so that no one has an upper hand on anyone else regarding it’s availability, reception or perception.” It turns out iTunes users have the upper hand. The Raconteurs also stated that they “prefer that fans buy the album as a whole instead of breaking up the tracks, but until iTunes and other digital services allows bands to release their albums with the option of NOT breaking it up, it will be sold in that fashion on those particular sites.” UPDATE: That was fast. iTunes has pulled the new Raconteurs album from purchase. People late to the game are now greeted with a “No Longer Available” message (screencap after the jump). Thankfully, Tuesday is four days away.
  8. Well barring a leak (which I think I would abstain from should one come out) we won't get a taste until the whole album is out. I'm actually kind of happy it'll be this way. It'll be the first time in a long time that I get to hear a new album without any sampler going in.
  9. I was days shy of my 18th birthday and has just graduated high school. That said it seems like that album came out yesterday.
  10. I read this earlier on rollingstone.com and this is exciting news indeed. I much prefer the White Stripes to the Raconteurs, but the last album was very good and this one could very well be good as well. It's amazing how Jack White keeps chugging along.
  11. The Dirtbombs in a nice small venue in a college town. Great concert.
  12. Is that why she's an ex-sister-in-law?
  13. I wish I had been around when tickets were that cheap.
  14. They do post music/videos, although that just started recently. They've been posting videos of a charity gig Pete and Roger did which is very good. Not $50 good though.
  15. They've opened with I Can't Explain and followed it up with The Seeker and Anyway Anyhow Anywhere for some time now.
  16. He's just manufacturing the sound in his head. While I think your accusation of racism is off, I agree with you on the rest. There seems to be just as many struggling and unsuccessful hip hop artists as there are rock artists, and similarly they are developing their own history and nostalgia.
  17. How the times have changed. I paid over 17 times that amount to see them last year, and while it was a great show, they didn't play substitute...
  18. Tommy wasn't released until May 23, 1969.
  19. Then you are the only one. Don't be a rap enabler? While rap will neither succeed to fail depending on what I do, I don't think there's a problem with it existing. If I'm an enabler, fine. What I don't like is how people like you try to claim any new form of music, in this case rap, is just a form of making money. It's no more money making than the music of the sixties that you enjoy. I doubt it, since I think he was referring mostly to British music, which I don't believe has too much rap in it.
  20. Your fooling yourself if you think that the Rolling Stones are putting hip-hop in their music to cash in on the rap-audience. I doubt anyone who isn't already listening to the Stones was brought into them by A Bigger Bang due to any "rap" within it. Also, I don't hear any rap/hip hop in that song, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
  21. I have tried on many occasions to develop a taste for rap, and every time I come back with the same feeling, which is boredom. I absolutely find nothing redeeming about the music, which I'm sure is how you feel Midnight Rambler. HOWEVER! That by no means makes rap nothing more than a business or "moneymaker" as you put it, nor does it mean that rap is not an art form. I don't think anyone is close minded because they don't like rap, but if you refuse to accept it as a valid form of music, then perhaps you really are close minded, just the same way someone would be close minded for telling you that not liking rap makes you close minded.
  22. He posted more regularly before and it was for free, but part of the reason is due to the fact he's writing the songs for the next who album.
  23. There are some nice perks with the site, but as of yet I haven't gotten my return on the $50 dollars. The CD is nothing new, as I also had most of it on bootleg, and while the forum is very good and active, it's over censored by the moderator and frankly I don't think that should cost money to go on. I'm about 40/60 in favor of not renewing my subscription when it comes up.
