Here in The Hague it's gray and it's quite cold......

My next gig will be the young bluesrockers of TheWolff. They may still be young, but they are very talented and their live performances really create a certain energy.....
(Much like Led Zep did in their very early days, like 1969 or 1970.... ). I will see them play "De Melkweg", in Amsterdam on december 27th.
Shoud be fun!

I think this is one of the most "artistic" photos of a rock guitarist.
Thanks for posting this one. Now this is simply gorgeous.........

I do not always visit this topic, but when I do, I read about people loosing loved ones.
I wish those who lost a loved all the strength they need..........
Off course, I wish everyone who is is not going through the best of times all the strength and positivity to make
things better.
Everyone, take care,

Is this the poet referenced in today's OTD? Jimmy goes public with his lady friend...sort of, possibly...
I did a google search on the mentioned poet, the lady in this picture could surely be her.......

All these pictures of him wearing various jackets with scarves, and gaps in his teeth, are from the A.R.M.S. tour. He was in terrible shape. The youtube videos from some of these shows are painful to watch.
I also saw those YouTube videos from the ARMS performance, they are indeed painful to watch......
I think today, we can only be glad Jimmy cleaned up. Nowadays, at 70 years old, he actually really does look healthy and happy.

The Hague is the host of the largest free music festival in Europe, Parkpop.
It's not the largest, but it's the largest FREE one. Saw many big as well as "Not so big" names there, always a great festival with a great vibe.

An old add that I came across.K2rVUHp.jpeg
OK. Me too...., I also never really associated Jimmy with using a synthesizer.
I only knew about him having used a Roland guitar-synthesizer.......

Anyone remember Adrian Vanderberg playing with Whitesnake?
He has a new band called Vanderbergs Moonkings. Their debut album is good!
I guess I'll give them their own topic.

Like this He definately has a fey, 'not quite of this world' look about him at times!
Fallen angel perhaps?
Yup, at times he definately can have a certain "Angelic" look about him. A fallen one maybe...., but still............

Good morning ladies,
Hope you had a great weekend.
I thought I'd post a few, just to start off the week.
Enjoy!

Larry Badgely and Conrad Murrey must be from the same med school......Jimmy was lucky he did'nt get the same 'bedtime milk' that Michael Jackson got from his doc.
Yikes....., reading this topic also had me thinking something along the same lines.............
Seems Jimmy was indeed lucky, with the kind of medical care (or well...., the lack of it.....) he received.
You know folks, I personally have never done drugs (I am too much of a control freak I guess, I like to stay in control of my own actions...) and I only occasionally drink.
I love Jimmy to bits as a talented musician and producer and I do somehow feel there also was a good and interesting side to Jimmy (we never are all bad right?). I always feel that the drug use and all that was such a waste of all his talent, I feel if he didn't indulge in that kind of a crazy lifestyle he could have made more and better use of his talent and musical skills......... I simply feel Jimmy was an interesting (and likely still is) person, if only he wasn't on his way to his own distruction.......
I'm glad he eventually cleaned up, he seems to be doing well now.

I think I am going with the black en white theme today (just love b&w pictures...).
Picking a fav. picture of Jimmy on stage was a hard one, as there so many good ones.
I like b&w photos and I thought it would need to include a trademark concert-moment.
That's how I came up with this one from the earlier Led Zep days, of Jimmy doing one of his bow-solos.

I had a "favourite live pics" folder all ready-made.
I bet Jimmy really enjoyed the whole process. Hell, I would, if I used to look like that. Wouldn't it be a dream job though? When I was ill and bedbound I spent more hours than I'd like to count collecting and categorizing Zep pics - like it mattered, like I was getting paid for it - and time just flew. I'd love to be a picture editor.
I was trying to decide which is the best ever Jimmy-on-stage pic - the one they should use on his obituary. I reckon this one (I think it'd have to involve a dragon suit and the double neck...). The original guitar god in full flight:
What would everyone else pick as the "definitive" Jimmy shot?
If I was choosing from offstage pics I'd go for
or
Ineed, very nice choices. Love that all of them are black and white.

I'm sure many of you have seen this before, but to me it's still great.
I know, the overall quality of the video is just bad, but Jimmy's accoustic performance is incredible..............

Couldn't get this link to work (on my mobile - no surprise!) so went for a wander in utube to hear some of their music. They are talented - like their bluesy feel. Prefer their simpler tracks without too much organ. Will keep an eye out for them touring here. Thanks Maaike
Sorry you couldn't open the youtube clip.......
Actually, they already have done s short tour of Australia, together with Wolfmother. Who knows, maybe they'll come back to Australia........
Their touring schedule is on their website: www.dewolff.nu
Anyway, I'm glad to hear you like them. Good music still is out there these days, but you really have to seek it out.

The photo shown on this post is the first one of Jimmy Page that I saw when I was eight years old back in the early 70s. I was digging in my oldest brother's guitar case when I found the sheet music to Stairway with the four band members photos on the front cover. Even at that age, I was smitten by his looks and then found out about their music from my brother. Now that I am an old lady, I am still smitten by his looks, but I also appreciate his musical skill. As for whether his looks affected his career, I would say that it may have been a two edged sword. His androgynous features would have been attractive to both men and women (in a perfectly normal sense), but at the same time the tough look and manner of Peter Grant I think was needed for the Zeppelin to really get off the ground and be taken seriously in a music world that was so business and mafia dominated at that time. Just as a side note, I think Grant took to Jimmy because he found out early on that under Jimmy's gentle exterior, there was a very stong willed and tough personality and musical intellect that was very different than most other artists of the time. I think Grant appreciated this but maybe felt that things could happen more readly if the business world had to deal with Grant's monsterous size and character first.
With or without his music, if I where to have seen him in an ordinary setting when he was at his prime, he most certainly would have made my head turn.
Yellowrose, welcome! I too love the pictures you posted, thank you for those. Plus, you added some interesting points to our discussion.
There often is this idea that a man with fine features, like Jimmy, couldn't really be a "man's man".
Well, I think us ladies know all too well, that in his prime Jimmy was quite the womanizer.......
Oh and I am quite sure that even now that he is older, he still is regarded to quite a charming man.
Ladies, you know what stayed in my mind somehow? I was just flipping through the pages of this topic
When I came across a picture of Jimmy in his Yardbird days, wearing a ruffled shirt and a sort of baroque-looking jacket.
With this picture, it was mentioned how Jeff Beck recalled Jimmy talking about Marquis de Sade. Well...., I think that says something about
Jimmy even back then already being quite the naughty boy.......

If I have one recommendation, it's DeWolff.
DeWolff is a dutch bluesrock/retro-rock trio (guitar/vocals, hammond organ and drums), for me they are proof that the rock music we all love is still very much alive.
Their music will remind you of Deep Purple, Allman Brothers Band and also a bit of Led Zep & The Doors.
I've seen them live quite a few times and these talented young rockers really put on a good show!
Check out their gig in Eindhoven, The Netherlands (from early 2014):

Everyone, I hope you all really had a fantastic Christmas! Mine was good, it was traditional with a family dinner and exchanging gifts.
No, my gift was not Led Zep related. I received a Kneipp-set (including shower gel, body scrub and body cream).
