    Jason Bonham.

The man who filled in at the 02 and the Kennedy Honours gig.

The man who is the son of the greatest there ever was and taught from a young age by the greatest.

    And THIS guy on guitar???

I swear Neil, If I was over there, I would drag you kicking and screaming......

I doubt they will be back here. And that's that rub. This is probably THE time to see Jason and Mr Jimmy perform.

At the end of the day, i will be VERY surprised that if on my way home, I am disappointed rather than completely satisfied.

Haha you make a good point Rod, but I ain’t for turning!

yeah, but if you don't, will you regret it?

cmon mate, make like Nike and just do it! :chickeddance:

I saw the Led Zeppelin Experience in a pub last weekend. They were great and the guitarist in particular was superb. $45. I paid $170 to see Cat Stevens during the week. To me, $130 is a complete rip off to see a tribute band. I doubt I will regret it mate

England all out in their second innings.

Australia need 169 runs to win in four sessions. Smith playing for a draw? Never.

Fourth highest run chase target in the history of the GABBA. I reckon it’s easily achievable though. Pissed off though that the English bowlers have to try and pull the batsmen out of a hole again.

I just got back from seeing their tour opening show at the Sands in Bethlehem, PA - they opened their last tour there almost a year ago to the day, and Jason has already promised to be back again next year (both last year and this year were sold out and very raucous). Apparently, his sister lives close to Bethlehem, PA, or so he said at both shows. :)

Well, last year's show was very, very good - it was so good that, if we had gotten basically the same show with the same players, I would have been completely satisfied. However, this year, the guitarist didn't look quite like how I remembered him - they were close in appearance, but also clearly not the same person.

To my great joy and surprise, the "Jimmy Page" of JBLZE on this tour is...Jimmy Sakurai, best known from Led Zepagain and Mr. Jimmy. Well, let me say right here that Mr. Sakurai is Mr. Page's virtual doppelganger, both in appearance and in playing. When I first saw the sample videos for Led Zepagain and Mr. Jimmy, I was really hoping they would come to the East Coast so that I could hear him play - having him with JBLZE was more than I could have hoped for.

Well, the show was simply stellar. The songs played were (not in order - all apologies):

    Good Times, Bad Times

Black Mountain Side (with a snippet of "White Summer" as an intro), going straight into Kashmir (an awesome version of it)

    Whole Lotta Love (first encore)

What Is And What Should Never Be

    Thank You

    Immigrant Song (show opener)

Since I've Been Loving You (the song that convinced Jason that Jimmy (Sakurai) would fit with the band - this version was awe-inspiring as well)

Rock And Roll (second encore/show closer)

    Stairway To Heaven (stellar)

Misty Mountain Hop (this absolutely smoked as well)

The Song Remains The Same (awesome)

Over The Hills And Far Away

    No Quarter (spellbinding)

    The Ocean

    Trampled Underfoot (smokin')

    the aforementioned Kashmir

Down By The Seaside (yes, really - Jason said that this song is one of his personal favorites, and this was the first time they had played it live, despite his playing it privately and in soundchecks all the time)

    Ten Years Gone (not kidding)

The Wanton Song (also not kidding)

If you would like to take in a tribute show of our band, I heartily recommend this one. I will see them every time they come around. :)

You may just have convinced me to check them out in Perth, Australia

No free to air at all. Nothing. Of course the radio has commentary but no visuals. Honours even at the moment 159 for 3. Not sure about our bowling Reggie?? I think we look pretty strong but we will see how we use the Kookaburra.

    Come on England

SamoKodela, it's gone and it ain't coming back. Shave it off and keep it clean shaven, I don't think you will regret it.

I’m 42. All was good till I had kids at the age of 35 and 37. Onset of hair loss. I shave it. No regrets here!

Me neither, I love Led Zeppelin but the idea of spending hours & hours listening to audience recordings of them sounds pretty grim to me. I think I bought about two bootlegs at record fares before I gave up & I stick with the official stuff & the odd soundboard these days.

I absolutely love HTWWW & have done since the day it came out.

There’s some good ones out there. FWIW, these are the ones I listen to:

    Montreaux ‘70

    Blueberry Hill ‘70

    Seattle ‘73

    LA Forum Millard tapes ‘77

    Copenhagen ‘79

Aside from these I only listen to SBDs

  8. Saw them in 91 at the Donington Monsters of Rock. I’m not a huge fan of theirs, but what an eye opener for a 16 year old kid. They were absolutely amazing live. A significant portion of the crowd buggered off after they left the stage and didn’t stick around for the headliners (AC/DC). The Black Crowes opened the show and they were brilliant as well (I’d never heard of them). Queensryche played and they were pretty good too. Motley Crüe were the other band - they sucked!

To each his own, I guess, but if you can't realize that David Coverdale has a great voice, then I don't know what's wrong with you. I think it sounds great and a lot of other people share my opinion.

He lacks subtlety. Totally over the top. Just my opinion. If you like him, good for you. Totally respect that

  10. 2 hours ago, Dr Death said:

For those interested, here's Coverdale/Page live in Japan doing Kashmir. David really did a great job on all the Zeppelin covers, much better than Plant trying to sing Shake My Tree. I've heard countless versions of Plant trying to sing that, and he comes off as being totally unable to, maybe he didn't like singing a song co-written by David Coverdale, but this was also a Jimmy Page song and deserved much more respect than Plant gave it.

Beg to differ. Sounds friggin awful

I'm much better versed on the audio than the video. Some recommendations for audio:

    1. 1995 04 01 Auburn Hills (Detroit) - great-sounding multitrack mixdown exists of about five of the songs from this show
    2. 1995 05 19/20 Oakland/San Jose - very nice 1995 performances. 5 19 is thought to be a slightly better performance and exists in a fantastic sounding audience recording. 5 20 exists in a similarly good-sounding AUD, as well as a mono soundboard - but by far the best is a Westwood One source for an FM broadcast. Only covers 11 of the songs, but by far the best-sounding, fantastic
    3. 1995 06 25 Glastonbury - a shorter, festival set, but sounds great, and kicks ass. Either a professional mix or a soundboard, I forget which. The best-sounding version I've heard is from a DVD that includes video.
    4. 1995 09 29 Albuquerque/10 03 Irvine Meadows - Two great shows in the Western US. I think many fans prefer 9 29, but I favor 10 03, partially because of the sound.
    5. 1996 02 13, 15 and 17 Japan - Fantastic Japan run, these are the three shows that exist in SBD quality. These shows include the aforementioned Tea for One performance, as well as a stupendous version of The Rain Song. My favorite is the final show on the 17th, but all three are great. They are available in excellent, though very slightly dry, soundboard quality - but my favorites are fan-made soundboard-audience matrix versions. You can't go wrong with these three dates in virtually any format.
    6. 1998 03 25 Shepherd's Bush Empire (London) - opening show of the 1998 tour. Most folks feel the later shows on this tour are better, and it's true that Page was in his best form since 1973 during the later '98 shows. But this one is still great IMHO, and available in very good sound quality. In fact, three tracks are available in full official-release quality on the Japanese CD max-single of "Shining in the Light." The sound quality is phenemonal.
    7. 1998 03 30 Paris - an FM radio source of a very energetic show. Source is a bit compressed (because it's an off the air recording and FM stations always use compressors), but IMHO well worth it.
    8. 1998 08 23 Cologne - a festival performance but pretty much a full-length set. Also available in video. Great sounding soundboard - not official release quality but close. Fantastic performance - this is the show most folks point to when they argue that late 1998 saw Page playing his best guitar in 25 years.
    9. 1998 09 23 Las Vegas - I would rank this just below Cologne in performance and sound quality, but still excellent.
    10. 1998 10 01 New Orleans - I can't remember if this is an FM broadcast recording or a pre-FM soundboard. But it's a great, and somewhat overlooked, show. There are a couple of versions of this (based on different FM recordings I guess), and some are much duller sounding than others. The best-sounding one is very good indeed.
    11. 1998 12 10 Paris - a very brief set as part of an Amnesty International benefit show, and P & P's last show. There's an official DVD, and the soundtrack is excellent sonically. I think their mini-set from this show is great.

    If I had to pick the top one from each year, I guess I'd choose 1995 10 03 Irvine Meadows; 1996 02 17 Japan; and 1998 8 23 Cologne.

    Hope this helps!

Hi mate, i have just got Liriodendron's matrix of 13/2/96. If you can point me in the direction of the others, or even PM me with a link to a file i'd really appreciate it.....especially the show with the acoustic version of the RS that would be awesome.

Just heard Tea for One from 13/2/96. Mesmerising

I never really got into Page/Plant stuff tbh, but I listened to the Las Vegas '98 show last night and holy hell it smokes. No Quarter is truly outstanding.

You think that's good, check out the NQ from Rockapalast Bizarre festival in Cologne. It is amazing. One of jimmys best ever performances

    Could be.

I cannot stand Wenger. I am using my head here. Nothing gives me greater pleasure, apart from a fat joint of my green, than seeing Wenger moan about the ref or the assistant ref and seeing his side get beat. " So what did you reckon Arsen about the red card for your man shooting the Chelsea player?" "eerrrrrr I didn't see anything in it........................." Contd p94

Must have been a great Night in Istanbul man? I didn't watch the game at the time but heard about it obviously. In fact I don't think I've ever seen the match :o

I don't bet myself but please don't waste a crisp bill on my selections. But if you do and win, then I will PM my bank details for a wodge of greenbacks to be transferred over or you can buy a couple of packages for me and Mrs CP to be there for the Perth Ashes test!;)

Yeah mate, Istanbul was great. Great few days away with my cousin and a mate.

My mum and dad arrive for a month on the 17th nov. on the 18th nov I go to see the Led Zeppelin experience with my dad. 22nd Nov I'm taking my mum to see Cat Stevens for her birthday. Me, my mates and Dad are going to see the first two days of the Perth ashes test match before they go home.

    Shouldbe a good month.

I bet on your suggestions for Huddersfield, West Brom, Newcastle, Chelsea and spurs. Did a multi bet - odds of 166 to 1. $10. If they come in I'll send you some beers!

It's far too complicated to explain. Basically, excluding the Premier League, top 2 teams are promoted to the higher leagues and the next 4 teams are in a play off. There are 3 leagues and one non league league. The non league sides only 1 are promoted. Bottom 2 or 3 sides are relegated to lower leagues. Simple

After the Euro leagues it's back to normal this weekend. We are entertaining Everton who have the fat boy and serial drink driver Rooney in their side. He will get a good reception at Old Trafford but expect songs relating to his liking to "play away"

For what it's worth here are my predictions for this weekend:

    Huddersfield v Leicester. Home win

    Liverpool v Burnley. Home win

    Newcastle v Stoke. Draw

Watford v Man City. Away win

West Brom v West Ham. Draw

    Tottenham v Swansea. Home win

    Chelsea v Arsenal. Draw

Manchester United v Everton. Home win

....good selection but I have my doubts about the Chelsea aresenal game - think it might be a home win

Just to show I'm a good sport (even with utd supporters), I'm going to put my money where your mouth is and put $20 (I'm in Australia) on these selections. I'll let you know the odds I get mate
