  1. For my high school class and many old friends, it was all about the Grateful Dead. Back then, I scorned them, because very few people I hung with played or spoke about Zep. But with that in the past, I very much enjoy listening to an extensive Dead record collection (left to me by a friend who went cuckoo), and the numerous Dead tribute bands that play at the dockside bars locally. It's very danceable, and their take on Americana type songs is second to none.

  2. Wow - Chris Squire gone, not long after Jack Bruce. These two men brought such innovation and power to their instruments, while still maintaining their roles in groups that enjoyed popularity. Not easy for bassists.

  3. ^ Sad to hear, and I relate to your thoughts on this, Strider. But schools are not responsible for teaching kids to be thoughtful of their parents. It sounds like Charles provides well for his family, and treats them to hobbies and excursions that many of us never had. Yet, a homemade card or simple offer to do something nice, would be priceless in this case.

  4. ^ Four steps a straight, and then to me left

And right to the place where I marked it

With a bonnie, bonnie bone, that I'll bury for my own

In the bonnie, bonnie bank in her backyard...

  5. ^ Just saw in today' paper, a show announced at a local theatre for Barbara Eden. Not sure what she does in it? I think she's about 80 and still puts on the Jeannie outfit in public.

  6. This InBev conglomerate has bought up so many of the famous imports to the U.S., and now seems determined to get it's hands on any craft beer companies that sell. It recently acquired Blue Point Brewing on Long Island, and some people that used to enjoy their offerings are already saying they notice the changes in quality. I won't buy Becks, St Pauli Girl, Lowenbrau anymore - even though they are sometimes on very low sale prices. I haven't noticed much change in my favorite brand from Munich - Spaten, but fear for the inevitable...

  7. One thing that Page mentioned that I'm not sure was mentioned here was Jimmy's perceived or actual almost ESP connection with

Bonzo live, with the other band members as well. They were close but not nearly as close socially wise as many would suspect.

But Jimmy also said besides a new drummer matching Bonzo's overall prowess, a tremendous problem in itself, the new drummer

would have to improvise brilliantly during songs at certain parts, something Jimmy said would put totally unreasonable pressure

on the best of drummers.. So IMO the breakup wasn't 100% social as some would believe, although certainly it was very important.

I don't remember anyone here ever pondering an all acoustic reunion and tour, with no drummer? Take the need for the drummer's prowess and insult the Bonham's legacy out of the picture. They have enough material, and could do unplugged versions of their other songs. It would satisfy the mellower Plant, Jones certainly could still carry it, and Page wouldn't be pressured to solo. What fans would complain or not want to see it?

  8. Interesting about Geddy Lee switching over to a Fender Jazz type bass, and having that as his signature model. I enjoy this group's talents very much, but haven't watched much videos of them. Kinda thought the Rickenbacker was his main choice, and was an element in his very awesome sound?

  9. In post #11087, it looks like Jimmy is playing a left handed guitar (with the bow). Don't remember this being brought up, normally I don't notice these sort of things?
