  1. Well, many people said 'Great music, shit person' about Chuck. But don't get me wrong, he's probably my favorite person in rock music, he changed my life, if I didn't listen to Johnny B Goode a few years ago, now I would probably not even heard of some of my favorite bands. Chuck Berry made me play the guitar. I would probably listen to hip-hop and R&B now if it wasn't for him.

There's also the possibility that Brian was just joking, he has some sense of humor...

I'm sure it was not meant to be offensive but sometimes things get taken the wrong way.

Many years ago Chuck played The Hordern pavilion in Sydney and a few people jumped on the stage myself and a friend of mine included.

Anyway the security guys tried to get us off the stage and Chuck told them in no uncertain terms to let the kids dance within a few minutes the stage was almost full!.

We all boogied along with him doing the duckwalk in unison and whatever for about an hour.

Then we all sang along to Johnny B Goode.

So yeah he had an influence on me too.

  2. OMGoodness, do you accept HUGE virtual hugs?

    That was too funny.

Actually, considering the joke, this would be more appropo :chickeddance:

    Back at ya!

George Bush has a heart attack and dies.

He goes to hell, where the Devil is waiting for him.

'I'm not sure what to do,' says the Devil.

'You're on my list, but I have no room for you.

As you definitely have to stay here, I'm going to have to let someone else go.

I've got three folks here who weren't quite as bad as you.

I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their

    place.

I'll even let you decide who leaves.'

George thought that sounded pretty good, so he agreed.

The Devil opened the first room.

In it were Richard Nixon and a large pool of hot water.

He kept diving in and climbing out, over and over.

Such was his fate in hell.

    'No!' said George.

'I don't think so, I'm not a good swimmer and don't think I could stay in hot water all day.'

The Devil led him to the next room.

In it was Tony Blair with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks.

All he did was swing the hammer, time after time.

No! I've got this problem with my shoulder.

I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day.' commented George.

The Devil opened the third door. In it, George saw Bill Clinton lying on the floor with his arms staked over his head, and his legs staked in a spread-eagle pose.

Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she does best.

George Bush looked at this in disbelief for a while, and finally said 'Yeah, I can handle this.'

The Devil smiled and said, 'OK, Monica, you're free to go!'

  3. Sure was a hard one to pick because all the songs stand out on their own.

I went for TRS just in front of NQ.

IMHO their most diverse album in terms of musical styles, the only thing missing was a blues song and perhaps a pure acoustic piece.

I've always thought of Physical Graffiti as an extension of Houses Of The Holy.

As we all know the song HOTH appears on PG, so in effect it could be considered a companion album.

I'm almost certain Walters Walk from Coda was recorded during the Stargroves HOTH sessions too.

  4. a while back i was driving and noticed the car in front had the number plate JP. and yesterday, i was following one with ZEP.... hmmmm i want that plate!!

    Funny you should say that.

There was a bloke driving around my hometown with the plate ZEPIII and other Zep stickers on his rear window a few years ago.

He visited my next door neighbour regularly at the time and it was interesting when my front door was open and we were both playing Zep (hardly ever the same song) at the same time.

  5. We have a weekend television show called Wide World Of Sports.

I remember watching a montage of surfing video and Ramble On was played uninterupted in its entirety.

Colour tv had only recently commenced transmission and those images of massive wave riding in Australia, Bali, Hawaii, South Africa, Tahiti and the USA by the best surfers in the world of the day and the choice of theme by the world's best band was a perfect fit.

Led Zeppelin truly is the music of the world.

  6. on the TV series Supernatural some episodes were named after Led Zeppelin songs like "in my time of dying" and "what is and what should never be" and one of the characters is a big fan of Zeppelin and constantly saying "Led Zeppelin rulez"!

in one episode this character and his brother pretended to be detectives called Page and Plant...

Yeah the second season also had an episode called Houses of the Holy.
