  1. Sunny and warm at the moment.

We had a very mild summer with lots of rain and storms.

My house and car got hammered by hailstones just before Christmas.

It was literally raining hockey pucks!

Have you had unusual weather patterns or other phenomena recently?

  2. I remember AC/DC when they played at a small club in Sydney called Chequers.

They were the house band every Saturday night for months in 1974 - 75 before they were "discovered".

My good mate Mark and I would travel the 20 miles every week to check them out.

AC/DC went on to play the other "big venues" like The Bondi Lifesaver, The Stagedoor & Selinas etc.

One night the Lifesaver there was a band called Rose Tattoo playing featuring Pete Wells on slide guitar.

Pete was formerly the bass player for another good band called Buffalo.

Sadly, Pete passed away last year after battling prostate cancer.

Anyway midway through the set Angus & Bon joined in they all played some of the best "old" rock and roll since Zep.

That was in 1976 and I haven't seen them live again even to this day, they have played a couple of times since but there always seemed to be something else to do.

    May be next time.

To me they were an ok band, but hardly legendary and better suited to small venues.

Mainly because they never mixed it up and played other styles.

IMHO they never really reached their potential.

I've watched the DVD's and witnessed all the stage effects but nothing new that hasn't been done before.

As someone pointed out earlier, Bon went the same way as Bonzo did.

    Death by misadventure.

  3. Finally got to check out The Led Zeppelin World Tour photograph exhibition of the Sydney 72 concert.

    It closes on Sunday 2/3/08.

Over 100 pics some as big as a 9 foot wall and others poster size along with other artwork.

Some amazing sculptures as well, in particular the four symbols a foot high set upon a wall and the runes cut out of 4 individual boxes and illuminated.

Couldn't take any of my own photos though, unfortunately.

Well worth the 6 bucks admission.

Oh and I bought the t shirt and a limited edition poster of Jimmy.

    It was for charity.

    Check out RockPhotoAid.com.

  4. jimmy for sure. i never thought "technical" playing was all that impressive. anyone can learn to play really fast if they try hard enough. all these guitar players that i hear being labeled "technical" players really seem to do is play really fast and loud, where's the sense in that? wow, you can play really fast, can you play something melodic? something that makes sense? something that sounds different than every solo you've ever done? technical can be impressive and all, but without emotion it's just a kid with a guitar who thinks he can play music.

    Well said.

  5. The Rain Song...it has special meaning. And for the line "speak to me only with your eyes.."

I chose The Rain Song because as a guitarist I love the tuning, the keyboards and the lyrics.

You could pick any song off HOTH and it wouldn't be out of place as a favourite, even The Crunge, "where's that confounded bridge".

There is another drawing in The School of Rock Magazines Led Zeppelin edition Fall 06
