  1. I highly recomend checking out The Almighty Defenders. It's a band consisting of members from Black Lips and King Kahn & BBQ Show. Their music is a blend of doo wop, garage rock and gospel. A great live act too, if I may say so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnDY6UgN4hE
  2. Grooveshark sounds similiar to Spotify then..?
  3. Spotify is a channel where you can find loads of music and stream whole albums. Almost every artist who ever had an official release is featured there, not counting bands like Metallica, U2 and a couple of other giants that has refused to be available there (but who cares about them anyway). You can choose to sign in for free and have commercial every 20 to 30 minutes or have premium and pay an amount every month without commercial breaks.
  4. I have never really checked out music at rateyourmusic.. I might have to do that.. I have recently signed up for Spotify, which also is a great source for music.
  5. That's cool. Few bands have that impact.
  6. ^^ Good stuff Jahfin, sounds like the crowd loves what they hear LOL.
  7. Six ass kickin' 50's and 60's 45's! Money well spent: Little Walter - Last Night / Mellow Down Easy (Checker 1954) I've got this fab 45 but I just had to upgrade it to a better copy. Mellow Down Easy ROCKS!!! Black Crowes and Jimmy Page did a nice cover of it on their live collaboration. Lee Rogers - You're The Cream of The Crop / Somebody Else Will (D-Town 1965) Great bluesy r'n'b, will do magic on the dancefloor!! The Shoelaces - Ball And Chain / Work Song (Brite Leaf 1963) I don't know shit about this group and release, but it's frickin' great! Both sides!! Lonnie Russ - Tell Me How / Flip Flop (4J 1963) Lonnie released another 45 called My Wife Can't Cook which is quite popular among collectors. This one is a great dancer too! The Volumes - Monkey Hop / Why (Old Town 1964) I've seen this single go for $150 but I got it for nothing in compare to that. Monkey Hop is great early r'n'b which is top notch for the dancefloor. Why is classic doo wop. Johnny Talbot - Never Make Your Baby Cry Pt 1 / Never Make Your Baby Cry Pt 2 (Modern 1965) Great swingin' r'n'b from Oakland!!
  8. I've got the deluxe edition too, it's a nice two disc album and the live stuff is great. Who's Next is the album that made them go from big to HUGE in the US.
  9. I want to go home and play records instead of work.

I feel the same way too! I want to listen to records all day instead of preparing for my stupid mid-terms! :/ *Sigh!

      LOL Yes, it's a bummer...

  10. Lookie here, this is rare footage by The Who in their Mod days, even before they called themselves The Who.. Here's The High Numbers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hflF6YCsqbs&
  11. I'm not stupid, I know it is a classic. I like Who's Next, but that's when they started to sound like 70's arena rock and the rock opera thing has never appealed to me. Their first three albums were frickin' groundbreaking. Those albums and singles made every fuckin teenager in Europe and USA want to start a band and be rockstars. That was way ahead of Who's Next. Most people I know, which are Mods and fans of 60's r'n'b and soul, prefer the albums I mentioned over those you are speaking of. Just because millions of flies eat shit, it doesn't mean I'll have to do it, right?!
  12. Those are fine too. But I prefer the older stuff, when they were a sharp dressed mod band with high quality pop/rock songs with an attitude.
  13. Who's Next is a good album, but I prefer My Generation, Sellout and A Quick One.
  14. They kind of reminds me a little of Glasvegas.. Don't know if you've heard them.. Although Glasvegas songs are more simple in their construction.
  15. John Belushi impersonating Joe Cocker in SNL, and the man can sing too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHaA4RePosY
  16. Neither do I.. Sure, if I come across a funny tune, then I laugh of course. Like the "F**k you!"-song posted in "Rate the song above you"-thread. BTW, that PF cover was kinda good I think. LOL
  17. Rock'n'roll is on my mind all the time

Yep! Its on my mind too throughout the day to be very precise! :) And as an old wise man once said : "God Bless Rock 'n' Roll!". :)

  18. Went to my favourite second hand vinyl store in Stockholm today, picked these excellent albums up: Gene Parsons - Kindling (1973) Guest musicians like Clarence White, Ralph Stanley, Vassar Clements, Bill Payne & Andy Newmark. How cool is that?! Jimmy Buffett - A1A (1974) Nice album and a great addition to my next to none existing collection of Jimmy Buffett. New Riders Of The Purple Sage - Brujo (1974) Skip Battin and Co's fifth album. Good stuff! Delaney & Bonnie - Home (1969) Great set of blue-eyed soul songs with Leon Russell and Carl Radle among others. The Dillards - Tribute To The American Duck (1973) Great bluegrass and rock fusion. With John Hartford among others.
  19. It's indeed a fine album. I really like it. You have made a fine purchase yourself too, Heartworn Highway is a real gem! New purchases, a couple of rare 45's: Carol Fran - / Crying in the chapel (Port 1964) Just amazing. I love the beat and that dark moody brass. And let's not forget about the piano!! Top 45! The "5" Royales - Dedicated to the one I love / Don't be ashamed (King 1958) While I love the A-side, it was really the B-side that made me want to purchase this 45. This is a blend of raw blues, r'n'b and doowop!! I love it! Too bad I couldn't find the B-side on youtube. Bill Parker and Band/Blues Boy Palmer - Sweet potato cha cha (Bill Parker) / My life for your love (Blues Boy Palmer) (Hollywood 1959) Rare blues 45. Big Jack Reynolds and His Blues Men - You won't treat me right / (Hi-Q 1963) Awesome r'n'b blues mover!! The Dawnbreakers - Alligator / The Bounce (Trophy International 1967) Super cool garage rocker 45 from a Louisville/Lexington, Kentucky band!! Alligator can be found on the Sixties Rebellion #14 compilation.
  20. I don't think I willl purchase The Final Frontier. However, I might buy a copy of Brave New World someday.. For now, I just go home and put on their debut.
  21. Hey KZF, thank you, you are welcome. I'm happy you like what you hear. :)

    Cheers!

  22. Was lucky enough to find Graveyard's debut album on vinyl while I was checking some records stores this weekend. I was afraid the vinyl edition would be out of stock at this time.. Graveyard - s/t (2008)
  23. These LP's have been on my want list for a long time, I finally got 'em from eBay, pretty cheap too... Allen Collins Band - Here, There & Back (1983) John Hartford - Morning Bugle (1972)
  24. I have finally got Tift Merritt's new album See You On The Moon on vinyl.
