That was cool, thanks for posting PlanetPage! I see from YouTube that the video was from Jim McCarty himself & he's got some other ones too that I will be checking out as well (I love The Yardbirds).

    ...just a little late in response...no prob's; I noticed it also when I posted it...He is very Gracious, if you ever have a chance, I hope you get to meet him...very welcoming and friendly;

on a slighlty different note, if you ever want to try a new restaurant, you may want to try the "Yardbird" in Hong Kong....Here is a menu for Restaurant Yardbird, the Hot Spot...

...Jim McCarty is also a Vegetarian if so interested, few photos of him in support of this...

...just for fun with the Yardbirds...my fav's too...

  5. After a bit of research I think I've nailed it down to October 31 1968.

Jeff Beck played a benefit gig for the children in Biafra at the Fillmore East on the 31 October 1968. I believe PG was managing the JBG at the time? Regardless, Jimmy and Jeff were old mates who probably wanted to catch up (I wonder if it was this occasion that Beck first heard LZ1 and their version of 'You Shook Me'??)

And the 'mystery man' in the middle I believe is Steve Weiss, Led Zeppelin's US attorney.

Also if you look at the official timeline, there is a gap inbetween gigs from October 25 to November 9, 1968, hence Jimmy's presence.

....another report from Billboard Magazine archive Edition dated November 30, 1968......

another Link of Led Zeppelin Signing....

Atlantic had given away a small chunk of the farm to Led Zeppelin. Peter Grant went back to the Plaza Hotel and called Jimmy to come to New York to sign the deal.

Then, perhaps with joy in their hearts, Grant and Weiss called on Clive Davis, then president of Columbia Records, whose Epic subsidiary had the rights for the Yardbirds (and Jeff Beck) in America. Jimmy of course felt that Epic was an inept and exploitative label, while Clive Davis had considered the Yardbirds one of his pet projects and was confident that Jimmy Page's new band - the word on the street was they were hot - would be on Epic. It was the first time Peter and Clive Davis had met, and they talked friendly music gossip until Davis finally said, "Well, aren't we going to talk about Jimmy Page?" And Grant said, "Oh no, we've already signed the Zeppelin to Atlantic."

...apologies as this information is perhaps known already to the experts already....

  7. Your Shankar posts are interesting but this was probably a year or more after the Shankar gig Jimmy attended, which presumably was in or around London.

...yes, it was bit doubtful, but these years are also the "art school Years", I think....

The Asian Music Circle in London in that era promoted R. Shankar's "Musical Performances" (previously he was a Stage Artist)....most noteable bookings at the Royal Festival Hall beginning in '58....I will have closer look at year of '61 and '62, as '60 appears to be bit before Pagey's time...

  8. I'm familiar with his connection to Kellerman, but have not seen that document until now. It's going to take me some time to figure it out. The quick answer to your main

  10. Are these from the boston tea party shows in 69?

...Could this photo be of Lynn Collins - Steven Tyler's companion who left him to accompany Page after the Boston Tea Party?

...From my search "Lynn Collins" has been discussed somewhat steadily, by no photo so far, perhaps Lynn Collins has "finally" made her way to Zep Timeline?

  11. You're welcome, PlanetPage...and thanks again for this interesting thread. I found the video of Mike Quashie very touching and warm too. It was so lovely to hear about Mike's chance meeting and reunion with his dancer.

Thanks for the article about Jimmy donating a guitar for Mike - I think that was a wonderful thing for him to do...Jimmy has made other similar generous gestures but as he's very quiet about them, we rarely hear about them.

...very welcome MSG; - here is another video of Mike Quashie - similar to the one your posted earlier (I think the link is gone in your original post) - here in this video

Mike Quashie/Report talk about Led Zeppelin and others...

  12. ....Thank You Sam, Walter Walker, AEN27, and MSG for such wonderful and informative (never heard before) stories.....it is truly fascinating to hear from artists who had good fortune to be around the mighty Zep...

MSG, that video about Mike Quashie is really touching and warm beyond words.....Here is an article from New York Times: Mike Quashie recalls Zeppelin days and Jimmy Page donating guitar.....
