  1. Yes, I can. :)

"Little Nightingale" was written by John Williams, who had formed a partnership with Jimmy Page in 1965 -- Williams would write songs, and Page would try to get them recorded by the artists that Jimmy sessioned with. Jimmy convinced Bobby Graham to use 2 of their songs for the 'N Betweens session ("You Don't Believe Me" being the other song).

....tried to explore Page/Williams connection, as per above...not much came up....true you confirmed, it's Page Composition/written by Williams....

    tks...

  2. Like I said, your knowledge of English is better than theirs! :D

It sounds as if Jimmy probably didn't have too much involvement in this song--there were so many in those days that sounded virtually identical, anyway.

....I do try to make my self clear....You are right, there had to be so many, for this kind of mystery....

just couple more links which lean towards "Page", but still no confirmation:

In early 1965 Bobby Graham who had played drums with Joe Brown & The Bruvvers and now a talent scout, auditioned the N'Betweens at the Le Metro Club in Birmingham. The result was a recording contract for the N'Betweens and the group travelled down to Pye Studios in London to record some songs. Well known session guitarist Jimmy Page was booked to play on the recordings but he was apparently not required although he may have appeared on the N'Betweens recording of Little Nightingale, an early composition of his. The sessions resulted in four songs by the N'Betweens being released on an EP in France but these had no impact on the record charts.

The first recording by the 'N Betweens (John Howells/ Mick Marson/Dave Hill/Dave 'Cass' Jones/Don Powell) to be made in a 'proper' studio was actually released by the French Barclay label. The group had been auditioned at the Le Metro in Birmingham. The record comprised four tracks on an EP, the tracks being Take A Heart / Feel So Fine / Little Nightingale / You Don’t Believe Me. Whilst the record was released by Barclay in France, it was actually made at the Pye studios in Britain. According to John Ogden:

  3. PlanetPage, YOUR English is great--automatic Google translations are terrible! ("Jim Lea simply destroy your bottom.") Can you translate the relevant bit for us?

    Aqua

...so sorry about this...."My limited expert knowlege".............

    Relevant Bit........

"A romance between the Group and Noddy was in the water bath. In 1965 they recorded another EP, this time for Barclay records. The Disc was released in France. They recorded this disc, among others, the song "Little Nighttingale", the Guitarist Jimmy Page, who worked in the studios of Pye in Marble Arch."

  4. Ok.

Hope this doesn't tread on anyones toes :-0

Can anyone clear up the "Little Nightingale" mysytery..recorded by The 'Nbetweens the song is supposed to be a Jimmy Page song but no one seems to able to confirm or deny it..the record label credits Williams..I think it's urban myth time again.

    NBpromo.jpg

....and you are probably referring to this....(this is what I could find)

The other track, "Little Nightingale," is a generic tune with the same approach bearing the writing credit of "Page"; an educated guess would surmise that this might be then-session man Jimmy Page, who was one of the writers of "You Don't Believe Me."

  5. October 28, 1966 Amarillo, Texas - Tri-State Fairgrounds Coliseum

Yes, thanks for the correction...(it was rather late when I posted this pic, but yes Beck had already left..)

(this from the Mysteries Thread, tks to Steve)

There seems to be no consensus amongst The Yardbirds as to precisely when Jeff was removed from the group. In one recollection, his last gig was at the Memorial Coliseum in

Corpus Christi, Texas on 10/30/66. In another, both Dreja & Beck cite Memorial Coliseum in Dallas on 10/29/66. In a third, Jeff states he quit the first week of November '66 in Kansas (they played the Memorial Hall on 11/5/66).

By July, 1968 they split, and The New Yardbirds reformed...

  7. if it was Jimmy. But I really believe it was - unless he was nowhere near London yesterday. Or he has a twin.

...Ross Halfin's diary past/present can perhaps provide some clues as to Jimmy/Relevancy of the place where you saw Jimmy/Limo...restaurants, clubs near that area where Jimmy or Ross visit....

The butterfly's attractiveness derives not only from colors and symmetry: deeper motives contribute to it. We would not think them so beautiful if they did not fly, or if they flew straight and briskly like bees, or if they stung, or above all if they did not enact the perturbing mystery of metamorphosis: the latter assumes in our eyes the value of a badly decoded message, a symbol, a sign.

    :notworthy:

.....Haven't caught The Butterfly of your thoughts yet Steve, but I hope the flowers remain full of fragrance for Your countless visits.........Cheers

  12. Most of the purple writing is beyond me ,but what the fuck.It wouldn't bother me at all to see it continue. It never chafes my ass.Have a great evening, everyone!

....a saint was trying to save a Scorpion falling into water, an onlooker, ask the Saint, why are touching the Scorpion, it will bite you, and the Saint replied, yes I know, I am fulfilling my duty, and so is the Scorpion ....carry on.....

    Peace and Content :D :D

  13. Looks like a dragon or gryphon

...That is also very good observation, Entirely possible, AND:

Possibly, Jimmy "Could" be wearing the The Cross and The Loch. Monster pendant together, (which is my observation) because of their historic connection as in this article:

    http://www.fisheaters.com/animals13.html

The following comes from "Loch Ness in the Highlands of Scotland":

Once upon a time, when Saint Columba was traveling through the country of the Picts, he had to cross the River Ness. When he reached the shore there was a group of people, Picts and Brethren both, burying an unfortunate guy who had been bit by a water-monster. Columba ordered one of his people to swim across the river and get the boat on the other side so that he might cross. On hearing this, Lugneus Mocumin stripped down to his tunic and plunged in to the water.

But the monster saw him swimming and charged to the surface to devour poor Lugneus and everyone who was watching was horrified and hid their eyes in terror. Everyone except Columba who raised his holy hand and inscribed the Cross in the empty air. Calling upon the name of God, he commanded the savage beast, saying: "Go no further! Do not touch the man! Go back at once!"

The monster drew back as though pulled by ropes and retreated quickly to the depths of the Loch. Lugneus brought the boat back, unharmed and everyone was astonished. And the heathen savages who were present were overcome by the greatness of the miracle which they themselves had seen, and magnified the God of the Christians.

    ....I suppose the mystery continues..... :D :D

  14. Not exactly. The words are distinct in a dictionary and given different meanings. The idea that the root is the same is fine, but the words themselves don't mean the same in what they have become.

I think your answer is very helpful though (but I certainly wouldn't say that all women from Calcutta are beautiful! )

Thanks that you find it helpful. I agree with you on differences, as to what Aryans became to be later..Originally, they were One group of distinct people who "invaded" India...yes, it is true, cultures evolve, so do meanings...(I wanted to stay true to Robert's original purpose, "Noble" meaning...that's all)

About beauty of women, You are making a comment as an Individual, I was representing myself, on behalf of millions....their beauty is of distinct features, ie. they are generally known to have "tigeress eyes",,,, A GENERAL FACT understood in India!!!, (Calcutta/Bengal, the Region in general, Not Calcutta alone as in City....

(At least two beauty queens, Miss Universe, Miss World, not to mention exceptional artists, belong to Bengal...Calcutta is city of Artistic Talent, and many women of that CITY AND REGION possess that, which makes them very distinct...)

....The purpose of this thread remains to Understand/honor Robert's Lyrics....,

(This is my understanding of Robert Plant)

It is possible to have many great vocalist with extra ordinary baritones...but there are very few who have the "intellectualism" associated with profound understanding of poetry they are reciting through song. Robert Plant is such an artist, each and every word is truly crafted, he has trained himself in this respect, and now it comes naturally to him...

...I think we all understand the facts, in our own ways....that is fine...

  15.

I don´t dare to imagine which verbal gems came already from my keyboard  - not on purpose, because English isn´t my native language :D

So If I post something very horrible, excuse me... :bagoverhead:

  16. I've been analysing the song All my Love and so far looking at several other meanings it seems the most reasonable is about plants son Karac who died at a young age but there is one line that confuses me and I haven't seen it discussed here.

Proud Aryan one word, my will to sustain

Now I don't know everything but wasn't Aryan the phrase used by hitler to describe the pure master race?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

....The word Aryan is borrowed from the ancient Indian Sanskrit Language the root word is Arya

The Arian is a variation of this word. (Either way, it means the same, "Noble"). The word Arya is a reference to rising sun, I believe....The Aryan people mostly are found in the North/West India, closer to Pakistan/Europe ("fair color").

The other race Dravadians are found in the South/East India,( (Ie. Bengal, Chenai) (the dark color"). The Dravadians are considered to be the Foremost Original People of India...

...and I want to compliment Robert's Beautiful Wife, Maureen, in the Song Remains The Same...women of Calcutta/Bengal are considered to be very exotic/beautiful/exceptional in India...

    take care...I hope it helps...

Ofcourse, all this NOT TO BE confused Hitler's purpose....He simply borrowed the meanings/or symbols to further his own inhuman cause...

  17. I know, it was kind of a shock. But, if it's the last of his demons, so be it. Hell, I smoked for 14 years and quit just 3 years ago. It's a tough thing.

....tks. for the photos, Moonmaid....I feel for you and every body here, but the brighter side, He still looks good, ("striking" better pose than Ronnie Wood). Jimmy appears to be fiercely independent and enjoying life.....anyway, wish him the best of health..... :D

  18. I wish for more too.

Beautiful pic's everybody so far.... (we will have to wait for "The Interviews", wonder what Jimmy has to say about our "wishing for More"). :D :D
