  1. Bron Yr-Aur for me, definitely. That's what I wake up to every morning (my alarm clock has a dock for my iPod). It's a lovely, mellow, gentle song to wake up to.

Only trouble is, I keep dreaming that it's Jimmy sitting at the end of my bed, playing the song on an acoustic ... then dammit, I realise that it's the iPod every time!

funny...i told my spouse (when we were dating about a week) i dreamed he was playing it to me(he had just started playing guitar)...a few weeks later, he was sitting on my couch and just started playing it...knew it was serious then...

  2. It really is shocking and it is quite ignorant of them to mock us. What the hell do most of us have to do with Bush's decision making? Didnt they notice that half or more of the people in this damn country of over 200 millions people didnt want any part of him?

    i think they realize that...

side story...was with a friend in poland while we were getting "lectured" about bush and she tells the guy, "it wasn't like i was the only person who voted for him!"(as if that absolved her)...i just looked at her and said, "looks like you're the only one here who did...this one's yours"...and i walked out...i was laughing so hard when she came out and said "thanks a lot!"

  3. Do you believe that? Then why didnt she get picked over Biden?

i absolutely believe it...true, i wish he had picked hillary as well, but he will not pass up the influence that the clintons have...to include bill...people over here love that man and hopefully he will be dispatched as an ambassador to the world...a lot of damage has to be undone...i've traveled to around twenty-three countries since i have been here and the only country where i consistently received positive comments about america was morroco....that was the only place where everyone said "america...good country"...heck, i've even been yelled at by a few norwegians and these are about the most docile people i have ever encountered! i'm just sick and tired of being yelled at for being american...

  4. I'm with ya brother, can't remember the last time I voted my party line.

Think I'll change to Indy next year.

my state puts the top two vote-getters from the primary on the ballot for our state elections...and they are not required to affiliate with any party.

  5. my motto...vote early...and often...

seriously, i'm jealous of all you partying that night...it'll be the middle of the night here before anything is concrete...

  6. my chuckle for the day...from a facebook group...

    Anti-War, Pro-Kittens

    n2207427668_26000.jpg

This group disagrees with the struggle overseas involving american troops, and feels that the American military should not be involved with Iraq in any way, shape or form. Also, the group is very much a pro-kitten group. We accept all kinds of kittens, and believe in equal rights for all kittens (be they black, white, or orange with stripes). Note: this group does not support all ages of cats, as we are only pro-kitten.

    FUN FACTS:

4 out of 5 major television news networks prefer kittens to the current administration. 1 out of 5 news networks is Fox News Channel.

    *ANTI-WAR, PRO-KITTEN T-SHIRTS*

Thanks to the generosity of one very special group member (Jessica Forrester, Virginai Tech), we now have official t-shirts. These t-shirts are officially liscened by the National Council for the Protection of Kittens from International Warfare (of the NCPKIW, for short). They are available in a myriad of different colors, styles, sizes, etc.

  7. On the bright side, housing prices have come down a lot. The median price is in the $300Ks now, compared to the $500Ks in 2005-6. Coronado might be a bit of a stretch, though, unless you're a millionaire. If you have any questions about the neighborhoods around here, I'd be happy to put in my 2 cents.

San Diego's not so bad, though. The only thing that really gets on my nerves is the traffic (and sometimes the people). No snow, though! Temperature's in the 70s right now, nice and sunny!

we would only be there 2 years so will probably rent...my main concern is the school district and safety/crime...i can't even imagine dealing with the traffic...not sure i can even name five stoplights where i live now...

i'm not dragging down san diego as much as i am disappointed because the spouse will be gone off and on at least a year of the time we are there, whereas if he goes to afganistan for a year, we could stay here and just get it over with...the constant leaving for 2 to 6 weeks at a time on top of the 6 month cruise is tough on the kids as is the extra move...

...this was the whining thread, right?...ok, i'm done...nice and sunny...nice and sunny...nice and sunny

  8. Well Marolyn.........you should go........ Coronado is great and San Diego has really been cleaned up since I was living there. Great mom and pop Mexican places..........I think that is what I miss the most besides the fishing! If you like ocean activities you can't go wrong. Hope you make the right choice...keep us up to date on what you decide.

I have never been to Southern California (only been in the Disneyland/Anaheim area), but it has been at the top of my list of dream places to live. Find a nice house close to a nice beach and have the time of your life! I think Coronado looks lovely (or maybe Catalina Island?) Best to you wherever you go! and don't forget, vote for Obama :)

Hotel del Coronado - a great place to stay. Still heard it is haunted. Good food downtown Coronado and the Navy Seals run early in the morning on the beach.

thanks guys...been researching all weekend and i'm starting to warm to the idea...i guess it could be worse...

...but i just want to stay here... :boohoo:

edited to add...sorry to rain on the "happy thread"

  9. I grew up in Chula Vista, ever been there? Used to do alot of fishing off the IB peer, and partying.

hey dd...the spouse just got offered orders to coronado and am not too sure how i feel about it...i can't picture anything better than what we have here but our time is up...traffic, crime, ect... not sure i'm ready for all that and they want an answer asap...tell me something positive...

  10. I have one of those i-Robot Roombas, set it and forget it B)

saw an electric lawnmower that looked like a roomba the other day...are these available in the states?

i'm happy because i bought my tickets to chicago and seattle for christmas vacation... :)

  11. I can never figure out if you love me or hate me... <_<

    Wait a minute... :o

Do you love me!? Perhaps we could talk about it after a walk in the park or over ice cream or something? Or an alcoholic beverage maybe?

    love??? hate??? it's a thin line, huh?...

God-damnit, I thought we agreed upon this already...

In the turf battle of last week, I traded you all of the "Ramble On" group (including the ultra snappy Pet Peeves thread and the late Spats Loveblahblahblah) and 28% of the "Led Zeppelin Master Forum"... for "Meet & Greet" and 65% of "Led Zeppelin Live"

I think its a fair deal man...

    Get off my girl-gettin' turf!

suggestion...don't ever part with any portion of the "pet peeves" thread...it's your personal goldmine!
