  3. Those are really nice pictures, thanks. After watching the whole series, I have a real understanding of what the lives are like for the men and women who serve our country, and also what it is like for the loved ones they must leave behind for so long. You said your husband was on this cruise, was he interviewed on this show? Since you have not seen the whole thing yet, I wont go into it too much. But I will say, the men and woman were very honest about how they feel about the war, and what goes on in their personel lives, and I respect that. The show is disturbing at times, as well as happy and sad. I found myself getting very emotional as I was drawn into these peoples lives. What ever people think about the war, I feel we should be thankful for the hard work, that all the men and woman, in all the different phases of the military do. And no, I do not know of anyone serving, that is just how I feel.

very nice thing to say...don't know if we will see him, im mainly watching the background.

im hoping they show the portion of the cruise from hawaii to san diego (the tiger cruise) where family members are allowed to finish the cruise. my daughter went and really enjoyed it...

one thing to note is that these guys have been cruising to the gulf since the first iraq war...there has been no break...

    til next week...

  4. Concert was held on Wed, April 30 1986. It's so obscure I'd never seen confirmation of

the venue until you posted it (Assembly Hall)! I presume that hall is on one of the local

college campuses, in which case a review may have been published in the school paper.

I will have to look into that; there is someone I know who may be willing to visit the

    campus library.

hey steve, thanks for the info. and for responding so fast!!! (and for confirming im not insane) ...have looked online over the years for info on this concert with no luck.

assembly hall is where they do the basketball games for the fighting illini. i checked the archives online for the "daily illini" the student paper and nothing comes up but don't know if they have them from that far back available on the net.

i remember the security kept everything very civil....we were required to stay in our seats on the floor and absolutely no cameras were allowed. been hoping maybe someone got one in and the photos will show up.

was a beautiful thing to see jimmy so close up...i could hardly contain myself! :D

  5. saw the firm at assembly hall in champaign, ill in early 1986... spectacular to see jimmy from fourth row center

anybody have any info or reviews?

googled and also checked local newspaper archives to no avail. :(

maybe i just dreamed the whole thing...

  6. Has anyone seen the PBS documentary, CARRIER? Sorry if the spelling is wrong. This is so addictive, I really loved it. It has a few parts to it, but last weekend PBS made a marathon of it, and I was glued to the tv. If anyone was able to catch it , let me know what you thought.

ok, saw the 3rd episode last night where they pull into hongkong and the guys all order the custom red leisure suits :D ...

disturbing at the end when the e-6 sailor of the wing, who is on the fast track, ends up having sex with the e-3 while on duty as the sexual victims liason!! i was surprised at how nonchalant he was ...didn't seem too bothered that his whole career was shot...something is wrong with that guy...just a total shock that seemed to come out of nowhere!!!

  8. They should have Jim's grave more isolated from other peoples graves. It seems highly disrespectful the things fans are doing there. Think of the people visiting their lost loved ones.

you'll notice how clean it is now. there is no more graffiti, no trash, no alcohol. had to hide the liquor and do a quick jump over the fence for a photo op when the suits wandered off...all very civil

  9. On our first trip to Paris, when I was just out of college, one of the first places that my husband and I visited was Père Lachaise to see Jim Morrison's grave site - it was a shrine and there were fans from all over the world sitting nearby smoking pot and weed and drinking beer and wine. In the decades since, we returned to Paris several times but never visited the grave again so I don't know if it looks the same or if it is still a mecca for Jim's fans.

was there in february with a friend who wanted to drink a beer on morrison's grave for her 40th birthday...as you can see it's quite different. complete with security fence....

no shortage of crazy foreign fans though...
