TheLastSpartan Posted July 8, 2012 Share Posted July 8, 2012 Okay, I am looking for some pictures I can print off, spefically from the following dates: August 20th 1970 Oklahomacity August 21st 1970 Tulsa April 3rd 1977 Oklahoma City It'd be nice if they were watermark free, and how would I go about determining the size before I print, like how to check the size so I can be sure to get the right size of paper. Glyn Posted July 8, 2012 Share Posted July 8, 2012 How large would you like to print? The problem with printing photos is that most of the images you find will be low resolution. That's ok for small printing (~maybe~ paper size and smaller), but if you want full poster size, the selection of pictures is limited. The size that they will be printed is based on the quality you want. You can right click on the image once it's saved, click on properties, then details. Here you will find the dimensions and resolution. Plug those numbers into this http://auctionrepair.com/pixels.html and you will get the size of the print. If you have photoshop you can increase the dpi (resolution), which will improve the quality, but will shrink the image. For semi professional prints I would recommend 200-300 dpi. If and when you get the pictures you want to print, I could help you get them ready for printing. Don't worry, I am not looking for anything poster size! Just something about the size of a regular photograph. Thanks for the websites! Unfortunately that one photo website doesn't have specific venues, but I'm sure I can look up photos on this website and match them with those on that website, and your help getting ready for them to print would be appreciated! tmtomh Posted July 8, 2012 Share Posted July 8, 2012 On size: ideally you'd want 300 pixels for every inch of picture size. So if you wanted to print, say, a CD cover, that's about 5 inches by 5 inches. So ideally you'd want an image that's 1500x1500 pixels. However, you can usually get away with 240ppi or even 200. So in the above example you might be able to get away with an image that's 1200 x 1200 or 1000 x 1000. As for dated phots, the ledzeppelin-reference site has dated photos. I've only run across a few 300dpi images on the net, and only a couple that were large enough that they could be turned into +240dpi and still be large enough/worth it to print.
