Anjin-san Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Jazz composer and pianist Dave Brubeck, whose pioneering style in pieces such as "Take Five" caught listeners' ears with exotic, challenging rhythms, has died. He was 91. R Quote
Janvier Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 His album Time Out made me company during many hours and days when I was in college, I'm terribly sad to learn this. Quote
boogie woogie Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Thanks for the post. I love Take Five. Quote
zepscoda Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I saw him live during a tour he did during his 80th birthday. He was great, best jazz show I've ever seen. Quote
zepscoda Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 " There's a way of playing safe, there's a way of using tricks and there's the way I like to play which is dangerously where you're going to take a chance on making mistakes in order to create something you haven't created before. the body electric Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) An absolutely major figure in American Jazz. What a band he had. What an influence he had on so many. Paul Desmond was one of the coolest Jazz musicians ever. Joe Morello was a true badass. I love Brubeck and will miss him. In The Light since 1972. Trampled Under Foot. My life with Led Zeppelin. http://petedelorean.tumblr.com/ Edited December 6, 2012 by the body electric Quote
